Has anybody done any work on converting the old TSR "Gangbusters!" materials, particularly the game modules, into Hero System? I have the five original modules but not the Gangbusters! rulebook so it is kind of hard to figure out what all of the stat abbreviations mean.

Hi Folks, I'm currently running a JI/Pulp Hero campaign here and I had wanted some input into a itustion that the PCs have gotten themselves into. I've been running the Radio Marauders scenario and at our last cliffhanger the PCs have crashed their Oldsmobile sedan into a garden shed where several Marauders are guarding the secret access to Dr. Hengelhoffer's underground lair. The problem is, that a couple of PCshave taken some Body from a previous run in with our Tommy Gun toting baddies and given the DCV of a Olds sedan the car was welcomed with a robust hail of gunfire, totalling 15 hits. That's the cliffhanger. What to do now? Fudge the…

Having now read the PDF of Lucha Libre HERO (twice), I am already contemplating how to introduce some material from it to the poor souls in my Pulp HERO game. Tossing aside the real-world temporal issues as unimportant (this is the pulps, after all), in favor of getting the good stuff into the game, I've arrived at the following rough outline for adding things in: Lucha heroes as a general 'type' have dated back to ancient Meso-American days, and some of the pictographic tales attributed to ancient gods were actually tales of these ancient wrestling heroes uplifted to mythic status. Both males and females may (and do) 'don the mask' and take up the battle a…

So you got dragons breathing balefire in fantasy games. In the supers corner are people that can punch through tank armor. So what do you, as a player in pulp, find that holds your intrest. Is it character development, 2 fisted action, or something else that keeps you coming back?

Escaped Python Loose in Everglades!

http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2009-07-01-python-strangles-child_N.htm Of course the header, a 2 year old girl being killed by an illegally kept Burmese python, is terrible news and nothing I would exploit, if go to the bottom of the article it mentions how escaped snakes such these have begun breeding in the Everglades. The timeline is too modern for Pulp but the information, the fact that they can escape and breed, the upper end on size and weight, all are useful in crafting a Pulp scenario. This could also be used whole cloth as the backdrop for Dark Champions adventure too. Upon further Googling I found this, this, this, and this which all have f…

Hey all. I was on bent of nostalgia for Dream Pod 9 and came across a real sweet set of PDFs for Gear Krieg at their website. They're cut-out paper models for each of the Walkers in 15mm scale. Each PDF is supposed to have enough parts for four walkers. Perfect for the evil mastermind or the heroic gadgeteer. Gear Krieg Papercraft Enjoy!

I have seen the animated movie UP, it was great. I liked the story and main characters were interesting (annoying but in a very charming kind of way). I will not put in any spoilers, but it has some pulpy elements in it, it is not pulp but captures the explorer element which some pulp stories have, and has some very pulp like items/scenes/locations in it. I recommend the movie as light, fun, entertainment, and of course kid friendly.

Thought y'all might enjoy a sneak peak at Sam Kennedy's beautiful cover for the upcoming Thrilling Hero Adventures book: Pretty incredible, eh? Here's a blurb from the back of the book: The world of Pulp Hero is full of amazing adventures — tombs to explore, lost civilizations hidden deep in the jungle, mad scientists launching schemes of conquest, evil cults trying to fulfill their dark destiny, and much more. Thrilling Hero Adventures presents fifteen Pulp scenarios suitable for any Pulp Hero campaign: The Curse of the Vulture-God The Dordogne Zodiac The Fangs of the Scarlet Serpent The Golden Idol of Sikrál Inner-Earth The Locomot…

Hey there I haven't been around for a while but my social life isn't why you're here I'm making a western Campaign setting. It's set with a Cinimatic flair and thus the reason that I see it falling into the Pulp setting if any. Anyway I'm looking for any tips, advice or just plain simple builds for some things Most in particularly those of Weapons and Firearms. I realize the Dark champion and Pulp hero books both provide write ups for weapons but none for the weapons of the western era

Just saw the movie "The Spirit" today. 1) I will not spill any of the plot. 2) I have NOT read any of the comic book series. 3) Loved the movie. 4) It is more "noir" in feel. But "pulpy" in backgrounds, automobiles, fashions. 5) Great graphics and visuals. 6) IMHO a good version of a masked crime fighters. 7) Suggest Pulp GM's or pulp players see the movie for ideas.

I was reading the 'What makes you like Pulp' thread. I got to thinking about how Pulp, because it lets you do anything, is a lot like a flavour to add to a thing, rather than a thing itself. So my post read: "I love pulp because in pulp, you can do anything, or at least a low level equivalent. Literally every character is Batman, or rather, the Shadow. If magic exists, then the pulp version of Dr. Strange only had to study for one year. Admittedly, his magic spells and rituals are weaker but he faces weaker foes, so it evens out. Tony Stark is the same as he normally is, except that he wears a rocket pack, scanner helmet, blaster gloves and a forcefield belt instead …

Trying to flesh out an idea for a campaign world, and could use some help. Basically, among all the other things to throw in, is air pirates. The air part is easy - zeppelins and what not for that. Piracy is a bit harder, since it can't just happen anywhere. Okay, a pulp story only requires that it be cool and exciting, but my standards are somewhat higher. So my adequate explanation is to run it in a world without a unified Germany in the 1920s. As a historical divergence point, I'll take no Otto von Bismarck. This easily leads to all the kingdoms of Germany staying separate. It does make an awful lot of ripples, though. Any thoughts or suggestions o…
