Hi folks. I'm new to the boards but not to the system, though I only just got the 5th edition recently. I've talked a friend into GMing a superhero campaign, now, and all that remains for me is to finish hammering together a solid hero. Problem is, I'm kind of stuck. And that's where you fine Hero gamers come in! The gist of my concept at the moment is that the character is the son of an evil mastermind, someone on par with Fu Manchu, Ra's Al Ghul, or the Kingpin. He is taken away from this villain and adopted by a nice family, growing up relatively normally until tragedy strikes and his father's agents try to "reclaim" him. His adoptive family is slain some ti…

Creating the power H to H Reflection 1 2

I have a teleport specialist who creates Local Gates that he uses for missile reflection. I would like to create a power that would simulate the effect of reflecting a hand to hand attack as well (effectively setting up a gate to intercept a punch who's terminating point would be inches from the attackers face)

As the title suggests this is a quest for powers- A group brainstorm. The character in question is an amoeba. His name, amazingly enough, is Meeb**. I have him built, but am looking for unusual shapeshifter/brick tricks. Here is the pertinent data - Meeb has a 50 STR, and shapeshift touch and sight - with the limitation that he still always looks and feels like the amoeba he is, but he really has no actual form (well maybe the equivelent of a bean bag chair). He also has stretching. His shapeshift will not let him really be rigid, just his amoebiodial self. Most shapshift powers are the "grow wings/teeth" kind of things, and that doesn't really fit Meeb. He…

I recently watched an anime called Shadow Skill, where powerful martial artists have used the Shadow Skill to do tremendous damage against their opponents. I am a fan of Fist of the North Star but Shadow Skill is what gave me the idea of wanting to play superpowered martial artist. Anyone seen Shadow Skill and can give me input on how to build Elle Ragu or Scarface? If you can provide a copy of the entire build or character sheet, even better!!!!!!

Hi all, I was making a mimic power pool character and thought that it would be a cool gimmick if his "borrowed" powers faded at a rate of, say, 10 points per turn. I jimmied around with side effects on the control cost, but that would just fade the whole vpp at 10 points per turn (or phase, really, the way side effects are written up) and what I want is each power to lose 10 AP per turn. Should I just buy the side effect limitation on the Control and on each power copied by the VPP? Has anyone made a custom limitation imitating this effect, for powers that lose "oomph" each time they are used (not all or nothing effects like activation rolls)? …

Hiya Gang, Long time artist Albert Deschesne has been contemplating working on a sourcebook for his campaign universe, "Metaverse". He's been considering a Hero license, as well as making it a M&M Superlink product in one of the following formats: What do folks here think? Also, how many people would be interested in such a project? Is there enough of Herodom who'd want in on this? You can see the original post at http://www.mutantsandmasterminds.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=95115#95115 or you can just chime in here I know that I'd buy this in a second! Anyone else?

This is a scenario that my Bay City players are actually going threw at the moment. Your team encountered a powerful youg mutant. He appears to be about 12 years old and is gifted with extensive psionic powers. His being hunted by msyterious and seemingly alien creatures that seem utterly determined to capture him. With the help of your team, you manage to fend them off and the boy stays with the team for awhile, as he is powerful and seems to have amnesia. Over that time, you learn he's highly intelligent, bright and generally pleasant but has little knowledge of human culture. Medical examination will determine the "boy" isn't even human at all. He become a sort o…

You find a mysterious black aircraft has been left parked outside your base (if your group doesn't currently have a base, assume it was left at a location you frequently visit). An envelope bearing your name, or the name of one of your collegues, is taped to one of the landing gears. Inside, you find a typed note that reads: The instruction manual is in the cockpit. Familiarize yourself with this craft and its systems, you will need them very soon. –A Friend Assuming you go inside for a look, there is indeed a seven-inch-thick black book sitting in the pilot's chair. Quickly leafing through the manual, there are sections in it for Flight Controls, Communicat…

This is kind of a broad one. While a fighting a villain with temporal powers your character finds himself thrown far back in time, back to the dawn of human civilization. For all intents and purposes, he or she is trapped in the past for life. Would she live a life of isolation, struggling not to change the past? Try to use her advanced knowledge to change history for the better and improve the lot of the primitive peoples around her? Something different all together? Edit:If it makes the answer more interesting, feel free to assume your character either knows how time travel works or doesn't in their universe.

Ok I have a major problem. I am running a game this friday (day after thanksgiving) for some of my friends, i have read about 1/2 of "sharper than a serpents tooth" to run for them. I know the system, just didnt know the module. I get half way through and they say that you need Killers, Conquerers and Crooks, I have tried to order this from my local store but they wont be able to get it in by friday. Does anyone have the stats for the guys in the module already put into herodesigner? I need these stats to run the game, and I am all out of options. I was going to order a copy from the online store here and cancel the order i have with my local store, but it …

Help with GM
by levi- 8 replies

I am in a group of regular Champions players and we try to play every other Friday night. For the most part, I am the GM for these games, but there is one other member of the group willing to step up occasionally and run games. I am grateful that he gives me a break from running all the games and a chance to play some of the heroes I really love. However, (you knew that was coming) the games he runs are sub-par and frustrating in that he has grand ideas, but doesn't want to follow them through to their conclusion because it would involve too much NPC role-playing or massive combats and when he does run a combat (usually a robbery or break-in scenario) he is frustrated …

I've been wanting to GM champs again. I can't really find any players in my area for the game I want to run. So I started kicking around the idea of GM'ing a PBEM. I GM'ed a PBEM Traveller game a while ago. It fell apart, but it was fun while it lasted. I've just been over to Hero Central. The thing with Hero Centeral is I still can't figure out what it's supposed to BE. Is it supposed to be sort of "play by message board" where each major scean of the story gets its own thread? Then, the GM adds new threads as the story progresses? So maybe a new scean starts every few days or so, and the players contrubute through the day as their life allows time…

WWYCD: The Arc Setting: CU, or your Supers campaign. NASA (or your detection equipment) informs you that a five kilometer long star ship has entered our Solar System. The Star Ship is broadcasting a message in Latin, identifying itself as “The Arcâ€, and requesting instructions. NASA (or your detection equipment) informs you that the ship appears to be at least 5000 years old. You and your team are transported to the ship to investigate, either under your own power or with the loan of a space vessel. Docking is automatic, and the technology is at the very limit of anything you have seen. Once inside, you find no human crew. Instead, you find a complete, workin…

I noted in the FAQ that it's considered allowable to constantly assign one common limitation in a Variable Limitation setup, but what if you have a small set of common limitations that don't all occur at once? This grew out of thinking of Frozone's powers-- he definitely has the common ice-power limitation "Will Not Work in Hot/Dry Conditions" but it looks like he can sometimes swap that out for the Side Effect "Dehydrates Self When Powers Used" (for some risk of damage). But those are the *only* two limitations and they don't occur simulataneously. Would this be treated as Variable Limitation that just happens to have two forms?

Hey; I'm hoping to get a Champs game going with my game group, and I'd like to try running it in the Nightmares of Futures Past setting produced for the Marvel Superheros game a couple lifetimes ago. Has anyone else out there tried using that setting for Champions? I'm planning on running normal or slightly lower powered supers, to keep it under control for a while, and to keep the players too scared to confront Sentinels directly, at least at the beginning of the game. (This site has a lot of the information from the first book in the series). Anyone have any experience with this? Anyone got a lead on good Sentinel stats for 5E? Thanks, …

UNTIL vs. PRIMUS?
by Guest rbezold- 17 replies
Has anyone ever given this some thought? I'm not talking about who has the best gadgets, agents, point totals, etc. That's not important. I'm talking about funding. Primus would (duh) be funded by the US government. And UNTIL would be funded by the UN. But who funds the UN? We do. We provide 40% (or more) of the UN budget. So my question is this: If push comes to shove, would UNTIL and Kofi Annan give PRIMUS and George Bush any crap whatsoever? And if they did, how many nano-seconds would it take for Bush and the Republican Congress to cut their funding? And if UNTIL gets their funding cut, do all the bad guys hunted by UNTIL get free experience to…

Hi Everyone, I was wondering if anyone had created handouts for their super-villains - the handouts something in the vein of a CIA/UNTIL/FBI dossier on the character? I am thinking of doing something like this for Dr Destroyer but I was wondering (hoping?) if someone had already done something like this (for Dr D or any other villain). If not I will do it eventually and post. Thanks Daz

I'm really noobish on working with the Hero System so please do forgive me. I have this really neat idea (at least I think so) of a Tactical Brick character that kinda has a different powerset then normal but I don't know how to write it up. The idea is to have a stronger/tougher then normal mutant type character who has a pool of powers that are useless before he starts getting hit. Also there's a danger point that if he absorbs to much energy he takes the extra as straight damage with no defenses allowed, so he may need a way to shunt the excess or just leave it that way. Also the more he absorbs the more he'll bleed it into the air but thats SFX speaking.…

Is anyone out there taking on a 250 point psudo-supers game? I have an idea for a campain where the heroes not only get to have spiffy powers and abilities, but still have to fear a normal police officer. I want heros to be a new and rare phenomenon that is just starting to come into play. The plan is to start the characters at 250 and "bump" them up every few sessions as their powers manifest. If anyone has a campaign like this, can you give me some feedback with your experiences? I like to hear your "war stories". ArgentLupe
