All right folx! It's taken months of talking back and forth, leaping logistical hurdles, and communications delays, but we've finally gotten everything set up for: The Andy Mathews Memorial Fund As some of you know, when Andy passed away last December, he had two young sons: Tim (age 6) and Mack (age 2). To honor Andy's memory, we've set up a Memorial Fund to pay for their education and health needs. Here's how it's going to work. We've put two items in the Online Store -- a $10 donation and a $20 donation. If you want to donate, just purchase one of them (or more than one, if you want to donate a larger amount). You can even add them to any other purchase…

The Good, The Bad, and The Weird (Joheunnom nabbeunnom isanghannom) -- Described by the director as a "kimchee" Western, this pure action film takes place in 1930s Manchuria. Woo-sung Jung (Yeo-sol the spearman in Musa) is Park Do-won, a bounty hunter (the "Good"), Byung-hun Lee (Storm Shadow in the recent GI Joe movie) is Park Chang-yi, a vicious killer (the "Bad"), and Kang-ho Song (Park Hang-Du the befuddled father in The Host) is Yoon Tae-goo, a small-time bandit (the "Weird"). The plot, such as it, concerns a treasure map, and the desire for several of the characters (and other factions) to be the first to get to it. Aside from our three main characters, we also…

The standard BAR M1918A2 from Pulp Hero page 305, is a bulky focus. Clyde Barrow (of Bonnie & Clyde fame) used a BAR on which he had cut down the barrel and cut down the butt to enable the weapon to be lighter and more quickly brought into action. Of course I imagine that such a modification ought to impart a -1 Range Modifier and perhaps increase the STR minimum of the weapon since there is less weight to counter recoil. The thing had to be hip fired since the butt was now too short. In your opinion would this allow the weapon to do away with the "bulky" limitation? The PER Modifier of a standard BAR is +7 how much less do you think the PER Modifier would b…

O.k. let's try the kind of thread that everyone either loves or hates. We'll all make a charecter. After I start, each succesive post fills in the next piece. As I've started the thread I get to do the first three. The charecter is a male named Dex Kiran. He is a two fisted hero type based on 75 base points and 75 disads. Obviously we next move on to stats. So the next post assings str, the post after dex. You can assign whatever you like, but be sure to post point costs. Espically when we get to skills and perks. Cause we have to switch to disads at 150.

TaleSpin, of course, being the Disney TV cartoon that recast some of the Jungle Book characters for a late 1930s aviation show. I'm basically going to gloss over the "funny animals" aspect, because I think it will fit better into humans only campaigns that way. Note that I'll be using speculation and fanon as well as the show's canon. First, the island itself: Cape Suzette Cape Suzette is a small but prosperous island conveniently located at the crossing of several trade routes in the South Seas. Millions of years ago, it was an enormous volcano that thrust up from under the sea and built itself up through multiple eruptions. The last of these eruptions b…

I recently acquired "The Day After Ragnarok" and was considering how to integrate Hudson City into it. I'd likely have to relocate it westward somewhere. Does anyone have any suggestions for how Hudson City might fit into this world setting, or how it might be affected by the Serpentfall?

I am making a character who is a photographer and reporter. I intend for his skills to include telegraph and wireless operation. This is easily handled with the Systems Operation skill. What about Morse Code? Should this be counted as part of Sys Op skill, or should I buy a Language: Morse Code, or perhaps a KS: Morse Code would be more appropriate. Any one care to offer their opinion?

I've playing this a lot recently as a way of passing the time. I've also decided these two weapons would make great "mad science" devices for PCs to have to deal with. These write-ups use 6E HERO. I know that until the 1934 National Firearms Act ownership of fully automatic weapons (like the Tommy gun) was legal for anyone with the cash to buy one. What, if any, firearms regulations were in effect in the 1920s and 30s? Could anyone carry a firearm concealed or openly? What I am wondering is whether or not a character should be required to any sort of Perk to be allowed to carry guns of any sort. Obviously being too overt or too heavily armed is going to draw unwanted attention (in itself a disadvantage) but should I even be concerned about character's needing a perk to carry a gun. What about abroad? The characters will likely travel the world. I imagine …

I found this today while surfing the net. The author says he wrote this book for his son, to introduce the pulps to a new generation. This comes out May 16th. Here's the link: http://www.docwilde.com/ He's also writing a sequel titled Doc Wilde and the Daughter of Darkness.

Re: Five Innovative But Impractical Handguns Wasn't there another movie that showed that? I think a Clint Eastwood "spaghetti western," though I'm not sure.

For a Sci-Fi low end Pulp Game (50+50) I was inspired by the very first sci-fi movie serial to create a unique pulp character: A Singing Cowboy. He can shoot & ride like any western cowboy, but he can also sing. Gene Autry and Roy Rogers are the prototypical versions of this. My character will be a singer who has become famous through radio and is now starting an acting career. (this is exactly what Gene Autry was in The Phantom Empire). Right now its over budget (119 points), and I need more equipment and disads. Everyman skills are not included. James Carver Player: Val Char Cost 15 STR 5 18 DEX 24 10 CON 0 10 BODY 0 13 INT 3 10 EGO 0 18 PRE 8 1…

I love me a good lost world/lost continent story. I was seriously bummed out when I heard that if all those African lost worlds in Tarzan were real, Africa would be bigger to the tune of an Australian sized mass of land. It wouldn't all fit. So when I came to run my (only) Pulp Hero campaign to date, I had a lost continent on the Kerguelen subsea plateau. Still awfully small for vast mountain ranges and the like, but it looked out of the way enough on a big National Geographic map in my grandfather's basement. Unfortunately, it turns out that it is pretty hard to scrunch the territory out of the middle of the Perth-Capetown shipping lanes. Not very likely to be "lo…

Ground-penetrating radar and infra-red imaging might be out of reach for your Pulp Heroes, but the idea of a lost city never goes out of style - especially if it's someplace they wouldn't expect one. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/8177529.stm
