I've got HERO Basic, and will be getting Champions complete soon. Anyhow, I wan to introduce my friends to HERO, but none of them have played anything similar except for one guy with a bad experience. I'm afraid to overwhelm them, so I think, at least the first time out, using pre-tabbed stuff might help for powers and the like. What are the quintessential HERO/Champions books for beginners/new players? I'm going to start them off with Basic, and after maybe a campaign see if they can handle full-on HERO/Champs. One, two books at most. PDF please. Mods - if this is in the wrong or less than ideal forum, could you move it? Sorry >_<

I was looking over the online store for books I don't own and noticed there are two versions of Dark Champions: The Animated Series. Both have the same description but one is $26.99 and the other is $20.99. I assume the more expensive one is an upgraded version of the cheaper one. Is this correct? If not what is the difference?

As a suggestion for 3PP, why not put your books on POD? I'm interested in a print copy of "Here Be Dragons", for example, but I didn't have the cash to spare when it was available in print. In addition, you could offer the product in formats that weren't available with the original print run, like hardcover/softcover (if it was originally available in softcover/hardcover). I know I, for one, strongly prefer hardcover books for simple durability. Just a thought; I don't know what market factors might play in.

Are the pdfs for updated books no longer for sale? I see, e.g., that the Dark Champions pdf is still available, but the 5e Fantasy Hero pdf is "out of stock." For the moment, I'm just trying to get Fantasy Hero 5e. Thanks.

I am finally returning to Hero System after several years of being away. With approximately 75% of all of the 5th edition books already in my collection already and seeing the crazy prices for 6th edition, I think I am just going to stick with 5th and try and complete the run (especially with the reduced costs for 5th in the Hero store). I know there were some 5th edition hardcovers printed over the run (along with their softcover counterparts) - but does anyone know which books they were? The ones I know of are: Fifth Edition Rules (have it) Fifth Edition Revised Rules (have it) Pulp Hero (have it) Fantasy Hero (don't currently have it) Are there any oth…

Hello, is the 5th Edition PDF for the Star Hero available in the store? I see the character pack for it and a bunch of 5th edition Star Hero supplement books (i.e. Alien War, Terran Empire, etc)...but I only see the 6th edition Star Hero rules

Just thought I'd point this out - this book must be getting collectable: on Amazon UK the core rule book costs nearly £100 sterling, or about £150 US. Scary.

Are the any plans to reprint? It's almost impossible to find it for sale anywhere on the web let alone amazon or the Hero store.

Hey! I got the two 6E books and the Basic Rulebook and noticed, that the rules are not exactly the same (i.e. the 10/12pt Skill Levels in the Core books cost 8/10pt in the Basic Rulebook). My question is... are there actual differences between these two rules sets, or are those just some editing errors that slipped in? Also, will the PDFs be updated in the HERO store (and others, like DriveThruRPG) eventually, so the up-to-date version can be downloaded again? Thanks! Bye Thanee

Has this site ported over the 6e errata? I cannot seem to find it, and google referenced the old site's links. Thanks for the information and/or links.

Before I shell out the money for the 6e Hero Designer can someone tell me if its backwards compatible with 5e write ups? Does it change thing like the new rules for ECs etc? If so does anyone know where I can buy a Hero Designer v3?

The game store I shop at has informed me they are unable to get any more copies of 6E Vol 1 due to it being out of print. I am firm believer in supporting local game stores. Is there a date when more copies when be printed?

I got another used copy for table use, but I'd like to repair the binding at some point so it will last longer. Has anyone had any luck trying to repair the binding on 6e1?

Greetings All, Will the Champions Universe simply be updated to the new rules of 6th Ed, or will there be a new Champions Universe (such as the dramatic change from 4th to 5th Ed)?

Before I start to try and print key pages of the PDF 6th ED books, is there a 6th ED GM screen anywhere (I didn't see it in the store) that has hit location and range modifiers and the OCV/DCV comparison chart, Mind Control tables, Presence Attack tables, etc? Thanks!

Greetings All, Hero Games should ride the wave of energy being generated by Champions Online! Cryptic gave out trial keys to the life time subscribers. I gave two of them out to my Champions group and both players have now bought Champions Online. They want to know how long until we have the 6th Edition stats for everything in the Cryptic universe? It would be great if the upcoming Champions book had everything we have seen so far in the game. I'm going to start my 6th ed. Champions campaign running parallel with the material given in Champions Online. Cryptic did an excellent job!

I was wondering if there was any timeline for the remaining 5th edition things to get updates to 6th edition. For example, I am interested in the Vehicle Sourcebook and The Ultimate Mentalist, but I do not want to pay for 5th edition if the 6th are in the works. Last time I played was Champions in the mid 80s. Like 2nd ed., I think. Now, I am looking at using it for updating Space Opera (Fantasy Games Unlimited) to remove the exceptionally math heavy nature of that game. Also, the fact there is a Roll20 engine for HG is a nice bonus since my old gaming group now lives in four different states. Getting the new version, I went for 6th ed, but am now …

I have a Sony PRS-700 eReader. I love it. I've been thinking about picking up the 6th Edition books for my eReader but before I do so, I wonder if anyone has used them on the Sony eReader and, if so, how well do they load and display?

Was going through my champions books on my shelf, and saw something i was surprised I hadn't noticed. I organize my books by the "catalog number" on the spine, so for example"Alien Eenemies" is #413, followed by "olympians" at #414then "Road Kill" at #415......but between "Corporations at #434" and "golden age Champions at #436....i seem to be missing #435 which book was #435? was it never published? was it a non Champions book?....or did I just "lose" it somewhere?

I don't care what settings they were meant for, I want to know if there's a book which simply contains all the skills, characteristics, powers, advantages, and disadvantages, talents, magic, whatever that have ever appeared in any books. All the raw materials that I could ever need to build any of my own settings. I don't like the feeling of these things being tucked away in different genre books, I just want all the character building tools extant within the system. I feel like the splatbooks should exclusively contain package deals that, no matter the setting or genre, only reference a single book worth of raw building materials. Does such a book exist? Am I an idio…
