I can't recall if I posted this, but my Hero Character sheets for The World of Kong book have been updated. You can find The World of Kong here: http://surbrook.devermore.net/adaptationscreatures/movies/kong/wokong.html. Everything has been run through Hero Designer, which means you get an HDC file for most every character sheet! I also added a few new pieces of art.

This news story from the Beeb sparked all sorts of pulpy adventure possibilities for me. I'd not previously heard of the pistols in question, but it's a fascinating story. And don't worry that the report casts doubt on an extraterrestrial origin... clearly misinformation

Sometimes the BBC website just oozes stories with pulp potential. Here's another, concerning Charles Lindbergh's work towards immortality. Who else might have been interested in that sort of technology, had it appeared? An elite of immortals, just requiring replacement parts now and then...

http://www.evilhat.com/home/?page_id=103 I haven't bought it. yet. But the cover has a masked man of mystery fighting a gorilla, who is flying a biplane. A zepplin is in the background and a scrappy dame is dangling from the biplane. How much more awesome can a cover get? I haven't played it but I'd be interested to hear if this is any good. The site says it uses the "Fate System". Anybody familiar with it?

Currently all pulp related pdfs are 20 percent off. They only sale ebooks but it's a pretty good deal if you're interested. I picked up Spirit of the Century. I think it lasts until Monday.

I'm looking to bring Champions characters into a Pulp setting. But what do I do about their powers? Here's what I'm looking at: 1. A character with ice-based projectiles. 2. A character with pretty standard "high fantasy" magic 3. A character with different powers every sixty minutes 4. Batman, sort of. I have no problem moving Batman into Pulp, and I don't really have a problem moving the magic-user into setting, I can just scale back the specifics of magic. But the other two....how can I balance the presence or lack of powers? In a Champions setting, powers became the source of character identity, and practically a character unto themselv…

I'm currently playing a character in a Pulp crime fighting game that has desolid. The Wraith has been returned from the dead to exact vengeance for innocents that have died by violence. When taking the power the GM and I agreed that she would be affected by ego powers (as the rules require) and magic when desolid. Well, we've been playing for several months and now the GM has decided that I have to come up with something else that she is affected by since magic isn't common enough and I'm coming up blank. I can't think of anything that fits within her "Spirit of Vengeance" concept. He made suggestions like fire, water or wind and one of the other players suggested c…

I have been searching for this Aaron Allston book for a while now. I was wondering if anyone had a copy that they might want to part with. I would be willing to pay a reasonable price for it; or I have a VF copy of Aaron Allston’s Strike Force that I’ll trade for it. Send me a PM if you’re interested in making a deal.

Jim Corbett, Hunter of Man Eating big cats, ww2 jungle survival trainer, photographer, conservationist http://www.damninteresting.com/?p=954#more-954 After having killed the Chowgrath Tigress with a one-handed shot, Corbett found that she was afflicted by a collection of porcupine quills in her right foreleg. Unlike most punctures, a porcupine's quill will not dissolve, and after years of having the quills embedded the wound was so deteriorated that the tiger's muscle was rotted, and the bones cratered with signs of infection. Most of the big cats taken by Corbett were also assigned a reason for having become man-eaters. Between 1907 and 1938, Corbett killed a d…

My group just started a Crimson Skies game, but I never liked the official timeline. It seems the US broke up too quickly. This is the timeline that I've proposed using. It goes back a little further than 1920. We are using Pulp HERO rules for it (it's more about role playing and less about tactical air battles). It borrows heavily from the Harry Turtledove's "191" timeline as well as the Crimson Skies material. >> 1863 Confederate States win American Civil War. UK & France recognise Confederation of Dixie- force mediation. Slavery not banned in South since Emancipation proclmation is never issued. 1864 Lincoln and the Repub…

I want to pick up some pulp style miniatures (metal figures, not paper ones), but the places i've seen that sell them are in far off exotic lands like England and Canada. Are there any manufacturers here in the US that have a healthy selection of Pulp figures? Thanks for the assist, Jeff

PANZERKAMPFWAGEN VIII MAUS (Sonderkraftfahrzeug 205) History: The Maus (“mouse”) super-heavy tank was created as part of a program to develop a series of 100 ton tanks capable of fighting (and destroying) the largest and heaviest Soviet tanks. In June of 1942, Adolph Hitler asked Professor Ferdinand Porsche to develop a super-heavy tank, which was deliberately given the designation of “Maus.” Two prototypes were delivered two years later, in 1944, and sent to the Kummersdorf armored vehicle proving grounds. While there Maus proved to be a temperamental beast, with engine failures common and parts in short supply due to Allied bombing raids. Finally, in April…

I'm just asking myself if I am the only one who really LOVES Howard's Boxing stories - reading especially the adventures of Steve Costigan, Able-Bodied Seaman, an his rowdy crew of feeble-minded fellow-sailors always give smy a blast. And best of it: Howard, being an amateur boxer of quite knowledge, is really able to make you FEEL the punches, smell the sweat and hear the jeering of the crowd. It is really like watching a goo boxing match on TV! For everybody who is interested in those stories, look for "Waterfront Fists And Other Stories", an anthology of Howard's boxing short stories. They are REALLY worth it (maybe hard to get now).

I was poking around wiki-source friday morning and noticed that the Edgar Rice Burrough's page has been significantly updated. The last time I checked there was very little material there, but now they have all of the Tarzan novels Burrough's wrote up, and about half of the John Carter of Mars novels. They also have several of his other novels up (such as The Land That Time Forgot). Its great when things come into the public domain. http://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Author:Edgar_Rice_Burroughs

Thought to pass this along. http://www.rocketshipempires.com/ It's a systemless campaign setting mixing pulp WWII, space opera, and Lovecraftian horror. Very interesting read, with lots of stuff worth stealing if you don't want to use the setting by itself. The forums actually mention using Hero as one of the systems to run it with.

Greetings all, I am looking for a hardcover copy of Pulp Hero as was sold at GenCon a few years ago. If anyone could help me, that would be wonderful. I realize that this might be a pretty penny, but I think it worth it. Hear that Steve? Thanks, Bob
