Hi, I hope this is the right place to post this! I bought the source code for Hero Designer some time ago (on another account; I forgot I had this one. D'oh!) Anyway, I finally taught myself enough Java to add some new features to the software, and now I'd like to donate my version back to Hero Games. Can some Admin tell me how to properly do this? The things I've added include: Added in all the new Powers from APG2 Added the ability to give Common Modifiers to Compound Powers Added a few new tags Added "Slot Cost" to items within Multipowers; Changed "Real Cost" to show cost before MP divisor Wrote a .reg file so one …

The "Print to pdf" function in HD (Build 20190530) is not working, regardless of what kind of character I try to "Print", I always get the exact same error message (screencap attached for reference).

I am trying make a power where the character is Invisibility to Infrared Perception. What is the best way to do that with the Hero Designer without have to select a sense power first and give it No Fringe? Would I better of creating it as a Custom Power where I use Custom Adder then edit the text of the Power by changing the Custom Adder to No Fringe?

Build 20210804 I bought a skill (Computer Programming) at the 10- (Proficiency) level and then tried to add five points to it through Custom Adder. Those additional points weren't added to the cost unless I picked a full skill roll. When I picked Familiarity or Proficiency, they didn't add on. EDIT: Saved the character and then re-opened it, and the extra points were added then. Nothing else changed.

When a package deal is set to automatically load a prefab, does it embed the prefab into the package deal somehow? If I was providing the file(s), would I need to provide both, in other words?

Anyone know what changes/fixes etc. are in the "new" 8/1/22 version? (go to herogames.com, click store, click manage purchases, scroll to HD, and voila, 8/1/22 version available for download) Just curious since HD doesn't have a "release notes" file that lists changes in each release. I'm trying to replicate some of the Templates in Kazei 5 for 6th ed, and the Basic Cyborg Template has: Cyborg Body: Swimming -4m (-2 points) I cannot seem to make this in the Prefab I am making ("New Prefab") because it won't let me add negative distance to Swimming. Ideas?

Is there an export template that will calculate STR Min weapon damage (5th or 6th edition). If I go into the weapon and actually change the STR Min to the official amount (instead of a range) it works, sometimes. And when it does work, you have to look through all the text and find the part that says "Xd6 with STR". And when it does work, damage maximums are ignored. I am not a coder. HTML coding is way above my pay grade, when I read the explanation of how to do it, it just makes my head spin. Metacreator calculates all of this by default with no problems. In my mid 50's and I have had to turn on UI scaling to be able to read things on computers. The joys of age. But Hero Designer ignores this. Everything is so small that I can not read it. I found that you should be able to use Java to change the font size, but that does not work: java -Dsun.java2d.uiScale=2 -jar HD6.jar This makes the program unusable by me and I bought the HSEG HD Files to use with them, which I can't do. Anyone found a solution to this or am I just out the money for something I can't use?

I probably have an older version of Hero Designer. The .jar file says HDv3 and the program says it is Hero Designer 6 [build 20130424]. It won't let me update, so I've been using it, and it has been fine. I created some Prefabs. I was making different body types for heroic campaigns. I saved them all...but the folder I saved them to shows only one file (I named them all "BODY: xyz" with different descriptions. The "Body.hdp" file shows as 0kb in size. Attempting to load prefabs doesn't work...but opening recent files DID...until I started opening them in sequence and they began to replace the others. Anyway, I clearly did so…

When I try to set up a Naked Advantage I can select advantages, note the active points they apply to, and note what they apply to, but when the ability is finished it always has a zero active point cost, zero real cost, and zero END cost... Has anyone else had this happen...? I'm using Build 20120316

Hey folx, I'm trying to add the standard combat maneuvers to character sheets to help with their use in Combat Manager. This has generated two questions: Is there a way to add a divider to Martial Arts to group related maneuvers together? For example, how can I group the maneuvers a character knows from aikido separately from those they know from savate? Is there a way to reduce the cost of a martial art maneuver to zero? Many thanks. If I can figure it out, I promise to make a prefab for it.

I am not, necessarily, looking for help from any specific person but more like an, in general, request for assistance with Export Formats. There are a couple of things I would LIKE to do with EFs. All of these issues I can edit the RTF after exporting and tweak what I need, but then I end up with a checklist of changes and stuff gets forgotten and missed. I am hoping to make this an Export and Run affair. I've been playing with them for the past six weeks or so and I have gotten them really close to what I want (even if I don't necessarily understand how everything specifically works. When printing a Character Sheet the Combat Maneuvers section is over printing into the Powers sections. The Basic combat maneuvers in addition to the Martial Arts Attacks purchased for the character section is extending into the power section when printing and making page unreadable. it is possible to turn off or eliminate the printing of the basic combat maneuvers (ie Block, brace, disarm, dodge, grab, etc., etc..? This would leave just the Martial Arts I purchased to show.... Please advise..

I am trying to give my Character Experience point. So I enter the points in the experience points earned field; Then I go buy the Power/Characteristics I want, and the experience point spent field doesn't update. I tried to save Character to see if it updates after saving and there is no Change.... How do I get the XP Spent Field to Update ?

I am attempting to convert a 4th Ed Character to 5th Edition using the Heroes Designer. However, neither the Elemental Control, Multipower, or Unified Power are showing on my screen. I am attempting to create a 4D6 Spherical Entangle with and AOE of 4" Radius; But the HD5 only allows me to create a 3" Radius per 1D6, or a 12"Radius for a 4D6; I want a 4" Radius (8 Dia. Total - Spherical) 4D6 Entangle ... How do I build it??

I try not to post a question here because the problem is between the keyboard and the chair. Never the less, I have been building a Shrinking character. On different occasions 3 levels of shrinking will display a different result. It's a radically different result like .2m (which is 4 levels of shrinking. Another character with 3 levels of shrinking has .0095m. I think that's like 7 levels. Some of these are inside of an EC and some are not and I don't know what is going on. I start a new character and just build it and just notice that the levels are off. Right now it really doesn't matter and I am just using the program as a guide as the numbers don't matter (sor…

I just downloaded an attempted to create a new character. The Heroes Designer software is NOT Adjusting or providing the Correct OCV/DCV Calculations based upon the characters dexterity. My Characters Dex is 30 so his OCV/DCV should be 8; But the software keeps saying it is 3; What is going wrong? any help would be appreciated!!

I know HD only works on full operating systems. But I was not sure if Surface Go counts as a full system or not. We were looking at them and it seems they are not actually using Windows 11. Has anyone tried it and know if Java runs on one? I would hate to buy it and find out it is useless.

The system has Nerve Strike, but it's the only one. It doesn't look like I can properly build anything else, because there's no way to incorporate the "don't add STR" which is inherent in doing NND damage (per HSMA). Is there some coding in the Effect field I'm missing?
