I'm in the process of writing up a higher-powered version of my longest-played Champs PC for the New Circle thread. Part of this process is adapting his background to the standard Champions Universe, in order to fit with the thread in question. Because I haven't been able to pick up all the books that probably contain the answers to these questions (but I plan to eventually), I have to rely on the helpfulness of those on this forum. 1) IIRC, the last Archmage died in 1908, correct? Has it been revealed how that individual perished? 2) Has anything about that individual been revealed in print? Was he/she at all likely to have summoned a demon to gain info…

Okay. I need to create 4 350pt supers (good guys, magic powered, siblings). And I figure their powers should collectively fit a theme. But apart from the overused 'classic' four elements... I'm a little stumped. Helps?

Okay, my Bot is starting to come to gether. I think I have gotten a idea of how I want his force field powers to work. Only one thing confuses me. I was thinking of putting in a force wall power into his multipower build. But here is the kicker. It cost way to much I think for any decent level of defense. 5 points per 2 points of resistant defense? Whats that mean??? If I buy a 10/10 Force wall, will a normal EB blow it to hell? Can someone explain the workings of force wall vs force field besides the range/shape/etc stuff? I read throught the force field stuff in Digi-Hero and found it to be what I was looking for. God I wish I could find a mentor to explain thi…

You are in the area near Harold's Pawn and Gold (insert character appropriate reason here) when you see the flying vigilante, Air Raider, land in the pawnshop's parking lot. In his left hand is the reciever unit for some kind of tracking device.* From his menacing posture as he approaches the front doors, you know right away that some one in that store is about to be in a world trouble. He approaches the counter, grabs the pawnbroker by the collar of his shirt, and pulls him up face to faceplate. "The diamond earings, who did you buy them from?" Raider demanded, gesturing to the pair of earings in the display. "I-I don't remember. Really, I don't-" Harold said, per…

Need help coming up with a construct for a particular effect. The character is basically a blob, well an amoeba (the character in the amazing amoeba powers thread actually) - he can generate psuedopods from any portion of his body, and he has 360 degree senses - every part of him is just as the same as every other part. So in the game today, he took knockback. It makes sense within special effect that he wouldn't have to spend a half phase to re-orient himself... something I didn't even think of when building the character. But that can actually be a pretty effective ability - at a 5 speed if he got knocked down every phase, that would be 5 half phases he doesn't loose.…

As requested on another thread, the stats for the New Sentinels, the campaign I and several others on this board are currently playing in. Well, actually, most of us have posted our stats already on the CBR.com games board thread, which is where we handle our campaign admin. (It's an online game, played in chat.) http://forums.comicbookresources.com/showthread.php?t=133 We also keep transcripts of our game logs there. So far we're on two days of game time, and 28 sessions. (... we talk a lot. A lot. And we keep getting interrupted. Wrath of ye gods, I think we had two supervillain attacks, a hospital crisis, and a kidnapping to another dimensi…

I've been kind of OD'ing on Static Shock recently, and I started thinking about it in Champions terms (I'm a geek, sue me). I'm figuring that being 14 or 15 (High School Freshman age, if I'm computing right) should be worth some measure of a Disadvantage, because of the long list of things you can't do: Vote, drive, drink, next-to-no legal status, school, adults usually don't take you seriously, etc. And if the investigation leads you into a strip club, you're SOL. The question, of course ... is what kind of Disad and how many points? Best guess for category is Social Disadvantage, I'm thinking 10 points (Infrequent, Major). It doesn't come up all THAT often (ex…

I'm going to be running a Champians demo game soon at my local FLAGS - The Island of Dr. Destroyer! As you all know, this is a high powered game, and I anticipate character deaths. Lots of 'em! So I'm going to need a LOT of character sheets. I was thinking just use published heroes (after all, I can download their Hero Designer files). The thing is, those character tend to be a bit complicated. The usually have lots of attacks in a multipower, and wierd stuff like "Aid to DEX" that I am NOT going to allow in a first time player to use in a one-off. I was hoping you guys could post some heroes and their Hero Designer files. Feel free to put your forum name …

Bane once asked who was King Of Gotham... the answer, of course, was Batman. Would Batman fit nearly as well anywhere else? Even as the writers shaped Batman, they shaped the city around him. Grim and decaying, Gothic and majestic, dark and brooding; not unlike Bats himself. Flipside, Superman... flying, yet among the common folk and styled by many "The Man of Tommorrow" while at the same time having a bit of sterling 50's feel to him. Metropolis is bright, towering, in a word... super. These characters have almost become avatars of their respective cities. It's harder to this for teams, which most Champions games consist of, still, I was wondering ho…

Are there some characters that are TOO evil to ap;pear in a Champions game? It seems that in many comics there are characters who represent something so foul that their very existence seems to be an offense against the universe. One example that leapt to mind, and prompted me to think about this issue, is the Batman: the Animated Series villain the Sewerking from the episode "The Underdwellers". the Sewer King had taken hundreds of orphans off the streets of Gotham City and turtned them into his perosnal army of theives. He treated the children, none older than ten, liek chattel, holding them to such a strict code of silence that they literally lost the power of spee…

Can everybody share some things they do to speed up the combats in their champs games? My last game went roughly half the pace I wanted, so I am doing a few things to speed it up for the next game. I made a GM screen with all the charts I keep looking up. I put the stats of my most used villians right on the screen. I put a picture of Trogdor on the other side of the screen to scare the players! I also made up sheets with pre-rolled dice results. Each sheet has 30 results (Stun + body) for 5d6 through 14d6. I didn't bother with 4d6 because the only common 4d6 effect in my campaign is the speedsters area effect, selective on his str, which is quick to roll an…

Well, here she is. Inspired by my own offhanded use as an example while making a point in the Jane's Superhuman's thread, and the fact that she stood out enough for other people to mention her several times, I decided to actually put the character on "paper". Talk about an Omega-Class super! What follows is pretty much the final draft of Omega Girl. As always, feedback, suggestions, and questions are welcome. If anyone is interested in whipping up some artwork for her, I don't think I'd object too much... (Keep in mind that for most primary characteristics in my games, you'll rarely see anything over 30 except for STR -- I'm not fond of what is, IMO, …

Just for clarification's sake, I was wondering if a few of you could help me out... My character: Bastion... is a "brick" (strong guy) with Growth and Density Increase. Dr. Sebastian Castle was a Physicist concentrating on Quantum chromodynamics, familiarly called QCD; the modern theory of the strong interaction at the sub-atomic level. Specifically Dr. Castle was working on high density QDC and the possibility of altering such primal forces. What he discovered would change his life FOREVER! The set up... 1. Bastion engages both his DI (30 pts) and Growth (30 pts) giving him a 75 STR. (His natural STR = 15) 2. He reaches over (with one hand) a…

Hello all. I need help naming a violent enviornmentalist supervillian team I am making. I don't want to go too deep into the members or their abilities since a couple of my players frequent these boards and would look, and that would ruin the surprise. The only thing I can safely say is that they are led by a druid type and they act much like eco-terrorists, attacking pollutors and such to stop their 'despoiling" of the land. I don't even have any ideas. So any ideas would be great. Thanks, John

Good Champions 5e modules?

Can anyone recommend some 5e modules for a group of 4-5 characters? I'm looking mainly for well-written adventures, modern 350+ supers. Electronic versions are okay too, if they're good quality.... (As much as I like to write adventures, I just don't have the time anymore, and I don't want to convert any of the old classics.) Thanks, NN

What, if any, classification system do you use for superhumans? What factors do you consider important when judging them against each other, or as threats? Who maintains the classifiction list in your setting? Champions Universe presents one system, on Pg 39. The list itself is maintained by the DoD. It uses a variation on the common "Greek Letter" system -- an "Omega Class Superhuman" keeps people in power up at night. Killer Shrike has a very detailed chart of motives and power types on his Enforcer's Inc. list (where my own Cerebellum is a Delta-class threat ). Inspired by these threads: Jane's Superhumans Omega Girl Enforcers Inc

I was surfing around and found an interesting idea (although not new) for a Supers team. It is a government run/sponsored team. The heroes get paid depending on the type of mission they undertake. I was wondering if anybody runs this type of campaign or if the teams are freelancers. I was thinking about this and then started thinking about the JLA.... They are incorporated under United States laws and get an annual grant from a blind-trust. Having this as a basis.... They have one-heck-of-a grant!!!!! If you watch the JLU cartoon show they have a huge space station and several smaller satellite stations. I was thinking of going the old UN Global Checkbo…

In the Plot Seed document, there's a plot seed for Mechanon (submitted by Hermit) where Mechanon takes over an automated nuclear power plant and threatens to unleash hell on earth. Part of the description cites having the players fight their way through the power plant to Mechanon's lair fighting against the automated defenses. For some reason I'm picturing this as little mobile robotic units created by Mechanon from the existing defenses of the power plant. How would you write these up if you were going to use them? I'm curious to see what ideas for mechanized units such as these are out there. I suppose alternatively one could take ideas from Black Harlequin's…

Hey guys [and girls! we live in the 21st century now]...I was wondering if anyone knew how I could get my grubby little hands on Golden Age/Silver Age comics, e.g. pre-Crisis DC stuff, especially since I'm guessing they're no longer commercially available from their respective publishing companies. I'm not looking to buy rare copies and put them in a secret, vacuumed vault 2000 miles under the ground. As a young'un around comic veterans I get lost whenever I hear people talk about how Hal Jordan is still the REAL Green Lantern for them, or about X-men heroes whom I've never heard about. Perhaps there is some sort of abandonware depository, either online or off, that …

I'm building a character who has fairy powers. Basically shrinking, wings when shrunk, and access to magic. It is the magic I need help with. The plan is to have either a multipower or elemental control for all 'spells. All spells will have to take OAF (wand), gestures, incantations RSR and side effects (at some level, but maybe some more than others). The side effects will generally be the power effecting the caster or something closely related to the sfx. I don't want to exceed 60 active points by much. So far I have: Charm (10d6 telepathic mind control: treat me as your best friend) side effects: MC on caster. Sleep (6d6 Ego blast) side effects…
