Hi, Just started running this adventure to re-kick start my pulp hero campaign last night. So far I have been doing pretty good with it. So I was just wondering if anyone else on these boards have played this adventure as well and how it went? So far I find myself liking it mainly because as an adventure it is more open-ended than linear. It gives you some encounters to present to the players but pretty much leaves it in the hands of the GM as to how he wants to present things.

I posted these in the Fantasy Hero forum in response to a thread over there (http://www.herogames.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1815690&postcount=30), but I thought the Pulp Hero foum might enjoy seeing this. Enjoy: These were some ideas I had for a Shadowrun game set in 1920s or 1930s. While there was no cyberware, I envioned the power level as being similar to Swords and Sorcery with mages generally having poorer attributes and combat abilities than their two fisted "warrior" companions. 1901- The Year of Chaos; magic returns to the world in full force; the first sign is the Great Dragon Ryumo, rising out of Mount Fuji Goblinization epidemic: millions …

"We've got a stake in this advance too!" I've been thinking about this campaign for my FTF group, partly as filler for when we're short 1-3 folks. Take Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Mummy (modern version),the opening sequences of Hellboy and Bulletproof Monk, mix with the WWII movies like Where Eagles Dare, Dirty Dozen, and Guns of Navarone. World War II monster hunters! Working for a special subsection of British Intelligence (with later assistance from the OSS), the agents of MI-13 deal with the more unusual of the threats from the Axis. The idea is to progress through the war in jumps, doing largely episodic adventures. Don't need everyone for every advent…

I got done watching Australia. I know, it's been out a long time. Anyway, I was struck by how very Pulp it was. It wasn't advertized as being a big pulp movie (I could be wrong here), but it very much was. The main flaw was the amount of movie spent on how pretty Hugh Jackman is. If you're enjoy letting your eyes get lost in Aussie chest hair, this isn't a problem.

One of the great things about this job o' mine is the cool people you get to meet. I'm standing in the booth at DunDraCon. I'm the only one there -- Darren's doing a seminar, Jason and Tina are out at lunch, and it's during a game session period so there's no customer traffic. This guy walks by. He walks past, then stops and comes back. "Hey, aren't you Steve Long?" he asks. "Yes," I say warily, afraid of being served with a summons or hit with a "you'll never guess how cool my half-drow vampire warlock character is" story. "Hi, I'm Jess Nevins." For those of you who are unfortunate enough never to have heard of Jess Nevins, he's the author of The Ency…

The Scott Polar Research Institute has set up a wonderful site called Freeze Frame, putting many superb images from the history of polar exploration on-line for the first time. Excellent for period details and a *ahem* chilling sense of scale and desolation for your own games around the poles. No sign of the entrance to the hollow Earth but I'm assuming those will be posted later. The frostbite pics are a bit grim, mind you.

I own a copy and it looks like a great source of ideas for any Pulp GM. While a lot of it has as sort of steampunk or Victorian SF feel, the book has enough crazy gadgets to inspire many a mad scientist or Nazi villain! Better yet, it's in full color, with quirky, tongue-in-cheek descriptions. A steal at only $12.95! http://www.amazon.com/Doctor-Grordborts-Contrapulatronic-Directory-Catalogue/dp/1593078765 http://www.wetanz.com/holics/raygun-directory.php

I found this and used it in my Champions game but it probably fits best in a Pulp game. It's a very old city founded by the Etruscians on a volcanic plateau. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Civita_di_Bagnoregio

Before diving into Born To Be Wild, I decided I'd try to polish off one or two HPAs that I've been plinking away at for some time now. Having unfinished stuff sitting on my hard drive ain't right! So, I've just now finished one: Into The Unknown. It's not an adventure but a set of rules for creating and running expeditions. It discusses who you need to have on your expeditions, what sort of supplies you need (and how to obtain them), native bearers and other hirelings, and events that might happen along the way as the PCs proceed toward their goal in the blank parts of the map. Lotsa good stuff. It'll be awhile before I get around to laying this out, esp. sin…

Map of Halaal, Re-setting the start time.

I have the first box set for Pacesetters Sandman: Map of Halaal and out it's four sections two of them are in the Pulp era (the 30s and the 40s). The 40s section involving the French resistance, two dead SS officers, the Gestapo, and a Nazi sympathizer in French Morroco. My question is I want to bring it more in line to 1930 or so. So who be good replacements? The Prussian secret police? The NKVD? The French resistance being replaced with French turmoil in Algeria? I want to keep the B&W morality that having the Nazi's in a scenario typically bring along with them. Here's the link for some basic product info. http://www.pen-paper.net/rpgdb.php?o…

There is a site called http://www.madametalbot.com/ which contains posters, dolls, curios, books etc. with a Victorian/Gothic theme. Whilst this is a commercial site, and the items are actually produced by a modern artist, they may be of use.

I've been thinking: how would you build Flash Gordon and/or Buck Rogers? Obviously it would be preferable to use existing packages as a starting point. So, from Wikipedia: Flash Gordon was "a handsome polo player and Yale graduate". Let's see: the Athlete package would be a good start. Buck Rogers was "a former United States Army Air Corps officer". A combination of the Aviator and Soldier packages would work well. Actually, it's too easy, isn't it? Adding any funky technology might be a bit more difficult. Star Hero is useful, but getting things "right" takes a bit of work. Mixing the result with Champions is even more drama!
