It’s a good twist on a buddy film. Most importantly, there are two mid/post credits scenes, with an awful lot of credits in between. So it was better than the original Godzilla vs Mothra but not nearly as good as Galaxy Quest?
slikmar
One thing that strikes me about the rebooted Venom origin, and I haven't seen the movie and not sure if I will, is "why does Venom look like a black spider-man costume?" when in the new version, it had nothing to do with spidey. The new movie Venom costume lacks the spider logo, since their origins aren't linked.

The original Mothra vs. Godzilla(the proper title) was an amazing film from the Golden Age of Toho. Unfavorably comparing it to Venom is....inaccurate at best. Pattern Ghost
It does make you wonder if Spider-Man's costume is meant to be blue or black since they're often colored with the same highlighting scheme.
zslane
The highlights of Spider-Man's costume are a very light blue, indicating that the base color is supposed to be blue, whereas with Venom, the highlights are a darker blue than Spider-Man's base blue color, indicating that they represent "black highlights". On Spider-Man's costume, black is used strictly for shadows, whereas on Venom, black is used as the base color. You have to look at the drawn forms the way the inker and colorer would. Old Man
So is Spidey's costume red with blue accents, or blue with red accents?
Christopher R Taylor
Depends on the artist. Ditko who created the costume was more black and Romita turned him more blue.
Lord Liaden
Actually, in the original printings of Spider-Man's early Ditko issues, the parts of his costume which are now blue were purple.
