He was on hospice all of 3 weeks.  Passed away this past Thursday afternoon, peacefully and in no pain, with family and friends by his side.  I missed being there by 5-10 minutes, but at least he wasn't alone.  And I got to see him practically every day for the last few months, and spent about 4 hours with him Wednesday evening.

This was a man who finished high school and worked his way through college during the end of the Great Depression, flew B-24 bombers out of Italy during WWII, and not a word of complaint.  Even taking into account my own bias, I think he was one of the greatest men I've ever met, and I was blessed to have him as my father, and in my life as long as he was.

I have yet to have a player say, "Hey, I paid points for [thing] but it's never come into play."  Then again, I also haven't ever had a player complain, "I got points for [Complication] but it's never come into play."

As GM I do try to work in various odd bits that characters have paid for.  (For example, Circe the mentalist has KS: Fashion, so I had her interact with a supervillain - who worked as a male model before getting his powers - having a relatively long discussion about superhero / supervillain fashions in the middle of a fight, rather than actually, y'know, fighting.)

Sometimes, it's up to the player to find ways to use the things he paid for.  If a character has Bureaucratics and the team is investigating an office building they suspect is owned by VIPER, there's nothing stopping that hero from going down to City Hall and finding a way to get the building's blueprints, or tracking down the building's ownership, or whatever else might be useful.

BoloOfEarth got a reaction from Killer Shrike in Classic/80s Champions Villains
If you're interested in Deathstroke, in addition to the 2nd edition module, they were updated in the 4th edition Champions Universe book.  Two of them (Requiem and Frost, IIRC) also appear in the 5th Ed Stronghold book, and again in the 6th edition Champions Villains Volume 2 - Villain Teams book.  (I wasn't happy with the killing of Death Commando, Shockwave, Stinger, and Scatterbrain, so I decided that didn't happen in my game world.)  I don't recall the 2E versions being very detailed and never actually ran a game in 2E; I used the 4E versions or updated them for use in later Champions editions.

    Elaborate.  (just kidding)

I finally got to watch this over the past few days.  Enjoyed it a lot.  After watching the first 4 episodes, I mentioned to my daughter that she might like it, especially Five.  That was Saturday.  By Sunday she had binge-watched all 10 episodes.  And I was right, Five was her favorite character, followed by Ben and Klaus.

She did say something to the effect that "it seems like the whole team only has five brain cells that they pass between them, and Five usually has like three of them."  She watched a few episodes with me, and there were occasions where she'd point out, "Oh, it's Diego's turn with some brain cells" or "Hey, Luther got to use a brain cell!"

Happened to another player.  Rolled a 3 on the Activation Roll for a Force Wall to imprison one of the Seven Horsemen.

As we're debating on what that 3 means, we recall this particular Horseman can just Desolid through the FW.

The GM says "I know exactly what effect that 3 has."   Horseman when 'thunk' against the Force Wall that wouldn't let him through.

If the character is wearing or wielding an Obvious focus in a darkness field, does the focus shine through?

Does a Flashed character still perceive those Obvious foci?

    Obviously not.

I think sense-affecting powers override the obviousness of the focus.  If we have Captain Cheesy trying to get around his foci limitations because he has Invisibility, we can simply reduce the value of his limitation as his LimburgerObvious is clearly less limiting.

In a fantasy (heroic level, with characters not paying points for equipment, so they can't actually make that OAF sword as IAF or the OIF armor as IIF), I'd consider an Advantage on Invisibility to be appropriate.  Heck, it might make sense in a Champions game as well -- if you make Ninja Man's katana an IAF, that means it's even Inobvious when he's not invisible, which doesn't make a lot of sense.  And to be honest, I don't think I'd want to wade through the muck of figuring out costs to have a conditional focus (OAF only when not invisible, IAF only when invisible), if that's even a thing.  Or going through the time and aggravation to figure out naked costs of buying down each and every focus only when Invisibility is active.

BoloOfEarth got a reaction from Amorkca in Mental Entangle
Several PCs in my Champions game have Mental Paralysis or a variation thereof (one is a mental maze that works vs. INT instead of STR or EGO).  Yes, it can be an instant shutdown power, although a few select villains have had a few powers that made it less of a problem.  And most villain teams have a mentalist who can generally blow through a Mental Entangle with a single Mental Blast.

My current favorite "Mental Entangle Defense" power is:  Neural Freedom Shield:  Drain BODY 1½d6, AoE (Personal Surface; +¼), ACV (OMCV vs. DMCV; +¼), AVAD (Mental Defense; +0), Constant (+½), AP (+¼), Fully Invisible (+1), 0 END (+½); No Range (-½), Mental Contact Only (-½), Only vs. Mental Entangles (-½).  56 AP, 22 RP.

An average roll of 5 BODY, minus the (likely halved) MD on the entangle, leaves 3-4 BODY, which only Drains 2 since BODY is a defense power, but that may be enough to take it down.  And since it's a damage shield, it doesn't take the character's action to do its job.  You can imagine the players' surprise when the villain apparently shrugged off the mental paralysis like it wasn't even there.
