Your Critter Army

Recommended Posts

Having just scene Ant-Man & The Wasp I am reminded of the age old question, what would be the best critter army? By best I mean favorite, or what would you choose as your critter army?

We've seen ants, rats, squirrels, cockroaches, fish, and many others. So what would you choose to be your army?

That depends on the operating environment and strategic goals.  I mean, the turkey vultures have been doing just fine for me, but I'm not going to use them to overrun a seafloor installation.

Err, they would do just fine for a lot of things.  If I had other things on my agenda.  Err, other agenda things and an animal army was useful for.  If I had an animal army.

Guess I better stop now. :hush:

Most dangerous predator to ever evolve on the planet.

Although there's something to be said for palindromedaries....

If the humans have weapons, and/or time to prepare. Not so good unarmed in spontaneous situations, against most other animals close to their size.

I'd go with birds. They're highly mobile, and the smaller ones can easily operate in confined spaces. In swarms almost any type of bird can inflict significant cumulative damage to an unarmored opponent, while the likes of raptors can deliver vicious wounds. At the very least they can blind and confuse opponents. And in most environments there are almost always substantial numbers of birds around.

Just ask Alfred Hitchcock. Oh wait, that would be rather difficult now...

Birds. Specifically corvids. They come in a variety of sizes for a variety of missions, they're smart, black goes with anything, and they're menacing enough to be cool and fit evil plans (would you take a supervillain with an army of parakeets seriously?) but not so menacing that they wouldn't fit for a hero. They leave options open.

The answer to this is more humans.

Or, to be more in line with the spirit of the thread, I might go with rats.  They'd beat any of the other suggestions so far.

While playing a game of D&is I accidentally cast "Melf's Minute Meteors" as "Melf's Minute Minotaurs". The DM ruled that My character could cast "Minute Minotaurs".

So that is my second critter to join the Lions-as-small-dogs. Now I have my own cavalry .
