Re: A Thread for Random Musings

. . . Hah! Made it through a training camp weekend without major injuries! Thanks goes to the PSoSF, St. Guy.

Though I'll probably be useless at work tomorrow -- I feel stiff as a plank right now, and it's bound to get worse. But it was worth it.

If magic were around today (and we still had about the same technology), one thing I'd expect to see would be the Square Hole Drill Bit. Chuck the drill bit into your electric drill, Bzzzzzzt! And presto! A square hole instead of a round one!

Re: A Thread for Random Musings

Yesterday was the St. Louis marathon and half-marathon. I pushed myself through 13.1 miles, had some amazing splits (second mile was ran 7m08s) and finished ahead of my time last year (1h37min,33sec). Today, my legs hurt. A lot. Semi-bad news is that this winter was my worst training season, I missed a lot of days due to sickness and travel. Why is it bad news that I did well with poor training? Because it means I can (and should) do better. Now to set my goals for the rest of the year.

Bored, with the offspring off to the GPs and what do I do? Run outside, do yardwork, play Hellgate? No, I fire up the DVD and watch some of my Buffy DVDs. After Hush and Once more with feeling, I set it to random and come up with a rare gem from the 4th season. One of the best lines in the series is uttered by the commando 2nd Forrest

Riley: "Have you heard of a Slayer?"

Forrest: "Slayer? Anvil headed thrash band with delusions of Black Sabbath."

After getting a Wild Cherry Pepsi by mistake out of a vending machine, I find that my dislike of artificial cherry flavoring is no less intense than it was 45 years ago, when it was installed by the circumstance that every disgusting children's medicine, over-the-counter or prescription, had that flavoring in it.

Compelling evidence as to why choosing titles is important. :snicker:

One of the reveiws

Before reading this book, the thought of penetrating Wagner's "Ring" left me cold. Why would I go near Wagner's musty old "Ring", I thought, when there were so many younger, more supple pieces available to me? Surely Wagner's "Ring" would seem worn and battered from nearly two centuries of over-use?
