Okay, the map got me curious... The other stuff on the setting in the Free stuff gave me some very brief hints... but if it doesn't violate anything important, and for those in the know: What are the nations in this setting like? Is there a standard "Fantasy Kingdom" complete with (mostly) Benevolent Monarchy with knights and so forth? Is there a mysterious area ruled by a conclave of wizards with fell (deserved or not) repuation? Is there a pleasant rural area where the next crop of victims... err, adventurers can blossom forth? Is there a nordic or celtic like region? Is there a nation or two that breaks these classic types?

Since we're asking a lot of questions about the new FH world, I figured I'd chime in since I'm rapidly approaching being this '' close to buying it as soon as financially feasible ... What are the official races of the world? I'm presuming it wouldn't be particularly difficult to homebrew one's own, but what kinds of races officially occupy the various lands? Are there new, unique races, or is it the standard Tolkien-esque stuff? Most importantly, did the 4E Felines survive the transition? *mew*

What "type" of setting is the Turakian Age? It's described as high fantasy, but could anyone elaborate? Is it generic fantasy (such as a Greyhawk type of world)? Or does it have a more original feel and atmosphere (like Earthdawn or Dark Sun)? With Steve Long as the author, you know it's going to be a very well realized world at least! But I'd love to know more about it before plunging in and buying it.

Anyone here use any ideas from the Deed of Paksennarion by Elizabeth Moon? Or have read the books. I'm re-reading it right now and while i wouldn't use the world whole cloth, it has some great ideas in it.

Hello all, I was wondering if anyone could help me with some climate help. I'm trying to get a solid feel for what the climate and rough ecology would be for the area outlined in a red box. The big black line across the top of the map is the equator. http://www.kamarathin.com/sk_climate.htm

Now that the Turakian Age is on the way, and was such a massive undertaking, any idea if the Valdorian Age is still scheduled for September? Just wondering as once TA arrives in a week or two I'm looking forward to seeing the Fantasy Hero Sword & Sorcery setting, the Conan game has refreshed my interest. Anyone else looking forward to this too? Anyone have any further information?

Weapons in Hero are assumed to stay ready once you have readied them. You can use them over and over again. But unbalanced weapons such as axes become unreadied after each use and must be re-readied. This limitation makes it so that after a weapon is used - to attack or block - it becomes unready and must be re-readied before it can be used again. It makes axes and other unbalanced weapons cheaper but a little bit worse then swords. Note that this does not have a huge effect in straight fighting as you can ready for 1/2 phs and then attack for 1/2 phs. It does prevent moving and attacking, sweeping multiple opponents, or blocking multiple opponents. T…

Hello all, How do you handle making equipment out of special materials? Do you just arbitrarily add in modifiers or construct ads/lims to effect the points value of the equipment? My preference is to just add additional lims and such to bring the items into "balanced" point range. The reason for this is I'm still debating on whether or not I want prices to be roughly based on the Real/Active cost of the item. But what are your opinions?

This is based on the spreadable part of the energy blast. It lets a dc be used for a +1 OCV, I don't allow it to be used to hit multiple hexes or targets since melees can sweep for that. So it is a limited form of spreadable. For weapon design you buy the advantage for 1dc per 18" of blade or striking surface on the weapon. So a dagger is none, a short sword is 1dc spreadable, a 2 handed sworded is 4dc spreadable. The idea is that for maximum damage you try to hit at or near the tip of the weapon - this gives it the most leverage. But you can aim for further down on the weapon, giving you a better chance to hit (since you have a bigger area to hit with) but …

I figure this might be more interesting to guys who do more HERO-scale gaming, so I'll post a link here. My group has been using this alternate hit-location system for a while, and it's just plain fun. Give it a try for a session...it'll add spice to your fantasy combats, and your players will like it. http://www.herogames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16085

Warriors can wear armor almost continuously. All they need is to spend a few points to buy off any DEX and DVC penalties (if any) and have a high enough strength that encumbrance is not an issue. It stands to reason the wizards should be able to have some sort of always on protection as well. It is recommended in the HUGE Fantasy Hero book that GMs do not allow any magical spells/effect that doesn’t run on endurance. It’s obviously a balance issue and I can see there point. However I already ignore this rule on a fell small spells such as Light Spells. So I guess I need to ignore it for this effect as well. So I am thinking something like this: …

The Dovani are used to traveling through rugged mountainous terrains and are known to need very little sleep. On average they only need to sleep two out of every three days.

Here is the Dovani again, but this time I've added the Package Deal for them. Let me know if you think it fits the description.

Hello all, Busily working on the beginnings of my campaign. I'm starting on a very small scale in a medium-sized town in a very small country that is fairly isolated from the rest of the world. The Ugdul are the primary race in this land (Mak-Ugdul), with several small populations of humans (Dovani, Badreen and Ichoko)and a smal population of elves (Penztah). Here is the write-up for the Ugdul. Let me know what you think.

Just a comment...info looks good, defently complete from what I remember of the playtest copy. My only complaint is there are 3 pages at the end of the PDF with nothing but header and footer text.

Hopefully the title doesn't thrown anyone off -- I'm sure the HDv2 is very helpful for experienced HERO GMs. I'm just starting to get into the HERO system (going to play my first HERO system game at Origins this year). My question is does HDv2 make it easier or harder to learn the rules of the system? At this point I'm planning on picking up the rulebook, Sidekick, FH, and Turakian Age so I can try getting used to the rules. I'm on the fence about HDv2, though. Thoughts? Thanks...

Hi all, I'm designing a sword'n'sorcery/pulp sci-fi campaign, like Barsoom meets Flash Gordon the movie, meets RIFTS Atlantis. Anyhow everything that is out of the norm, such as skyships, attack sleds, blaster weapons, automatons etc are powered by different types of "tke" (telekinectic energy) crystals which when brought into close proximity to a certain metallic elements will give off energy until depleted. I'm stuck on how to design the blasters in the rules. What I want is a blaster that takes a few seconds to charge up before shooting, then must recharge after each shot, taking as much time as a Pike and Shot era musket or pistol would. Should it be an activa…

I usually lurk around these boards, but now I feel complelled to ask a question. Looking at all the threads, I see a great deal about magic systems and spells and etc. But what about the opposite number. I mean the warrios and the rogues. Magic is great, but how do you keep it so the warriors have their neat abilities to play with. What do you do in your campaign so that the hand to hand guys go "WOW! that is one mean ability." Jerome

Fantasy HERO!! I recently purchased Fantasy Hero and was wondering about converting other materials like AD&D, D&D and Rolemaster over. I know the last edition of Fantasy Hero had a conversion section but this new book doesn't.
