Your character gets 50 points for a base

More of a fun What Would you Do for your Character rather than a What would your character do...

Let's say your GM suddenly goes insane...(In some cases 'er') and announces EVERY PC in his game has just been given 50 bonus exp ONLY for the purpose of getting a private base. That's right, no team base pooling. This base is meant to fit your character's sensibilities, needs, and tastes. You get to make a brief backstory on how your character got it, but even that doesn't have to be totally plausible. Add in points from disads, and this could be a nice set up, your own batcave, fortress of solitude, Baxter building rip off.

So, what sort of base do you make for your character, what would it look like, and what goodies would you put in it.

Re: Your character gets 50 points for a base

Audra Blue already has arguably the most effective base in the campaign.

I don't remember how much 50pts will get you. For Anthem it's likely to be a small facility regardless, probably built off of the basement of a small house in a declining neighborhood (she feels she needs to live where the action is). It's likely well hidden, includes a small workout area with practice dummies for hand-to-hand and shurikens, a PC with as much data as she can gather about villains. In fact, that's probably where a good portion of the points go; Into getting her own bat-computer that can research the badguys. Storywise it's likely a data dump that Audra Blue gave her for personal use. The base colors would be subdued, the area would be simple and clean, likely padded and sound-proofed to some degree, and with some external hidden cameras.

I can't find my Champions book with the examples, but assuming you get 50 points in exp to blow on a base, that's a 250 point base not counting the disads. I'd say you'd have a lot of room to play with :) So go nuts if need be.

Re: Your character gets 50 points for a base

Jack "Crash" Parker: Jack would go the X-mansion route. He already has a mansion next door to his bosses mansion. There is already a tunnel connecting the 2 mansions. He'd have a nice sized secure facility built under his mansion. It would need a submarine dock and underwater tunnel leading to the bay (He's based in San Fransisco) for his submersible helecopter. a kick-@$$ computer would be bought to monitor and run the place. No A.I., but powerful.

There would be plenty of sensors and cameras. Tons of entertianment systems. A huge library. There needs to be a huge, very secure vault. Jack has gotten a list of "banned" magic items and artifacts from the games Guardian of Magic in this realm. He is always on the lookout for these items and would like a place to put them before he can get them to the Guardian. The vault would probably be bought with plenty of magic suppression.

The motor pool would have platforms that can lower his many vehicles from his garage area down into the bases much best mechanics and electronics lab. He'd probably hire a full time "super" mechanic to keep his vehicles up.

Marksman would rebuild his base that his team got destroyed, this time Minotaur and Cerebus would not find out where it is

It was a warehouse in a poor neiborhood, high concealment, lots of criminology style labs, a targetting range, and place to work on his bike. It would be handicap accessable as his brother and tech support is in a chair (Yes a male oracle with building gear skills)

Sylph already has a personal base, only it cost her 1 point, not 50. So she gets 245 points worth of new toys to stack in it. That's a lot of divine magic!

Probably what would actually happen is that she would acquire a gateway within her treehouse to the Land of Legends, and her actual demense would reside there. Dionysus would be sure to stock it with all the amenities appropriate for a Maenad of her standing... which might not be entirely advantageous to her self-control. ;)

Soulbarb: Probably depends on what game I'm running her in. The most likely answer is something reminiscent of the batcave, with an occult bent, but how mundane or magical it is depends a great deal on context.

Mr. Terrific would build something lavish, hidden, remote, and fortified, and then never spend time in it because it's obviously just a set-up for the GM to load full of hidden traps and squash him in it. He'd rent it out to ditzy superhero wannabees.

"St Barbara" would probably have a mixture of the latest high tech toys arrayed in the most sensual rooms that she could devise. Strobe or other lighting,an enormous bed with a mirror above it,life sized photos of herself (in uniform, and in other outfits, rated from PG to XXX !) on the walls. Pictures of family and friends. Latest communication equipment, home theatre t v, hi fi etc , etc. Extra large shower recess in en suite bathroom (for sharing !) and bookcases and a desk with comfy chair.;)

The Ghost would create some form of extra-dimentional space linked to the physical world by gateways, like the Master of the Circle has (Organization Book 1#, I believe.........;) ). Maybe a cavern lair in a floating astroid within an atmosphere bubble overlooking the Spinning Spirals of Chaos, held in place by mystic forces. Within, a cool "Dr. No"-like atmosphere.

Gotta be a base? Not a vehicle? Arguably' date=' Nemo's [i']Nautilus[/i] was both.

Yup ... my base would have wheels. :doi:

Mine would have a hyperdrive (or a warp core).

Assault's base would have a hot tub, and a really big TV, which would double as the TroublAlert. And possibly a teleporter, because it wouldn't be in town. Other than that it would basically just be a run-down farmhouse up in the hills, out of sight of the nearest neighbours.

Quetzelcoatl (if he were still alive) would probably get an abandoned villain group's underground lair (a Viper base or the like.)

His backstory already includes owning a dojo; in game justification could be that after the villains were defeated and captured, and THEIR dojo publicly exposed as the place they recruited and trained minions, their dojo was seized and confiscated, then auctioned off by the authorities. In his secret ID as Mr. Matsudo he just thought this was a good opportunity to expand his business, and only discovers as he's remodeling that this was ALSO the entrance to their Super Secret Lair.

Or maybe he knew all along and just didn't tell anybody, because he's a super detective and the sort of person who checks things out before buying them and he noticed their monthly utility bills were way more than a martial arts studio's should be...

Amphibian would probably get an underwater lair, perhaps an advance military base that the Atlanteans were forced to abandon after their last defeat by the Olympians.

Re: Your character gets 50 points for a base

the new englander

assuming a rather large cash reward for an insurance investigation case for example he would discretely buy out the old building he currently uses as his PI offices

(he could have swanky new offices but he wanted more of a Raymond Chandler vibe plus being a superhero tends to push the rent up and the security deposit).

he would use his contacts with the department of administrative affairs(the UK ministry for extra-normal affairs) to arrange for the building to be reinforced and a state of the art security system put in

then set up the building with a number of labs

a garage/machine shop to upgrade and repair his equipment and transport

surveillance/media suite for assembling evidence

dojo/gym to improve his combat skills and ensure fitness(if possible with a Holo sparing program)

a fairly well equipped crime lab

and devote an entire floor to a large well stocked library

he would also convert the top floor into luxury apartment for him and his staff

and a roof garden

finally he would install a high end computer and communications system

oh and just a quick question on this topic.

What is the best way to buy a library with a lot of general information on a whole host of subjects?

Jake the Troll - Under the Mountain, baby! Just call me Mr. Underhill. Huh? Oh, yeah, that's totally a Tolkien rip, isn't it...Anyway, it would rock! And he could have his friends over, and maybe he could convince a valkyrie (if he could ever find one) to scope out his pad when his parents weren't there.

Shinji Miromoto - Super Interdimensional Fortress JX Alpha. In his case, it really WOULD be an interdimensional fortress, probably off in a stabalized portion of the Dark Dimension. The Dark Congress has some schematics of such bases, but they tend to be tied to the life energies of the builder, and as such violates the Evil Overlord principle of "Never design a base that will self-destruct upon my own demise."

Icon - Eh, probably just a nice office near Quantico. She's got federal connections, so she really doesn't NEED her own base.

KS: General Stuff 30- which is a very broad category and unlikely to have a given bit of info.

Or, KS: [Dewey Decimal Category] 30- with one for each category in the system. With a helping of KS that are outside that purview such as mystic knowledges (The Mystic World is a generalized broad category), Superhero World, etc...

If allowed:

VPP: KS Only in some variation could be appropriate.
