Re: from little plot seeds, mighty games do grow: Share your ideas!

Some of these ideas are similar to Captain Chronos' seeds located here

Timelapse

1)Glory Days-Villain Style: Timelapse grows tired of interference by certain heroes and authorities, so appears to several supervillains who are now too long in the tooth to be the major threats they used to be. He offers to youthen them, in exchange they will wreck havoc upon certain parts of town. The reasons for his chosen targets aren't clear, but even if it is merely distraction (and it maybe more than that), Timelapse is rapidly assembling a veritable army! One of the retired villains, having mended his/her ways, now younger escapes to the PCs to warn them. Can the PCs stop Timelapse's plan, and will the former villain/ess who warned them get out of this with his/her restored youth intact, or will the time manipulating supervillain age said person to dust as a 'lesson'.

2)Temporal Relations: Normally, Captain Chronos would be immune to most of Timelapse's powers, but the PCs stumble onto a badly beaten Captain, and a gloating Timelapse. It would seem, either via agents, trickery, and/or some device he's found, Timelapse has defeated his major obstacle. Vanishing, he leaves him for dead. When the PCs move the Captain's mask to tend to his health, they are shocked to discover he looks like an older Timelapse. Could the two be related? Or more ... is it Timelapse's future to become Captain Chronos? And, if so, why does the latter need foci when the former doesn't?

3) Villains R Us?: The PCs begin their day, stretch, and put on their supervillain costumes... wait a minute. That's right, their history has been changed. Every good influence that motivated them to become superheroes, every choice they made, has been redirected. Role models were discredited or died early so they never had a chance to influence the PCs, things went wrong, and they were driven to "Crime" and ended up as very different persons... they remember it all so clearly. However, they also have fleeting memories of their 'true' lives as superheroes. Both memories show brief flashes of a disquieting stranger... TIMELAPSE! He has altered their past. The PCs have twenty four hours before their 'new history' settles in entirely, and they forget they were ever the superheroes of the city. For non time travelers, that is going to mean getting help, or tech. Of course, now hunted by the law, complications may arise.

(For an even meaner situation, have the PCs be truly powerless as their origins are undone. Maybe the high tech guy somehow never made it to college etc)

Entropy

Ways of the Flesh: Entropy learns of the mutated bio-kinetic villain Fleshtone, and believes that his power to warp flesh is one manifestation of Chaos, like Entropy's own abilities. Entropy believes that he can absorb Fleshtone's power into himself, becoming even mightier.

Fleshtone seeks out the PCs at their headquarters or during some public appearance. Rather than fighting them, the terrified villain begs them to protect him from Entropy who has been pursuing him, and against whom his own powers are useless. When Entropy appears the heroes have to decide whether to protect this loathsome villain. If they can't or won't, Entropy will drain him and become a far deadlier menace.

This plot seed can lead directly to the following...

Random Drift: In the Mystic World, the true origin of the enigmatic Drifter is the subject of much speculation. One popular theory is that the heroic mage was empowered by a Lord of Order, perhaps even Urizen the Prime Avatar himself. That is of concern to Entropy, embodiment of the forces of Chaos and destruction. Entropy has resolved to remove this powerful potential rival and threat to his plans.

The PCs are drawn by reports of widespread, apparently random crises, to find Entropy casting some powerful spell of chaos magic. During their confrontation with the villain the Drifter appears, attracted by the same phenomenon, only to collapse in sudden pain and weakness. Entropy's magic was a trap to drain the Drifter of his Order-derived life force. Entropy carries away the debilitated mystic to finish him off, and it's up to the PCs to find and rescue him.

Champions Beyond/Teleios

This is a setting plot seed, The Secret Human Extraterrestrial Colony.

I've tied it to Teleios because the original inspiration was a Lex Luther story, and the CU has no direct equivalent to the Silver Age Luther who could go off into space, adopt an alien planet, endanger it in an extemporaneous attack on Superman, realise his error in time, and return to Earth because, unlike some aliens in the back of beyond, it's just his home planet, so why should he care if he endangers itin insane attacks on Superman? I rationalised this by deciding that Lex had already set up a secret extraterrestrial colony --that he would have nothing to do with-- so that the human race would survive if his next planetary death ray actually worked.

Lacking good reasons, I've singled out Teleios as someone who might do it for crazy ones, or because he's rationalising what is actually his creator's plan. That said, for the obsessive world-builders out there, I'm assuming that the place produces testosterone, estrogen and plasma in return for Earth goods and more people. Perhaps Teleois kidnaps folks; or perhaps whenever he clones or modifies someone he sends a control copy off to the Colony, in which case there's a lot of muscular young men running around out there.

Specific Seeds

i) Something's Out There

Some menace is on the loose in the colony, which is a free society because Teleios doesn't care how it's run. (See any old Andre Norton double book for a suitable menace,or use Maraud from Galactic Champions), and the colony sends its flying saucer to kidnap your group and set things right. Unfortunately, Teleios sends Hurricane on the same mission. He's in over his head, and you have to save him, defeat the menace, and keep your presence secret lest Teleios overreact.

ii) "When in the Course of Human Events"

The colony is a horrible eugenic slave state, full of kidnapped citizens labouring for Teleios. You lead a revolution!

iii) Bumpy Foreheads

The gang tagged along with Tetsuronin on some galaxy-spanning mission to, I don't know, fetch coffee or something. Anyway, ol'Tet won, but he's got a crazy concussion, and the ship isn't working right. You have to land on the colony for repairs, and in order to keep its secrets, the colonists all pretend to be war-like, honourable aliens or some such, with bumpy foreheads. How long will a groggy Tetsuronin buy it? And what happens when the Hzeel attack?

iv) (campaign seed) When the Magic Goes Away

..it means that the colony's flying saucer's superscience engines begin to malfunction. Your team has to nurse it back home across the galaxy with the last cargo required for colonial self-sufficiency before they give up the ghost entirely. There's specific scenarios to borrow everywhere from Fire on the Deep to Mad Max to Witches of Karres. Not to mention space pirates.

Building upon elements mentioned for this Hidden Land in Champions Universe, I give you...

The Valley Of Night

The Gathering Night: A construction/development company, or a charity, that the PCs have connections to, is having problems in northern Peru. Their facilities are being sabotaged, their personnel disappearing. The PCs are asked to investigate, and stumble upon the hidden Valley of Night and its denizens, who have been trying to prevent outsiders from discovering their land. Can the PCs reach a compromise between competing interests, or will they side with one faction or the other? And will they discover just how malevolent the Valley's inhabitants actually are?

Dreams of Darkness: The leader of one of Columbia's major drug cartels has learned of the existence of the Valley of Night, and tried to coerce its were-jaguar priests to use their dark magic to gain him more power. But the priests turn the tables on him, forcing him to serve them.

Cocaine users around the world, including in the PCs' home city, are experiencing recurring, overwhelmingly vivid nightmares of a mysterious, terrible figure bringing darkness to the whole world. The dreamers are increasingly filled with fear and despair, which manifests as more and more widespread outbreaks of violence. The priests have contaminated the cartel's drugs with their magic, causing it to bring dreams of their fearsome god. The heroes must track the drugs back to their source, and confront the magic of the Valley of Night.

Total Eclipse of the Heart: The awful deity of the Valley of Night is revealed - Eclipsar! (Champions Worldwide) In the years since her escape from Stronghold, the demon of night has hidden among her worshippers, gathering her strength and preparing a dreadful threat to the entire world. The PC heroes must penetrate the Valley of Night to stop her plan, confronting Eclipsar and her supernatural followers at the heart of their power.

Probably more for a time-travel or horror campaign than Champions, but ...

2012 brings the close of the baktun in the Mayan calendar, which is supposed to bring apocalypse of some sort.

2012 - 666 = 1346, which was right before the Black Plague started to sweep Europe.

2012 - 2 * 666 = 680. No infamous events that year that I know, though that was in the early turbulent years of the Arab conquest, so you might find something there.

2012 - 3 * 666 = 14, which had the death of Augustus.

Now: Posit some sort of magical cabal such that this stuff isn't coincidence ....

In at least one instance in the Champions Universe, it isn't. :eg:

In DEMON: Servants Of Darkness, the leader of DEMON has long woven a master plan intended to culminate in 2012 in the end of the world, and ultimately, perhaps the universe. Echoes of that might be found in those incidents in the past.

Re: from little plot seeds, mighty games do grow: Share your ideas!

There have been sightings of large Velociraptors in the Maze section of Utah's Island in the Sky state park. Now a camper has been eaten. Time for a dino hunt in the most complex system of canyons in the world.

North Korea's Camp 22 is a pit of human rights violations that stagger belief. A prisoner is empowered when an experimental biowarfare agent is tested on her, giving her an ability (Desolidification maybe or megascale Teleport) that allows her to escape. The rest of her family is still in the camp and she is begging the heroes to help her rescue them, if they haven't already been executed for her escape. All they have to do is invade North Korea and find one family out of 50,000 prisoners in an area the size of Los Angeles. You can check Camp 22 on Google Earth for horrid details, it is not a read for the faint of heart. It does give a good description of the concentration camp, though.

Black Harlequin and Teleios:

Black Harlequin decides one day that his next set of Escapades will be based

on song titles that he's heard in the past, but in order to pull them off, he

needs to enlist the assisstance of Teleios. A few weeks later, the PCs find

themselves facing such menaces as giant, superhumanly strong chickens

wearing martial-arts uniforms and masks (and using kung-fu moves, to boot),

not to mention gigantic, building-eating cockroaches. What will the PCs do

when the Black Harlequin's next threat happens to be inspired by the song

"Godzilla"?

I recognize BOC's Godzilla, but what are the other songs?

BoloOfEarth: Yep, "The Cockroach That Ate Cincinnati" is indeed the second

song.

The Bunneh: The first song is "Teenage Kung-Fu Mutant Chickens".

Now, my question is: Who's BOC? I've heard some of the song "Godzilla",

but I've never heard the name of the group that performed it.

"The Cockroach That Ate Cincinnati" was done by Tom Lehrer. Some of his

other songs are "Masochism Tango" and "Poisoning Pigeons In The Park"

(both of which sound like appropriate hobbies for someone like BH).

"Teenage Mutant Kung-Fu Chickens" is a Ray Stevens song (the man who

gave us such songs as "50 Ways To Get Bin Laden", "Ahab The Arab",

"Harry The Hairy Ape", and, of course, "The Streak").

Telios and the mystery of missing Champions of Vancouver.

WARNING! Pyre Archer and Evil Steve KEEP OUT!

The Champions of Vancouver vanished without a trace shortly after defeating the Crowns of Krim, (the IHA's) Project Genocide, and hammering VIPER during the struggle for control of the Pacific Northwest territories. Suddenly they return, but not as Heroes, but Villains.

The original Champions of Vancouver were in truth cloned Superhumans created by Telios to prevent other Superheroes from discovering his activities, covering his tracks, and keeping out Superhuman Threats like VIPER, DEMON, etc... from playing in his sand box.

The clones were recalled to update their biological systems.

A new campaign concept perhaps?

Cheers
