What would the people and things of the Honor Harrington books look like in Hero terms??

To those of you open to augmentation/replacements, is there a limit to the kind of cybernetic or bioengineered "part" you'd accept? Do you mind looking markedly other than human, or do you want to look as you are now? Would you mind anything that is connected to your brain/nervous system, or are you a strictly "normal consciousness" kind of person?

I've just found this post about a Civilisation II game that has been played (on-and-of-again) over ten years. It sounds like a nice background for a post-apokalyptic world in Star Hero:

From (where else?) the latest Rocketpunk Manifesto blog entry, discussing the colonization of Venus: To my surprise there has even been some credible discussion of colonization - not of the hellish surface but the upper atmosphere, with aerostats AKA balloons. At 50 km above the surface the atmospheric pressure is equal to Earth's, and temperatures are near the human comfort zone, 0-50 C. Human breathing mix is a lifting gas on Venus (with roughly half the lifting power per cubic meter of helium on Earth), so the entire gas envelope can contain breathing air. I love this image: a magnificent floating city inside a gigantic bubble of air, drifting on poisonous w…

This was already posted in the Non-Gaming forum, but I thought it merited an additional posting here, since he was such a science-fiction legend. He died at the age of 91. Rest in peace, Mr. Bradbury.

I had a very interesting discussion about what vehicles one might prefer in a Post-apocalypse setting. Obviously the environment would dictate the general nature of the ideal vehicle (Waterworld vs. Mad Max's desert) but we tossed around ideas on which APCs from today's world would be best. Clearly the lighter, more fuel efficient ones would be best because the fight for fuel would be really tight but then the discussion took a whole new twist. Some groups would opt to go with different technology and develop really amazing off road bikes (human power). Some would rediscover the value of horses (assuming enough edible plant life) and some would devise alcohol based vehicl…

So, there's this One Page Dungeon Contest they've been doing for four years now. I entered last year with a fantasy entry, but this year I'm running Traveller Hero so I wanted to do a One Page scenario I could actually use. I had this idea last year, but of course I didn't work on it until a week before the due date. I figured I'd post it here; sorry if it feels rushed. Here's the link to my submission, the Lanisha Crisis. I've made some additional materials, which I've posted to my generic gaming blog here and here. I plan to make a Classic Traveller style deckplan as well. Comments would be welcome.

This build question is inspired by the Eclipse Phase RPG that supposes a future where you can upload consciousness into a computer and download it into a new body, and the 5th Edition version of Teleios who had backup duplicates of himself in case something fatal happened to him. Character A dies, but they have an implant in their brain that is constantly updated allowing a duplicate of every last memory to be implanted into a new body, or they have a psychic ability to jump to a prepared replacement and not just to anyone handy. Would this "body bank" replacement be built with Duplication or the resurrection form of Regeneration? I'm not sure which is the bette…

Hello, HERO forumites. I've been lurking around here for a bit, but now I'm in need of some guidance. I've only recently discovered HERO 6th Edition, and I've been transplanting a space opera GURPS campaign into it. The problem arose when I was assembling a species template for some snail-inspired aliens; they are supposed to be hermaphrodites that use a stinger of sorts to impregnate others of their kind. How would you go about statting such an attack? The stinger itself I suppose could be a low-damage HKA (just how low, exactly?), but I'm not sure about the impregnation thing. Is there an "infectious" advantage or anything similar? Do I ignore the rules altogether and j…

Hello there. I am incredibly new at this game, and been slowly doing prep for a star hero game using the hero system. Using the 6th edition rules (I think) equipment book that was released for reference I have been trying to get a method down for creating weaponry in the game so I can create a list of standard weaponry for the various races we have. I just want to make sure I am doing this right... If this is in the wrong section of the forums please let me know. So just going with the common concept of a 'lazer' rifle, this is sort of what I came up with. I have listed it below without costs to prevent information gathering from books. Power: Laz…

Just a quick update on the campaign: Tonight the PCs finally learned the secret of Talitha Borealis, the mysterious girl who stowed away on their ship eight months ago carrying a chip with news of Terra's destruction. The Jovian who created her apparently knows the location of another Earth-like world, and she's part of a long-term plot to acquire that information. The PCs aren't sure if they approve of this; humanity did not take good care of their old world... can they be expected to treat a new one any better? A large task force sent by the Consolidated Terran Armada to take control of Omicron Free Station was turned back without a shot fired by some fancy di…

I ran across this music in the Star Walk app. It's fantastic ambient music for that "space" feel. Astropilot - Solar Walk -- http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/solar-walk/id368611181 (You can listen to a sample of each track.) I believe it's also available on Rhapsody and other online music places. Was hoping this might be useful during a game to give the players that "sci-fi" feeling.
