I'm building a character who has fairy powers. Basically shrinking, wings when shrunk, and access to magic. It is the magic I need help with. The plan is to have either a multipower or elemental control for all 'spells. All spells will have to take OAF (wand), gestures, incantations RSR and side effects (at some level, but maybe some more than others). The side effects will generally be the power effecting the caster or something closely related to the sfx. I don't want to exceed 60 active points by much. So far I have: Charm (10d6 telepathic mind control: treat me as your best friend) side effects: MC on caster. Sleep (6d6 Ego blast) side effects…

While reading Hero a day got my on this train of thought, it's not because any of those awesome characters have goofy names, but the fact that one of them leads the national mexican hero team. That reminded me of one of my favorite goofy names... Az-tech. I loved him in V&V, but I wanted a more Iron Man type of guy. He's been a back burner project for...hmmm..decades now. Another is, of course, Psi-borg. Any other slightly goofy names that you just love anyway?

I remember someone posting a few of the old V&V villains to the boards, I thought it was the crusher gang but maybe it was FORCE. Anyway, I lamented that I had not converted my V&V Villains from meta creator to Hero. Well, I found the zip disk and reinstalled MC and...welll...nothing. My character sheets are at odd versions and I can't run teh conversion accurately, they basically become error monsters and are black save the name. Any MC to HD conversion masters out there? i could email the zip file to you and then get the converted back and brush them up... oh well, I gots to go to bed now, let me know okay?

I've always reall enjoyed the whole San Angelo setting. Chad got it a few years back (ack, probably quite a few years now) and I just really liked the setting. So a week or so ago I saw a copy and bought it (online). It arrives and it is v1.5 which has, apparently, been converted away from Hero. All the characters are statted out in M&M SuperLink and Action System, which does me no good at all. While I would MUCH rather have the original one (with the Hero stats) I'm now looking at converting the characters to Hero. Anyone done any conversions from either M&M SuperLink or Action? And how DARE they move away from the epitome of RPGs, that is He…

Just wondering, as I so often do, if anybody's ever made a character with an Achilles Heel, in the metaphorical sense; a powerful character who has one event or weakness that results in him being completely and utterly screwed; the classic comic-book example being Superman and Kryptonite (of course). Was it entertaining, or did it just wind up getting annoying after a while?

...character in your campaign world (PC or NPC) and how were their defenses built? I'll go first: Adam Gray (NPC antagonist, Silver-Surfer personality with Superman powers set), 40 hardened resistent PD and ED, 50% resistent Damage Reduction. He also has 20 BODY and 60 STUN. The PC's in the campaign started out at as standard 4th ed. 250-point characters but are now up around 600 points (almost 5 years later).

Most often used in humor campaigns, but they also show up from time to time in regular campaigns and teen champions sorts of campaigns. Heck, even Gotham City had the Condiment King, and he fought Robin and Batgirl. So who are your campaign's most memorable goofy villains?

Nexus and I had a disagreement on the subject of VPPs; in his experience they're too often used to play "anything you can do, I can do better," but in mine they're more often used for "Can anyone here... never mind. Jacknife!" So this got me to wondering, in your experience, how are field-changeable VPPs most commonly used? Do they more often help games, or hurt them?

How would you build a saftey net (regardless if it is made from webs, forces of energy, common day rope, etc) in champions? Gliding, only to reduce falling perhaps?

Unstoppable 1 2

I'm building Juggernaut who's schtick is being completely unstoppable. So I was thinking about using tunneling, above ground only, to represent his busting down walls and such. But, can you only "tunnel" when you are physically breaking through a wall/obstacle? I'd like to be able to do move thoughs through walls and characters in one attack. Like a super move through. So I was thinking if you could, it'd be worth the points to buy enough tunneling (especially after disads) to do effective movethroughs that cut through walls and other obstacles like butter. What do you think? Can't recall if it's even legal, but I doubt it.

Heya! My wife and boy played some Champions over the weekend...good fun. However, we come from a strong d20 type background and some things came up during the game that kind of stumped me. Situation one: my son "Shock" (a wise cracking martial artist/electricity mutant) wanted to grab one anti-mutant goon and smash him into another. I had him do a grab and then (in the same action) throw the guy, making a hit roll with a -2 (I figure it is kind of unwieldy). Should this take more time or is there a different mechanic to resolve this? Situation two: My wife's character is "Tempest" (a party girl who hangs with Paris Hilton and Tara Reid by day and fights cr…

I'm making a powered-armor character whose suit is adapted from a super-space-suit intended primarily for asteroid mining. So far I have the following: Any other suggestions? I'm thinking that the two main things to guard against are solar flar radiation and micro-meteorites. Perhaps some kind of intense magnetic field surrounding the character which deflects the particles as well as ferric projectiles? I want to make this character sort of a defense-specialty brick, so any ideas that you have which extrapolate from necessities of surviving deep space are also welcome.

Sorry to those that hate these threads and I hope this one hasn't been done before, but it struck me as interesting. While on patrol in a suburban neighborhood (Or passing threw on more important business if you such things are beyond you), your PC stumbles onto a group of superhumans attacking what appears to be a perfectly normal middle class home with heavy and lethal force. Its only blind luck that the family isn't already dead. The attackers turn on you savagely regardless of if your character intervenes or just approaches to investigate. They are heavily armed, powerful, well coordinated (to a military degree) and equipped with advanced gear and weaponry that …

PRIMUS is holding its annual seized property auction to benefit the spouses and children of agents killed in the line duty. Since the agency recently raided a major VIPER nest in the area, there's a huge assortment choice stuff up for bids (no weapons or supergadgets since the auction is open to the general public). Anyone may bid on items by showing up in person, sending a proxy, or bidding online at the agency's website. Items available include: Tons of furnature (couches, chairs, desks, tables, file cabinets, book shelves, lockers, bunkbeds from the barracks, the executive desk toys from the nestleaders office, etc.) All the kitchenwares from the nest's canteen D…

Every time I try to think of a cool bird or motif for a character I get stuck because it seems like they've all been done. Bats, hawks, falcons, ravens, doves, and on and on. (I'm speaking only of comics here, not published HERO characters.) Anyone know of any unused flying creatures? Menacing ones preferred.

I am working on a Power Armor/Bot and I am trying to make a force field that can shift damage points. I was thinking something like a 30 PD/ 30 ED that can take different defense levels. Say if fighting something powerfully physical the field can shift points to all PD of 60 or the reverse for energy. Maybe forms that shift points in 1/4 incraments? Any help please?

Hi, The GM of the Golden Age campaign in the Global Guardians Universe has left. I have three other duties in the GGU (NPC Director, co-GM of the Force Pacific campaign, and co-GM of the upcoming Senshudan One campaign), but was thinking of co-GMing the Golden Age campaign because its fairly unique and has a good set of players. So I would hate to see the campaign die. I was wondering if anyone here is interested in co-GMing. Even better yet, if someone wants to be solo GM, then I'd just lurk once again. Any interested persons please contact me at home_n@hotmail.com Thanks, Neil (also posted on the Player Finder list)

I have been running adventures in Bab 5 universe for a few years now. We are currently about 10 yrs past the events in Excalibur. I also incorporate fantasy and mysticisim. I have worlds with elven kingdoms, dwarves and dragons. My main villians are Drow and an Interdimensional conglomerate trying to ascend the Dragon (Mystic World). I basically follow Galactic Champions rules but it does make for some interesting characters and adventures. I have a few PC's that have elves with psionics a half dragon and my main character is half drow from a family of good aligned drow who trascended to another world around 11,700 BCE before their ppl became fully evil. Drop a…

Have you (or have you been in a game where) something that was very appropriate for a power was accidentally left off? How did you (or the GM in question) handle it? This isn't the 'Man, I wish I'd bought Power Defense!' take, it's more of the 'whoops, we misbuilt this power'. I was proofreading a brick (a 350 remake of an old character) earlier tonight, and it occured to me that I hadn't put 'Restrainable' on his Brick Tricks Multipower, which it should logically have (can't do the Sonic Slam hand-clap if you can't swing your arms, after all). If something like this happened in a game, how would you do it? Have them play it as it should be, then do a little …

Was googling around the Net when I stumbled across Tales of the Common People. It contains fanfiction, primarily centered around the Marvel Universe, but with a twist: none of the stories are about superheroes. Instead the challenge of the website to writers was to create stories about ordinary people who lived in the Marvel Universe. The stories are a mixed lot, as can be expected with most fanfic. Still, I thought it was an interesting perspective, especially for GMs who have to create and play NPC characters, ordinary people in a world with superheroes and supervillains. I know there are folks always looking for idea fodder.

Greetings, all. I'm playing a timelost character in a Champions version of the Legion of Superheroes setting. Gamma Girl grew up in America in the 70s, playing Robin to her guardian Lady Gray's Batman. In 1979, at age 17, she got transported across time and parallels to the DC Universe Earth, 30th Century. Now she's a Legionnaire, but she still occasionally uses 70's slang--and I'm too old and too English to know much besides 'groovy', 'far out', 'wild' and 'crazy'. Can anybody help me with a more complete list of things teenagers actually said in the 1970s? Did American teens still use dated 1960s phrases in the 70s? What was 'hot' and what was not in term…

We are playing a game where one of the players isn't horribly familiar with the system and wants to play a speedster. I was going to make the speedster for him. There is only one problem, I've never done a speedster before. The characters are built on 300 points, 200 base 100 disadvantages. Can anyone help me with this?
