Jurassic Park issues aside, this is extremely interesting in that it finally starts to answer the question as to whether lethality is related to reproduction rate in vivo and contagiousness. The good news, if you want to call it that, is that there apparently existed a variant with a 100% lethality rate and it died out in the wild--the rare case of natural selection working to our benefit. Clonus
Alberta has a new premier. They didn't elect her, she just slipped into the job via a party convention. So for at least the next seven months Albertans will have a premier who: 1. Declared that the unvaccinated were the most discriminated against minority in her lifetime. 2. Declared her intention to keep schools from mandating masks. 3. Declared her intention to keep businesses from requiring masks for entry. 4. Declared her intention to ban vaccination requirements for employment. 5. Announced that she was going to pardon all the people arrested for the protest that cut off the flow of goods across the border creating shortages and costing billions. The premier has no pardoning authority. 6. Announced that she's going to fire every competent professional in the provincial health service so they can be replaced with crackpots pushing dewormer. Lord Liaden
Sadly, Alberta appears to have become the nexus for "MAGA North." It's still not as widespread and pervasive as in the US, but the leakage across the 49th unfortunately appears to have taken root. Cancer
No; it seems a little too mercenary to sell tickets to the students who want to see their professors get shot.

Cancer
I don't see a need to indemnify my heirs in that way, unless we could get, oh, half a million or more for the rights to pull the trigger. And I don't think I've upset enough kids to be able to command that sort of money.
Pariah
I got my booster last Tuesday at my annual physical. I've been tired as the proverbial dog since then. But last week was also end of quarter (with grades appertaining thereto) and LBP's birthday party, so the booster may have been only one contributing factor. Cancer
Some ambitions, as I have learned over the years, are destined to remain unfulfilled, at least for us organisms with finite lifetimes.

unclevlad
1 hour ago, Cygnia said: Ohio Medical Board Investigating Cleveland Doctor Who Claims Covid Vaccines Make You Magnetized First: what took so long? The testimony in question was over a year ago, and this was one of *multiple* such incidents. Second, from the story: Quote Tenpenny received national attention for her claims, which had been swirling and amplified through far-right channels, despite being debunked repeatedly by epidemiologists and other doctors. This REALLY needs to be debunked by doctors? They make you MAGNETIZED??? Are there REALLY people that ignorant? In many ways, this is the aspect that disturbs and alarms me, that a claim of such total absurdity can be echoed and not rejected...that it does not cause those who parrot such a claim to be utterly rejected as complete fools. We've really rejected rationality THAT far? Santayana: Those who can make you believe absurdities, can make you commit atrocities. The violence is going to get worse; the atrocities haven't even scratched the surface relative to the magnitude of this absurdity.
