Ndreare reacted to Hugh Neilson in How do you handle weapons with Invis?
I don't think many characters can see the bullet coming towards them either. If they know they are being attacked, why would their DCV be impaired?
An Invisible attack through a focus is likely a sniper's weapon - the user attempts to find a concealed location so that the precise location from which the target is being attacked is difficult to determine.

I believe it was first defined in UMA, but the description gives you everything you need on it: STR +2D6 Strike, must follow Block.

Ndreare got a reaction from sentry0 in Hero System Mobile - Next
I would love to see a feature to save and name/rename the random characters.

I built the "Cruncher" tool last night...lets you calculate power costs on the fly

Ndreare reacted to Amorkca in HERO System Mobile
Can I take a randomly generated character and export it back to Hero Designer?
-
Ndreare reacted to steriaca in HERO System Mobile
Other things it can use, but put on the back burner.
1) A copy of Hero In Two Pages.
2) "Foxbat Mode", where Foxbat makes random comments at a press of the button. It is all part of the Master Plan TM, after all.
3) HERO-pedia. List of characters, where to find them, and what edition they come from.

I am pleased to announce the launch of the HERO System Mobile app on both the Google Play Store and Apple’s App Store. You can install the app by searching for it in your app store or by using the links provided. The app is free to use, ad free, and respects your privacy.
Google Play - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.herogmtools App Store - https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/hero-system-mobile/id1352750917?ls=1&mt=8 Amazon App Store - http://a.co/byom955
This project is an extension of an export template I wrote a few months ago. I had so much fun writing that template that I decided to develop a full app.
Features
Import characters from Hero Designer using this export template Characteristics and Skills may be long pressed and a check will be made Dice rolling tools (3d6, Hit, Damage, and Free Form) The H.E.R.O. tool generates random 250 point 5e supers (shout out to Cassandra for allowing me to use her original idea) Track statistics about your die rolls, including average values, distribution, total stun etc.
This is still very much a work in progress and I have plans to add more features as time goes on. For now though I feel that it’s mature enough to release to the general public.
Feedback is always welcome either here or at phil.guinchard@gmail.com
Happy Hero-ing

Ndreare reacted to name_tamer in The Institute For Human Advancement: Pride & Prejudice
(1) It really seems like this notice should be on the front page!
(2) The link is to Amazon, not RPGNow/DriveThruRPG, and a quick search in the latter doesn't turn it up. Is there a plan for it to eventually be on DriveThru?
(3) Are there plans to release a PDF?

Ndreare reacted to Tyler McDowell in Hardbacks and Physical Books?
Add me to the list of people wanting hardcovers, at least for the main books. My hang-up is that I can't handle paper/pages being bent and wrinkled. I end up with multiple copies of books that I really like "just in case". If one gets what is in my mind damaged, I have to hide it from myself and use a different copy. Hardbacks for me is much easier to deal with and less expensive in the end.

Ndreare reacted to Nemblamenchisus in Hardbacks and Physical Books?
I've seen many examples over the years of businesses and IP holders pulling products or making them unavailable for reasons I can't understand. Remember a decade or so ago the app "Flappy Birds" went viral? The maker pulled it when it was bringing in $100k PER DAY because of personal reasons. Even though he was not wealthy and this was probably life-changing money for him and his family. Then there was Gary Gygax's widow simply not wishing to let certain products be published or republished even when it was all set to go with the business partner that Gary had chosen. And then there are certain decisions by DoJ/Hero Games which I won't get into.
It's all a mystery. But owner of stuff can do what they want with their property.

Ndreare reacted to Chris Goodwin in Who owns/lisences Fuzion?
If you want a Fuzion-like system that is open licensed (via the OGL 1.0a), the Action! System is what you're looking for. It was written by Mark Arsenault and published by Gold Rush Games. It sits at a midpoint between Fuzion and Hero.
The core rules can be had from archive.org:
https://archive.org/details/action-core-free
They've been available at various times from DrivethruRPG, but not at the moment. There are a bunch of extras that go with it that I think are all free, but I can't find through Google searching at the moment.

Ndreare reacted to Ninja-Bear in Short cut Characters
If it refers to a source other than the Core book I agree with you 100%.

Ndreare reacted to Grailknight in Short cut Characters
I don't mind doing it for a game or tournament if the base is supplied. I absolutely hate when a published supplement does it. It's asking me to do the work I paid you to do and requiring me to have another resource that's probably not free.

Ndreare reacted to ccastan in New Champions Complete Roll20 Bundle Project
No API needed. However, to get the most of the Champions Begins package and Champions Complete characters you’ll want to use the Hero System 6E Character Sheet, but you don’t need anything but to add the Compendium to your game to get all the rules and search capabilities.

Ndreare reacted to Tywyll in Building a Better Hero Block
This is the problem. You use HD to build a character because it is great and easy. But then you can't export a 'simplified' version. At least I have not seen an export format that does (sadly I have 0 idea on how to build my own).

Ndreare reacted to Hugh Neilson in 6E Core Rulebook Errata
I'll reply in the source thread - I think this thread should be kept clean of non-errata discussion.

Ndreare reacted to Opal in Modelling a "Google search" spell
There should be a "fall down the rabbit hole" side effect.

Ndreare got a reaction from m.mavnn in Modelling a "Google search" spell
I think I have seen it presented as follows in previous attempts.
KS: Everything 30- (cost endurance -1/2, gestures -1/4, incantations -1/4 Active points 31, real cost 15)

Ndreare reacted to unclevlad in Hero Designer on Surface Go?
Which version of the Go? Version 3 runs Win 11. By default it's the S version (only Microsoft Store apps) but it can be upgraded to Home, according to WIkipedia.
If it's running 11 Home, then it should run standard Java for Windows...and therefore run HD.
Mind, I very, very seriously doubt I'd want to. Not on a tablet screen, not with, I suspect, the horrendous performance from a not-very-good processor that's further hobbled by the infinite bloatware known as Windows 11. Touchscreens are *awful* when you're trying to make selections from tiny menus.
Personally, you couldn't give me one. I'll go further...if at all possible, I'll never get anything more from Microsoft. I'm THAT frustrated with what they've done.

Ndreare got a reaction from Kaze9999 in Roll20 Project: End of Week Update #1
This is so very cool. I recently came back to Hero after about 5-6 years away and planned on using roll20. Finding out someone is working on it is super awesome and I really look forward to when you work becomes available to consumers.
