Be nice, it's my first real fiddling with Photoshop. The USS Manhattan was originally laid down in 1928 at both the Brooklyn Navy Yards and the Wingfoot Lake Hanger facility. It was an attempt to go one step beyond even the audacious dreams of the USS Acron and Macon, that were then only just in the blueprint stage. Moving beyond merely the extended scout concept, the USS Manhattan would mate the striking power of a full airwing (40 aircraft) with the speed and versatility of the blimp. A new doping process was used as well as secrets in lift technology that are classified even to this day. It is rumored that what began with the USS Manhattan culminated in th…

Is anyone aware of and (good) RPG supplements that deal with the 1950's. I'm thinking early cold war, the advent of the space age, and that sort of thing.

Obviously the new PH is going to have a section on the slang and colloquialisms of the period, just like JI did. After all, using the slang is just plain fun. Question: has anyone out there entered the slang from JI into a word processing program? If they have, I'd be interested in receiving a copy, since it would save me a helluva lot of retyping. I've already checked with Aaron Allston, who informs me it was written on a typewriter, so getting it from the original authors isn't possible. Any help would be much appreciated! There's lots of work to do on the book, so any saved time can be put to other uses.

I think we should take a moment to look at what makes other pulp rpgs work, so we can insure pulp hero a place at the head of the class. titles like Adventure (original and d20), Forbidden Kingdoms, Gurps Cliffhangers, Bloodshadows, Noir, Pulp Zombie, Pulp Era, etc... what do you guys think they do well, and how could that success be improved upon in hero?

Hey, folx! A few weeks ago, Jess Nevin, who's written extensively about Victorian adventure fiction and is writing a big ol' book about pulp fiction, posted in a thread or two around here. I've been trying to get in touch with him, but all the addresses I've tried have yielded nada to date. I thought maybe his showing up on the Hero boards was the result of a friend or acquaintance of his who's a regular here telling him about Pulp Hero. If you're that person, could you please ask him to drop me a line to [email protected], or to contact me through the Hero website? I would really appreciate it. If you are NOT that person or a personal friend of his, ple…

well, fellow fans of Herodom i have a few questions about placing pulp characters in the here and now. Are there any special advantages or disadvantages you would suggest for those who are playing pulp characters who for whatever reason are in this modern era? Currently I am running a character by the name of Doc. Random in a WW Mage campaign (the only game in town) But I think he could easily be converted over to Hero with a snap. So are there some suggestions out there other than the writeups that abound?

  20. The real Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Polish motor racing enthusiast Count Louis Zborowski lived in England during the first quarter of the 20th century. Determined to build a race-winning car, he recruited Captain Clive Gallop (later one of the 'Bentley Boys' racers) after the close of the First World War to help him merge an aircraft engine with a state-of-the-art chassis. They built four vehicles, known as Chitty Chitty Bang Bangs (from which Ian Fleming took the name of his flying car). Each was a one-off, and only Chitty Chitty Bang Bang II survives to this day. Its owners, Crawford Auto Collection, of Cleveland, Ohio, currently wish to sell it, but so far no on…

Here's my first shot at a Pulp character. I see him more as a Mobster/PI movie character than an Indiana Jones type, but you could probably fit him in just about anywhere. Also, my apologies if the format stinks. 24. How about a contest to create sample characters . Let it run for about a month with characters submitted either to the forum and voted on or directly to Steve who will pick the ones he likes best. The winning characters will be included in either Pulp Hero or one of the upcoming Pulp Hero sourcebooks. The winners get credit and a copy of the product that their character appears in. How does this idea strike you folks?
