I listen, I have a few artists I like, but I own only 2 music CDs, and I almost never listen to them anymore. OTOH, I probably spent more than that amount of saved money on DVDs and books. I had always been afraid to, because I liked them so much, and I was afraid I'd find out they were some kind of invasive species or sucked blood or something. Not that it was totally out of whack, but sometimes it takes that long to undo the kinks, y'know? So anyway, one year after I quit my last job, about 7 months after leaving the band, and about a year since I did any gaming...I'm in a PBEM again and I'm on the boards again, and suddenly my life has taken an icky turn. I haven't even spent that much time on gaming--we're talking a couple hours a week, tops--but things are definitely heading for the crapper. I mentioned that I run a Fantasy Hero game, lot of fun, blah blah. I mentioned how it's points-based, and clearly superior. I got a reply: Speaking of point-buy systems, it has crossed my mind from time to time that it might be interesting to have an RPG where you buy all your abilities with your XP. Instead of "Oh, I have enough to level, now I get this bonus, that bonus, these stats all go up one, and I get to pick something cool off that list, but because of my class I can never have those abilities there", you could end up with something far more flexible, and a little more progressive, instead of a sudden bump in various stats at the time you level, you could buy the various upgrades little by little, and prioritize the things you want. Somehow, though, I get the feeling such a system would necessarily only work on computer based RPG's; the complexity required to keep things fair would probably require a tome all on its own. Giggle. Big speakers too. At the moment I only have a Bose radio/CD player. The radio part is very staticky as the thing is about 7 years old. My favorite Station comes in staticky.
