Pattern Ghost
Fair point, but I still count that as countering a Hydra plot. I only count him as fighting the government in Civil War.
Bazza
Well, Pierce may have been Hydra, along with some Senators and such, but something as big as Project Insight doesn't succeed purely on the actions of some well-placed double agents. It takes a whole network of government agencies and civilian contractors, along with engineers, accountants, project managers, lawyers, etc., most of whom weren't Hydra (they were just ordinary citizens and civil servants). AFAIC, Cap wasn't just fighting Hydra, he was fighting a society and a government that was pretty okay with Project Insight and what it aimed to accomplish. Yep. Cap threw them (innocent SHIELD agents) and their careers under the bus when he decided all if SHIELD had to go.
Ranxerox
Yep. Cap threw them (innocent SHIELD agents) and their careers under the bus when he decided all if SHIELD had to go. Cap didn't decide that. That was decided by congress and the american people when their activities were made public. Lord Liaden
No, Nick Fury wanted to try to salvage something from SHIELD, but Cap told Fury the whole thing had to go. The impression I got was that Cap figured the whole apparatus had rotted to the core, and needed to be scrapped. FWIW Natasha agreed with him, and I doubt anyone has seen more rot than the Black Widow. bigdamnhero
Bazza
Nick Fury: We have to assume everyone aboard those carriers is HYDRA. We have to get past them, insert these server blades. And maybe, just maybe we can salvage what's left... Steve Rogers: We're not salvaging anything. We're not just taking down the carriers, Nick. We're taking down S.H.I.E.L.D. Nick Fury: S.H.I.E.L.D. had nothing to do with this. Steve Rogers: You gave me this mission. This is how it ends. S.H.I.E.L.D.'s been compromised. You said so yourself. HYDRA grew under right your nose and nobody noticed. Nick Fury: Why do you think we're meeting in this cave? I noticed. Steve Rogers: How many paid the price before you did? Nick Fury: Look, I didn't know about Barnes. Steve Rogers: Even if you had, would you have told me? Or would you have compartmentalized that, too? S.H.I.E.L.D., HYDRA, it all goes. Maria Hill: He's right. Sam Wilson: [Fury glances at Natasha, who gives a quiet indication of the same opinion. Fury then looks at Wilson] Don't look at me. I do what he does, just slower. Nick Fury: Well... It looks like you're giving the orders now, Captain. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1843866/quotes?item=qt2132856 Posted while waiting through the cinema ads. Lord Liaden
If you liked Guardians Vol 1, you'll love Vol 2. Not necessarily. The opinions I've been hearing from fans of Vol. 1 have been quite mixed over Vol. 2. Some loved it, some just liked it, and some felt disappointed. Bazza
I've seen it, and loved it. I thought it was an improvement on Vol 1. And watched Vol 1, again last week.
zslane
From what I understand, Vol 2 is very deliberately not a rehash of the original in terms of plot structure or tone, and while it is reportedly still a ton of fun with all the same great characters you loved from the first one, some folks just don't like change in any form. And they'll bitch about it, loudly, all over the Internet. So take the criticisms with a huge grain of salt. After all, those are probably the same folks who complained about (or would have if they were alive then) Empire Strikes Back when it originally came out. DasBroot
Yep. The Internet: "Oh my god. why does Hollywood keep doing the same thing over and over again... do they not have any original ideas anymore or the guts to change things up?" Also the Internet: "I can't believe they changed something. You can't just change things in a series - those things are why people loved it in the first place. They have no respect for their fanbase." drunkonduty, Rails, Lawnmower Boy and 6 others
bigdamnhero
True, tho it's not always the same people saying both things. (Sometimes, yes, but not usually IMO.)
Christopher R Taylor
Well, and being upset at changing original content and being annoyed with sequels aren't mutually exclusive. I can dislike sequels and not want Thor to be played by Peter Dinklage without any conflict. Original content doesn't have to come at the expense of established materials -- plenty of great books and stories that haven't been told but don't need to be changed significantly for film. zslane
Terminator 2 strikes me as a good example of a movie that was a successful mixture of old and new. It kept to the same essential plot hook as the original (Terminator comes from the future and hunts down our heroes), but it added enough new elements to make it a thrilling new experience. L. Marcus
Just got back from GotG vol. 2. Enjoyed immensely. Much laughter occurred. A strong four, bordering on a five, out of five. A much better movie than the first one. Bazza

Christopher R Taylor
The company, led by CEO Kazuo Hirai, said the overall company decline was impacted by foreign exchange rates. Uh huh, foreign exchange rates that mysteriously only affected Sony. bigdamnhero
zslane
Did they only affect Sony? You'd think Fox would take a page from Sony's playbook and either relinquish the rights to the Fantastic Four, or collaborate with Marvel to do that franchise correctly (in exchange for allowing them into the MCU).
