If the local authorities were keeping the protests peaceful and stopping them from doing things like setting fire to police buildings and firing high-end fireworks into the federal courthouse none of this would be happening. He has to have the pretext of quelling violent protests to justify his "law and order" crackdown, make him seem like a "tough guy" to his base, and lay the ground work to justify whatever other measures he may take to maintain power. But so far I've found only one report of a riot at the federal courthouse, on July 3, prior to federal security forces being dispatched there. Everything subsequently plays out like escalation after provocation. Just like groups of looters do the same thing during civil unrest. However, that doesn't mean that government agents should come in and start disappearing them either. I revised my previous post. Anyhow..."communist", "marxist", "leftist" and "anarchist" all appear to carry roughly the same weight with the Engorged Amygdala crowd. It should be noted that these sort of police maintain a distressingly low one-sided threshold as to what constitutes "violent"; good for thee, but not for me.
