Hi, I am planning on running a Star Hero campaign using the Terran Empire universe. However I have never really done anything but Superheroes with Hero and I would like to try something else. I am however stuck on an idea about what first adventure to run. So I was just wondering if you hero guys were planning on coming out with an introductory adventure for people new to genre. It would be very helpful to me as I haven't run Sci-fi since my Traveller days as a teenager.

Reuben, Reuben I've been thinking... All-female worlds are something of a cliche in SF. Usually they're presented as a utopia/dystopia. Hell, there's even one in Terran Empire. So what's happened to the all-male worlds? We've had clone-worlds, hermaphrodite-worlds, but I can't think of a single all-male world. I've a sneaking suspicion that the all-female world began in the "golden age", when women having a vote was still an issue, and an all-female world was our own world turned upside down. I suspect it perpetuates because SF in general is comfortable with the idea of women having sex with each other, and SF in general is not really happy with …

Now that we've extended the ATRI scale to include more drive options, what say we see what new, advanced energy sources we can devise? To sum up the Interstellar drive column of the list: ATRI 14 = Slipstream ATRI 15 = Wormhold generator ATRI 16 = Tesseract drive ATRI 17 = Zero Hole gates ATRI 18 = Probability drive (For details on these, see the other thread. Now, what sort of power sources can we think of to go along with these, extending beyond Zero Point energy? I think the ultimate level (ATRI 18) would probably be "Cosmic energy," tapping into the natural energy reserves of the universe itself; but I'd like to see what others think.

I really liked the standard equipment diagram for an Alien Wars grunt. I liked a lot of the gear and vehicles and I especially liked the Xenovores. I especially liked the section that detailed the type of information humanity gets about the "alien aggressors" as the years drag on, and how the tension builds as you find out more. I was somewhat at a loss when trying to anticipate how to make the threat of the Xenovores a fresh one throughout a campaign. The genetic diversity and the threat of them evolving to something tougher makes it a battle against time - trying to eradicate enough of them to prevent them from becoming too tough. Because of my fondness f…

One of the flashpoints in our history has been creation or transformation of religion. The beginnings of Christianity, Muslimism, the Reformation, and I am sure that there are more. Has anyone ever dealt with this type of subject in their game? If so, was it a good experience, bad, somewhere in-between? If you were in a game and something like this started going on, would you be interested? Is this a good plot device? Nightshade edit: This was actually intended for the Fantasy HERO site. Sorry for the disruption.

In Fantasy Hero, having a military rank is a fringe benefit. Would you include it in a Star Hero campaign, and how many points would you assign to it? This is what I did for a Star Trek game: Petty Officer/CPO = 1 pt. Ensign/Lieutenant JG = 2 pt. Lieutenant/Lt. Commander = 3 pt. Commander/Captain = 4 pt. Commodore/Admiral = 5 pt. Later, after having bought the new FH, I wrote this down for my game, with different point costs. Corporal = 1 Sergeant = 2 Ensign = 3 Lieutenant = 4 Captain = 5 Major = 6 Colonel = 7 General = 8 Note that during the Renaissance, ensign (or ensign bearer) was an army rank. Today, perhaps the Warrant Office…

Project Oberon was one of the many projects begun under the aegis of the Excaliber Program. Like most of the other Excaliber projects, it's goal was augmentation of the human soldier to make individual soldiers much more capable combatants. Project Oberon was a program to build a practical suit of powered battle armor, giving a trooper some resistance to infantry-carried weapons as well as enviromental protection. However, the program grew out of control, as the Mark I and Mark II Oberon suits blossomed into one-man legged tanks (the Mark II weighed nearly three tons), and cost-overruns threatened to kill the project. In 2290, a new design team lead by Dr. Jeffe…

One of the things I'm hoping to see in Galactic Champions (and, by implication, The Galactic Federation) is an expansion of the ATRI scale. One way I'd like to see it expanded is the addition of other categories, as imports from Se'ecra, Perseid, and Mon'dabi versions of technology classification. But let's discuss that in another thread, another time. What I'm interested in right now (as you've probably guessed from the topic header) is a few more slots below the "Malvan" level of ATRI 14 -- basically, increasing the number for this sort of "ultimate" tech, and add more possibilities. Since one of the benchmark areas used by Humans is transportation, maybe so…
