  1. Re: VPPs in 6th The issue isn't the size of the Pool - it's the Control Cost. If you want Powers in the Pool restricted to 60 AP, then you restrict the Control Cost to 60 (30 points). (Somewhat confusingly, the cost of Control Cost is 1 character point for 2 points of CC.)
  2. Re: CON Only to Resist Stunning I've considered using CON (or other characteristic) as a Defense against an AVAD. (Steve filed it under, "GM Permission" and wanted to think more about it.)
  3. Re: Cool Guns for your Games Where's the grenade launcher supposed to go on that thing?
  4. Re: FANTASY HERO -- What Do *You* Want To See? I'd like to see a detailed example of creating a magic system, similar to what was done with the, "Mongoose Style" in HSMA. I'd also like to see more advice on adapting material from other fantasy games (seeing as it is a popular genre).
  5. Re: Now taking suggestions - HERO System Combat in Two Pages Mental Effect: Total dice pips, compare to target's EGO.
  6. Re: Varying speeds of flight with and without Turn Mode. I'd do it this way. This would reduce the Turn Mode when operating at higher speeds, which seems to fit the SFX of the power.
  7. Re: Beginner Character Creation If you are running a superhero campaign, the archetypes in the back of the Champions sourcebook are an excellent place to start.
  8. Re: Champions: Powers -- Great Book Yes, but I don't know what the timeframe is.
  9. Re: Big Honking Sword Making the assumption that a blade requires lifting capacity equal to 100x it's mass*, a character would need to be able to lift 5000kg to wield a 50kg sword. That works out to a STR Min of 38 or 39. A 100kg blade would have a STR Min 5 higher. *About right for a katana, and probably close enough for many other blades.
  10. Re: Really, Hero Games? Two Rulebooks? Point of order - I picked up a slipcased set of the original 3 books for ~$70. This is true - if you buy the full version of the rules, you never need to spend another dollar on HERO. (Of course, I encourage all of us to buy as much as we can.)
  11. Re: plot generator... lol She sings?
  12. Re: Big Honking Sword As a point of reference, the highest-damage blade in HSMA is the tetsu-to, and it's a 2.5d6 HKA. You could make your BHS a 4d6 HKA with a STR Min of 20.
  13. Re: International Everything is a Spaceship Day I thought you were talking about stuff like this. (The text is German, but the pictures are self-explanatory.)
  14. Re: Stats for a Forklift You might even give it SPD 1. They're not designed to handle. 16 PD is bank-vault level. 7-9 sounds more reasonable. That depends on the model. I'm pretty sure the lift truck at work can extend to 6m or so. Yeah, definitely a 1-point TF. Not every lift truck has a fork. At work there is a truck with a clamp that we use for moving rolls of paper around.
  15. Re: Rules intention question I recall one instance in a game I was running where a relatively weak RKA one-shotted a PC. That's a bad thing.
  16. Re: Stats for a Forklift Limited Coverage (only from Above) would be a -1.
  17. Re: Stats for a Forklift I disagree with the part about the PD not protecting the operator. Most lift trucks these days have a roof over the operator's head in case something falls off what's being lifted.
  18. Re: Martial Arts iiinnn ssspppaaaccceee!!! Which style is flexible enough?
  19. Re: Quote of the Week From My Life. Wife: *reading Powerball numbers* "01-12-53-56-57 5... what kind of numbers are these?" Me: "Random."
  20. Re: Foods for those that just don't care anymore Apparently I'm the only person here who's ever been to Shady Glen in Manchester, CT. Order a chocolate malt and the Bernice Special (cheeseburger with crispy cheese).
  21. Re: Please tell me why this is wrong! The temperature of the ice may continue to drop after the that point - it remains as ice regardless of how low the temperature goes. It could be -100 farenheit and it would still be ice. Much more difficult to heat up though... Maybe not much more... ice takes about half as much energy to heat or cool (by 1°) as water does.
  22. Re: Please tell me why this is wrong! Just say no. Making it foggy is one thing, but converting an entire lake to water vapor is quite another. There's the latent heat issue again, at the very least. Also, air can only contain a certain amount of water vapor before the rest starts condensing out.
