Lockdown
Re: Comics you loved...but apparently no one else did my favorite was DAMMAGE from DC, it was well done untill the last few issues where they were doing some lame and outragous showing how he had all the DNA of the heros in the DC universe that could be collected. OK i can understand a few.. but all of em?? jeez!!!
BigJackBrass
Re: Comics you loved...but apparently no one else did I really don't like the Showcase concept... Fair enough. There ought to be enough shelf space for showcases and mini-series, but these days the mini is certainly king. Perhaps they are seen as having more appeal to collectors? Anyway, back to the thread: Anyone remember DC's Major Bummer? (Which was, ironically, a mini-series!) It got off to a good start, but I missed the conclusion. Never saw anything else of the character after that.

Mike W
Re: Comics you loved...but apparently no one else did When Marvel went through their stretch in the early 90s of creating tons of new characters, I thought the Nightwatch character had a lot of potential, but of course when they gave him a short series, they just put him in a time loop that he couldn't break and then left him there. Vondy
Re: Comics you loved...but apparently no one else did Wait. The 'Nam was set in the real world, or so I recall. How could a Marvel Universe character show up in it? That would be what killed it. It was done because Punisher was new and all the rage at the time and they wanted to boost sales. So, suddenly, pre-punisher frank castle shows up in The 'Nam.
BNakagawa
Re: Comics you loved...but apparently no one else did Also, stuff that really amuses me, but doesn't exactly fly off of shelves: Savage Henry, Those Annoying Post Bros. casualplayer
Re: Comics you loved...but apparently no one else did People have been showing much love for John Ostrander; did anyone else read Wasteland? Co-written with Del Close with a rotating quartet of artists, and Vertigo before Vertigo. It was mental, but so good. Many of the comics I adored are being resurrected. I've had new Jon Sable, Grimjack and Maze Agency recently and I am well pleased. First Comics is virtually resurrected, now if someone would resurrect Eclipse Comics life would be great. I would love to see new Justice Machine and Hero Alliance also. Might as well wish for some Willingham Elementals while I'm at it.
BcAugust
Re: Comics you loved...but apparently no one else did Hmm, I'll be an wierd one here. I liked Darkhold(Marvel, early 90's) Though the art was awful, the storylines tended to be very solid and good, a perfect way to, as another thread puts is, do CoC in a superhero univers. And the characters... the characters made this book. Anyone else ever read it? Blade, The Vampire Hunter(mid 90's) I've read two printings of this series out. Good stuff. It's far more Tomb of Dracula then Nightstalkers, and there are a lot of moments when...let's just say there's reasons Blade doesn't consider himself a hero(He nearly turns a dying friend of his into a vampire, even though he knows it would endanger his friend's soul, to see if he can save two other friends of his). And the mysteries.... argh, I'd so love to see them take up even one of the threads of this book. Black Lamb(Helix, don't remember) I picked this up because it seemed... neat. Was not expecting the very black sense of humor in the slightest. And the main character *shudders*, was a good story, though I'm torn on deciding if it's good or not they didn't continue it, it was a complete story. But darn it, I want more of the world. (ps. On the age thing I just read, I'm 28. And I've read good comics, it's just hard to say, oh, Crimson, Out There or a few others when they were very popular.) If you count both versions, yeah, it got to 10. You're talking about the Eradicators comic from Silverwolf Publishing. That company later resurfaced as Greater Mercury Publishing. Try here. http://www.keithpaquette.com/silverwolfcomics/index.html Y'know, I once wrote up a dozen or so of those characters in HERO. Co-written with Del Close with a rotating quartet of artists, and Vertigo before Vertigo. It was mental, but so good. Wasteland was amazing. It was how I learned what a bezoar is. In the Ostrander vein, the Manhunter series was awesome too (although I never really had a thing for Doug Rice's art). The next few are a bit shameful: Stryke Force, Pitt and Youngblood. In each of them I loved for what they could be, not what they tragically were (which was a steaming pile in all three cases....excepting of course the Alan Moore Youngblood). Some of mine were: John Sable The DNAgents E-Man ( loved the Mr.Z and the B-Team) Mike Mauser V DC Comics The Futurians The Elemenatals ( I remeber waiting years for Issue #3 ) Of course I never bought any, had plenty of friends with more dollars than sense.
