Are there any plans to publish a campaign book ala the old Strike Force book? That book is still one of my favorite books. It has a great breadth and depth of material ranging from a cool group of characters (with solo hero suggestions and villain version suggestions) to a detailed campaign back story. It also introduced several concepts that have become a part of Hero Systems (the coolness and versatility of the martial arts system, point shaving, player typing, etc.) I'd like to see a book like this. It could either be a purely homegrown campaign (like Strike Force was for the most part) or it could even be set in the CU as part of the canon (if it wa…

Has anyone ever mapped out GATEWAY? Or found any maps of space stations or moon bases online? I'm running a scenario this weekend which involves such environs, but I am coming up with nothing. Does anyone else wish that the various bases written up in sourcebooks included plans or maps? Heck, if I had my preference, the maps and plans coupled with the descriptions would suffice; I could come up with the stats. What I loved most about Champions Battlegrounds were the maps of the various locales. Here is a suggestion or two. My preference would be to include the maps in the sourcebook obviously. But a compromising suggestion would be to include maps in Digital…

Fairy Godmothers are among the nicest beings in existence, and spend their days seeking out deserving young people who need love, support... and a little bit of magic in their life. They are hampered, however, by the rules of their station - they must be asked to be a godmother by the true mother before they can help anyone, and they must only help on one day of the child's life - which must be before they turn eighteen... and only if the child surrenders to utter despair. These rules lead to much anguish, as all too many mothers do not ask, even when the godmothers appear, and even then... they must watch the child all their life to make sure the wish is when it wil…

I royally screwed up my back today. Got too enthusiastic while doing some heavy lifting, and tried to Conan a box that was about fifty pounds too heavy for Conaning, and pulled my trapezius (for the eighteenth million time). Now I'm stuck doing nothing exciting, and I'm bored. The massive dose of painkillers is doing a great job of taking the hurt away, but prescription drugs lack the entertainment value of recreational ones, and I don't want to mix the two. So I've decided to let y'all give me something to do, while I relax and take it easy. Something easy and relazing of course, no heavy lifting. I will make you a character. Any character, any power level…

Would anyone be interested in taking over this character? Her player had to quit the game, but she's pretty interesting and actually part of another character's disadvantage so I'd hate to write her out. Caress AKA: Alexis Klum Lifestyles of the Young, the Rich, and the Powerful You all know the story by now, little rich girl gone bad, makes all the bad tabloids and occasionally PEOPLE or MAXIM driving her parents to distraction being photographed stumbling, half naked and stoned out of her mind, from some Beverly Hills or Manhattan Club. Alexis Klum is all that and more. Alexis is beautiful, already she has appeared on 12 major magazine covers. Sh…

Doing a standard Internet search, I found the Avengers' Charter and it got me to thinking, does your PC group use or have a charter for their team? Ever write one up? Or is it just assumed that it's 'there'?

I was recently reading Essential Spider-Man Vol. 6. This includes the death of Gwen Stacy, which some consider the start of the Bronze Age. I started noticing a bit of a trend. These are all issues of The Amazing Spider-Man, take a look at the death toll: 118 The Disrupter (Richard Raleigh) - A political schemer is killed by The Smasher, a brutish villain he helped create. 120 Jean Pierre Rimbaud - A lawyer who is trying to inform Aunt May about an inheritance, killed by a goon hired by Doctor Octopus. 121 Gwen Stacy - Killed by the Green Goblin. 122 The Green Goblin - Accidentally kills himself while trying to kill Spider-Man. 126 The Kangaroo - Ki…

The First (Hopefully) Semi-Annual Great Champions Challenge Modding Contest! Hello Herophiles!! After looking at the talent in the various threads here, one thing seems obvious. People are makin' Champions Mods! Over on HC Realms I help run a contest to celebrate the fine and noble art of modding figures, so I figured why should clixers have all the fun? I asked Steve Long if this was okay, and he said it sounded like a hoot. I'm attaching the standard disclaimer that this is not sponsored or affiliated with Hero Games in any way, and is in fact, my own little piece of insanity. This contest is meant to be a competition between mods, more so than a compet…

Okay, I admit I'm a little weird. I like superheroes. I like supers movies and cartoons. I just don't like comics all that much. It's really not even that I don't like comics, I just don't like having a single story spread over months or even years. I've recently discovered the wonderful world of graphic novels and trade paperback collections. So, what would you recommend I should pick up? I'm especially looking for stuff that's particularly representative of certain characters (e.g. If you only read one Captain America story, get this...) or stuff that's "groundbreaking" (which I'm led to believe The Watchmen is). I've already been sold on Batman: Dark …

There are large number of Champions villains out there with susceptibilities and vulnerabilities to Holy Weapons, Sacred Ground, and similar effects. So, here are some questions for GMs and players: 1) Do you allow vulnerabilities and susceptibilities to Divine / Sacred / Holy effects? 2) If so, would you allow any PC or NPC to define their powers as Divine or Holy? 3) Would you allow characters with the Variable SFX advantage to fire a blast of Holy Water, or to use Change Environment to create Sanctified Ground? 4) If you don’t allow Divine or Holy special effects in your campaigns, and do allow the disadvantages of characters like Black Paladin or…

I thought I would start a thread and post a few of my characters, villains, and other goodies. We'll start things off with a bang, in the form of Jet City's favorite bomb tossing psychotic vigilante nutball, IRON DEMON.Iron Demon is a character that originated in a solo campaign one of my friends ran for me. He started out as a straight up Green Goblin As Hero clone, and became more and more powerful as time went on. Of the course of about two years, I played Iron Demon about twice a week. His current incarnation is about 550 points, and I'll post him later, along with the Demon Glider, the Demon Glider v2.0, the Demon's Lair (his HQ), and a representative member of …

I am in the process of creating a fire & heat based character and was wondering if it was a plausable idea for him to basically cause people to see mirages. What do you think?

Alright, the movie The Incredibles got me looking back at my old, I guess classic editions of HERO, books and wanting to play again. I am an old role-player who primarily played Champions for the longest time. Years before publishers changed hands. When Dr. Destroyer was the ultimate bad guy! A few of my favorite genres were Champions and Justice Inc., although I sampled several other genres those were the top two. Today, I am window browsing the new version and wondering what's really changed? Well, thanks... If you have any tips for "newcomers" to the HERO game system, I sure would appreciate your advice. Also... Is UNTIL still around? …

Hi. A player of mine is working on a character based on J'onn J'onzz. The problem : I play in the Champions Universe and i don't find something satisfying for the race/civilization he is from. I would like to take a official race within the CU. I thought about a Varanyi or Gadroon mutant but, at first sight, their civilizations are too different from DC's martians - I will buy "Terran Empire" later this week so i didn't read it yet - Someone has good ideas for this character ? D.

Hello again, I am working on a character, well trying to better define an old character actually. I have a couple reasons why I am posting here. Mostly in hope for some constructive feedback. The character I am working rebuilding had a varient of time manipulation; more so towards manipulating the threads of time and space. The abstract concept was that his spiritual essence existed across a multiplicity of time, space and dimensions funneling towards a singular entity--empowering his physical form. The threads of destiny, choice, or however people want to theorize various timelines are also the spiritual strands that give cohesiveness to his spiritual e…

Reading through the excellent Vibora Bay I ran into a genre trope; the idea that the “average person†scoffs at the existence of magic in the CU. It’s a classic comic book bit, but it always bugs me. In the real world the majority of Americans believe (or say they believe) in God, angels, demons, ghosts and life after death. Surveys show a narrow majority believing in or claiming to believe in UFOs, astrology and fortune telling. Americans are buying enough books on spell casting to keep those books on most chain book store shelves. All of this in a world where no one, as far as I know, shoots lightning bolts out of their eyes. In my own Comic Book style campaig…

Okay, I've got a bit of a problem. Now, due to my lack of esthetic sense, I've got a character whom I can't seem to come up with a costume with. He originally had a "flagsuit" design on his costume, but has since abandoned it and what I'm looking for is an "anti-flagsuit" look. Originally I simply reversed the colors on the color wheel. I used heromachine to make the prototype, then edited a little bit. Unfotunately...well, you can see for yourself. Any suggestions on a better design/color scheme to convey the concept?

Hey gang! It's about time for me to start writing the "Official Hero Con Adventure" for 2005, which I'll run probably half-a-dozen times over the course of the year at various shows and events. Last year's "Pulp All-Stars" was a pretty successful adventure, pitting Doc Savage, the Shadow, Tarzan, Mandrake, the Saint, Nancy Drew and occasionally Indiana Jones against the malevolent menace of the Volcano Master in 1936. In that spirit, this year's event will be a similar collection of all-stars, except this time around the year is 1982, the Cold War is on, and the heroes will no doubt be heavy on bionics and talking cars. So I'm looking for suggestions of characters, …

Random powers (falling, barriers) 1 2

I've been tweaking a few things to try and accomplish - stuff, and I'm having trouble accomplishing two powers I'm looking at. Negate Velocity: something akin to Feather Fall, that prevents you from being hurled at speed into wall X or falling from a twenty-story building into thick and chunky salsa. It doesn't necessarily have to stop the character from actually taking the plunge, but should prevent nasty side-effects. So far what I've come up with is 10" of Gliding and Breakfall at 18+char. I'm not so sure I like it, because I have to set an arbitrary limitation for gliding (only useful for negating velocity). Any suggestions? You Shall Not Pass: just a fr…
