Is she really risking the lives of people “for science”? Probably. All of the interviews that I've seen with her make her sound drunk, which was more of a trademark of her husband, former Las Vegas mayor Oscar Goodman*. He was a spokesman for Bombay Sapphire Gin, and frequently had a drink in hand when playing the mayor at public appearances. I haven't lived in the bounds of the city of Las Vegas** for over a quarter of a century, so I thankfully didn't vote for either of them. *He, of course, rose to fame as a lawyer for Tony Spilotro, before that mobster became fertilizer in a corn field. **I technically live in Paradise, NV, an unincorporated township, which also contains most of the Strip. Yes.. a 'control group' where tourists from other states will charge in, maybe catch the Virus, then carry them back to home states helping undo some of the precautions they may or may not have in place... Definitely not staying in Vegas. Pariah

Is she really risking the lives of people “for science”? More to see if getting rid of stay-at-home makes enough money for the casino owners to justify the likely increase in spread of the disease. Not science, or even economics, but "business studies". Las Vegas has always been about squeezing every possible penny from people all over the country. And it won't just be casino-goers and casino workers (who will lose their unemployment if casinos reopen with skeleton crews) who have to face the consequences. How do they expect people to get to those casinos and hotels? How will people from other cities get to Vegas?

Doesa this mean that if the casinos reopen, you will have to go back to working at the office or in the field if you want to keep your job? That's harsh. Is she really risking the lives of people “for science”? Looks that way. And as has been pointed out, it's got to be one of the worst cities and businesses to try this. Huh. It's her 3rd term. It wasn't a contest..."landslide" doesn't come close. Normally I'd say...she might be looking at a recall, the way this is coming across. But she swept the board...83% of the vote...in Apirl 2019. That said, I doubt that's gonna be repeated in 2023. IF she doesn't get recalled and tossed out. Huh...that could be tricky. Nevada's recall laws, according to Ballotopedia, require signatures (hard right now) from 25% of those who *voted* in the election in question. EDIT: a Forbes article pointed out that she has zero authority here. The casinos are controlled by the Nevada Gaming Commission, and they've said "not gonna happen." Michael Hopcroft
Are the snake oil salesmen out in full force yet? I'd been watching a series of ongoing YouTube reports about the various stimulus and funding packages in the works, but the series lost a lot of credibility when it became clear the guy was pushing real estate investments. I don't know if he's an outright fraud like many who offer real estate investments and investment courses, but it does push my suspicion buttons. My check gets mailed tomorrow for the $1200 payment. If what happened to my tax refund check is any indication I should get it next week.

AARP's sent out a few warnings about scams related to the funding packages but I haven't really read them. I did get a somewhat related email. Blathered about "if we have a million sick people, who'll they call out? The National Guard." And then going on about an NG whistleblower, offering up links. Yeah, right. Phishing expedition. Forwarded to GMail's fraud people then deleted. Didn't bother checking the links. But it's the same thing. When I compare the mortality rate of New York to Collin County, TX (plano, frisco, etc.) there is a stark difference (roughly 10% vs. 2.5%). Is that due to the level of stress on the medical system or some other factor, because being 4x more likely to die would incline me to live somewhere else. The few areas I've dove down into the numbers tell me there are probably radically different approaches to collecting the numbers and the volumes of people being tested. The illness being 4x more deadly in NY compared to TX which is 10x more lethal than Singapore... Something doesn't add up here. Also, I miss going to the movies and working full time. Modern medicine is definitely a factor, as are people voluntarily keeping apart and washing hands. But like the Spanish Flu, those numbers are going to surge upwards again as soon as this is too difficult to maintain and supplies run out. But hopefully not as catastrophically. I am said you can't work full time. That's been the hardest part of this for a lot of people. Many are furloughed and many small businesses are disappearing. That's the sort of thing I thought the fed should be stimulating, but...

Not so much ventilators, the latest info I've seen is that 88% of COVID-19 patients put on them are dying. By the time they get to measures that extreme it's mostly a question of whether you (or your family) want to delay the inevitable so more people can make it to your deathbed.
