Academy went looking for someone to oversee the various Maintenance, Repair and Landscaping Departments they found this good humored carpenter from a small town outside of Chicago. A licensed Contractor and Journeyman Plumber, Electrician, and Auto Mechanic, he was already looking for a new start after the death of his wife and the emptying of the nest by three of his four children. So he packed up his youngest son Jerry, and closed his 4 Aces Construction business and moved into a small on-site house and began taking care of all of the Buildings Facilities needs of all three campuses of the Academy. His sly wit and solid instincts about people allow him to direct his small staff in and amongst the varied and non-stop chaos. He may be uneducated about the high powered and complex world that the students here will someday move in, but his sound, caring advice and forgiving nature seems to always bring the more troubled young people to him eventually. Well, the Mentor in our story has, if anything, a pedigree more distinguished than any of the characters in our pattern story itself! The Rossum corporation had been part of this cartel for sometime now, and this was to be their first major part to play. Now a full member of an alliance of the forces who truly ran this world. Both the Mystical in the cases of those who controlled Wolfram & Hart and the Cabin project and Scientific like Weyland-Yutani, Blue Sun and his own company Rossum Inc. Only a group as powerful as this could hold Hydra in check, and Laurence Dominic had no desire to work for a losing side. Rossum had first approached him when was still with the N.S.A. about heading up security for some of their more “Special” projects, but then this...The infiltration of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s training Academy to target students and staff who might be potentially useful to the company. It was all too sweet. A little spotting of weakness here, a little psychological manipulation there, and these children would become the scientific brain-trust and shock troops the future would require. His new position as Instructor of Tactical Arts would give him the vantage point needed to build himself a nice little army. Yes, his very own army.
