Your DM, at the start of the new Star Hero campaign you are joining, has gone insane. He decided he's interested in seeing what happens when you play Star Hero at the 750 point level. What kind of character would you create with that many points, while sticking to Star Hero genre conventions??

Does anyone know of a site where I could get some kind of three-dimensional coordinates for nearby stars? I've found lists sorted by distance and brightness, and I've found a cool 3D map, but what I really want is just a list of where the stars are, so I can make sure my game universe matches reality. Assume I have a ship which is capable of accelerating at 4G (40m/sec sq.) in a rapidly degrading orbit around a star with a surface gravity of 600m/sec sq. Is there an easy way for a mathematical dullard such as myself to work out how close I'd be able to approach the star and still be able to get away? I'm not necessarily looking for absolute accuracy here, so much as a rule I can apply which would be good enoughh for space opera purposes.

Battlefield Meson Gun from TNE, but using the damage rating from GURPS Traveller Ground Forces Great for leaving large smoking craters and creating new 24 hour golf courses thankfully these come in batteries of 3 and maybe 3 batteries to a regiment since it does give a radiation burst also, whats the best way of simulating that, or just leaving it as an NND? These stats can also be used to simulate a 50 ton meson gun bay if you add another kicker to the megascale range

Hiya all! Like many of you, I was VERY disappointed to learn of DoJ's decision to scale back the production schedule of Star Hero. I know that an idea was presented in another thread to have fans put up Star Hero (in particular TE) websites. Has anyone put up anything, or is anyone planning on doing so? I know that there are four sites in the links, and all the sites are still up (they are really quite good). Polaris

was watching a flight video of the Caspian Sea Monster wingship theres just something about the idea of an aircraft/hovercraft combination thats really scary something about a craft the size of a C5A flying along at 600kph at a nice safe altitude of 6 feet and with a 2,000 km range... has anybody tried building one was thinking of taking it a step further, and using early contragrav technology to augment the lift provided http://www.se-technology.com/wig/index.php

14.5 mm AAR (Antiarmor Rifle a.k.a "Crunch Gun") Length 260cm, Weight 53.787 kg loaded Fires a 14.5 x 146.7 mm Discarding sabot round ATRI level 7 3d6 RKA increased range (600") (+ 1/4) 5 shots (-3/4) Active cost 56 Real cost 32 STR Min 20 Has a Bipod Notes: I really wanted this gun to end up doing more damage given the sheer terror it used to inspire in my players, but i converted the damage 2 ways at it kept coming out at 3d6. It penetrates 6 cm of steel (def 7 and 3 body) , or against a unarmored human it does 12d6 damage 42 avg, and the stock NPC has 40 hits (then they are dead / unconscious bleeding to death), so that comes out to 10 body also.

Another Doctor Who themed question: if you could pplay an original version of the Docotr who looked, dressed and acted any way you like, what would he (or she -- some fans have posited the posibility that regenration might be capable of altering gender) be like? Character sheets would be welcome in this discussion.

While doing my usual gaming stuff, I'm spending a couple of hours a day setting up a home-brewed Star Hero sector. I've come across something problematic, though. For the Energy Alien archetype, the Damage Shield is Always On and Inherent. Inherent means it can't be Drained, but does that also mean it can't be Suppressed? I was thinking they'd probably need some kind of protective suit, both to protect others from them and to avoid damaging their surroundings if they weren't shielded. If it can't be suppressed, how could I design a containment suit with the extant game mechanics?

Anyone have some interesting BIO-ware or Cyber-ware out there? I thought it would be nice to see what people out there and what we could come up with. Drakkenkin

Just thought of this and wondered what other people thought. In Star Trek TOS it was quite common for one crewman to be monitoring the "sensors". When some kind of threat appeared, someone else, usually Spock, would "take over" and "see" things that the other crewman was not able to "see". So, how do you build this? Should Sensors be something like: UV Perception: Only Useable by Others, OAF Bulky (Sensor Array) And each character using the Sensors must make his own PER roll when he uses them? This would make sense in the situation above, since the person with the higher INT (Spock) is the one who can "see" more. Also, the "more experienced…

I'm considering a concept for building ablative force fields (actually Force Walls in this case), in which the ablative effect is on the field's power supply rather than the defensive value of the shield itself. Basically, the idea is that the shield draws a minimal amount of energy to maintain itself, but dissipating the energy of an attack draws a great deal more; the exact energy drain would depend on the potency of the incoming attack. My first thought is to build the Force Wall with an automatic END Drain Side Effect which activates whenever it comes under attack, the only (minor) problem being that the Side Effect would have to be proportional to the attack whi…

As with many others, I'm very saddened by the weak showing of the Star Hero line. Probably it just isn't a very good time in general for sci-fi games, with the Lord of the Rings movies exciting people over the fantasy genre. In particuar, I'm sorry to see Scourges Of The Galaxy dropped from the publication list. I had been hoping to lean on that book heaviliy for opponent ideas in my eventual SH campaign; its absence will make my work that much more difficult (possibly difficult enough to scuttle any further work on it -- but we shall see). Hopefully it'll show up early in the 2005 schedule. I'm also disappointed (albeit a little less so) in the dropping of Gal…

Lookit me crosspost! I mentioned this in the Non-Gaming Discussion forum but then it occurred to me that it was certainly StarHero Worthy. Forget the trailer you may have seen in the theatre for THE CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK and go see the two minute intro on the website: http://www.thechroniclesofriddick.com Suddenly I want to see this thing!
