Perhaps Cannibalism is the 'only' ritual way to cleanse invaders who are defiling their area. the natives actually are repulsed by cannibalism but due to a mistranslation of information contained on the cup of life the natives have little choice. the guides to recover the cup are of course merely a distraction in order to split the party. Re: What Do I Throw At Them? How about they have to locate the parts of the Artifact theat summoned them here in order to 'escape' to their next adventure. and the criminals are relative normals hiding in a city of 10k or so.

Re: FANTASY HERO -- What Do *You* Want To See? Steve probably doesn't have the time for this but how about doing the same things for weapons you do for magic systems. After all This is HERO, there is no one MAGIC system to rule them all why do we have to have one WEAPON system to rule them all? Doing a similar thing for WEAPONS as SPELLS should make for an interesting read. He has basically done this (in 5th) but he hasn't charted them out for note to note comparisons

Re: Top 10 Insupportable Premises in Comic Book Universes I am working on a campaign wherein all of superheros and supervillians are being given super tech as part of a plot by aliens to destroy they earth while still leaving it viable. all the heroes and villians are trying to find a way to survive (the aliens choose poor people close to financial ruin in order to have them likely to be willing to fuck over the planet and in supreme arrogance tell everyone involved (in groups of 30 peopel or so at a time) as a way to crank up the pressure of knowing that "if i dont tell soon somone else will and they will profit from it" thus the scientific geniuses CAN'T just release tech willy nilly because it could destroy the planet. And everyone wants to keep anyone from reverse engineering stuff or giving it to the government. If anyone want i can look up the short story it is based upon. Very Cool story found in a SCi Fi anthology....

NAKED and she hasn't even been charged yet for public nudity and at most might face a charge of filming without a permit. in part because there hasn't been one complaint about her behavior. yes the whole thing was for a video but still man... if thath doesnt point to our society being more rational than many have supposed.....

Ok So, Not necessarily for this book but something to keep kicking around maybe for later, How about Older Villians who have gone on and left some of their power sources behind. after 70 + years there could be all sorts of artifact goodies just waiting to be grafted onto hapless NPC's who have a longer history than their latest weilders... who might even be up to throwing some new spins onto the old gadgets....

Re: Urban Fantasy Setting: Here There Be Monsters A few idears how about a beastmaster sort of character Since monsters may be preying upon the animal population (perhaps as a way to sustain them selves until they are forced to prey upon humans? Adding a variable to the cycling of a series of monstrous urges.) Another thing Wizard Comics noted a comic called Necessary monsters. sounds pretty relevant to the basics of the campaign....
