Re: Need another name for Juggernaut...

Giant / GiGant (from gigantic)

Giant Ant (ca. lift x times his weight - and he is heavy)

Titan

Or just plunder the Giant-based-mythology for names.

Also interesting:

Olympic class ocean liner (the 2 of 3 ships sank, gues wich one was the first^^)

After remembering the Olympic class, one comes up too:

Iceberg / Eisberg (German).

Re: Need another name for Juggernaut...

How about "Storm" for a name? As in "to storm a place"? Or "Jaggannath", an idol of Krishna which was wheeled on a cart, under which devotees threw themselves to be crushed? And of course, which inspired the word juggernaut.

Or "Onslaught"?

I have used Jagnatha a derivative or alternate translation of Jaggannath.

Re: Need another name for Juggernaut...

One online thesaurus gave me "Steamroller".

The word actually comes from the hindi Jagannath, which is an aspect of Vishnu. So about about "Vishnu"?

An online translater said "Moloch" is German for Juggernaut. Italian is "Colosso."

1. Hinduism is a major world religion. A billion or so people regard Vishnu as an actual deity.

2. Vishnu isn't particularly associated with destruction. In the Trimurti concept, Shiva is the destroyer, but I wouldn't use Shiva either.

On a more useful note:

Titan (already suggested, so consider this seconding the motion.)

Mammoth

Rhino

Stampede

Behemoth (once again, a seconding.)

Actually, yes, I'd go with Behemoth.

EDIT: Extra stuff from Mathew

An online translater said "Moloch" is German for Juggernaut.

Interesting. Different terms with somewhat similar, although not identical implications. No wonder translating from one language to another is such a tricky thing.

I wouldn't use Moloch in this situation, though.

Roller might work, from the steamroller comment.

Tectonic, from plate tectonics. Hey, you try stopping a continent from going where it wants.

There's the old joke about 'where does an 800 pound gorilla sit? Anywhere he wants to". 800, Gorilla or Anywhere might be references to that.

Relentless

There's The Limper, from the Black Company books. He was in many ways similar to Juggernaut, although he was also Full of Fail.

Cain Marko! Duh! The guy has a public ID and everything... :sneaky:

Of course, the Juggernaut was an irresistible force.

Science tells us there is no such thing, but reality shows us that there is.

It's called Gossip, and once it starts moving nothing can stop it... :P
