I've been tweaking a few things to try and accomplish - stuff, and I'm having trouble accomplishing two powers I'm looking at. Negate Velocity: something akin to Feather Fall, that prevents you from being hurled at speed into wall X or falling from a twenty-story building into thick and chunky salsa. It doesn't necessarily have to stop the character from actually taking the plunge, but should prevent nasty side-effects. So far what I've come up with is 10" of Gliding and Breakfall at 18+char. I'm not so sure I like it, because I have to set an arbitrary limitation for gliding (only useful for negating velocity). Any suggestions? You Shall Not Pass: just a fr…

Witchblade, for those of you who don't know, is a Top Cow comic book, about a female NYPD detective and the self-aware, mystical gauntlet that has bonded to her. It was also the name of a television program, that lasted for two seasons, dealing with the same characters. How do we write the witchblade itself up?

I am posting this thread to gain input on a character that I am developing for 5th Edition Hero. The characters name is Soulcatcher and she is a Metaform character. This is a character concept that I have been developing over three different editions of Champions/Hero, 3rd, 4th and now 5th. The basic idea of the character is that she is able to absorb the lifeforce of a being/entity at or shortly after death. Once she has absorbed a being/entity she is eventually able to assume the form that was absorbed. A while back, I had a post up saying that my next game was going to have a simultaneous group origin ... all the PCs were going to get their powers in the same way at the same time, though they'd all have different powers (well, unless through some bizarre fluke of probability, all the players DID want all the same powers). I'm starting to have second thoughts about it, though ... I hate restricting my players, and this feels very restrictive to me. Asking the players probably won't help ... While working on something for my wife, I came up with this conundrum. She's interested in a character with Astral Projection ... so the character has something to do besides scouting, I'm raiding the online USPD for Spirit Projection Powers (as well as rooting through some Yu Yu Hakusho info online). I kind of like the idea of the character having a Spirit Energy reserve, so I gave the character an Endurance Reserve for the Spirit powers. For the Astral Projection itself, I did the Duplication-leaves-body-behind stunt; however, it seems that the Duplicate should draw its powers from the same Spirit Energy reserve ... if the base character only has, say, 45 END lef…

What DEF & BODY would you give a normal car door? Obviously, the damage required to disable a car is far greater than that required to rip off the door. I've seen some references to the whole-object values, but can't find any good guidelines for the specific part. Is this in the Vehicle Sourcebook, or the Champions book (neither of which I have purchased yet)?

I'm working on a character for Corven_Ren's Knights of New LA campaign and I've run in to a snag. I've got his background basically worked out, his powers mostly done, but I for the life of me come up with a good superhero name and i was hoping you all could give me some advise. In your (or your primary) Champions campaign do Super powers have a central source/rationale? Or do you go with a more "open" origin for supers? Perhaps something inbetween? 1. All powers have a common origin and there is a single explanation for why they break the laws of phyics. 2. All powers have similiar origin (all mutants) but there isn't really an explanation for them 3. Powers work because otherwise it would be a pretty dull comic game. Stop asking stupid questions.

In one of the old NES games, one of batmans movement tricks was to get between two walls and jump towards one. Once he hit it, he'd just jump right off before he could start to slide, and hit the other wall. He'd ricochett (sp?) off the two walls till he hit the top. Kind of like a mountain goat. Now, would that just be an acrobatics roll at the end of each jump? Breakfall maybe?

I have watched a couple of the old Stephen King movie classics, Carrie, Misery, and the Shining this week. I was wondering if anyone had built Carrie, and that creepy hotel in the Shining for HERO. Actually Carrie would be fairly easy as she would probably be a somewhat standard normal w/o her powers. Basically I would be curious on how to build her telekinetic powers exactly (particularly her TK STR). ANyway as far as the hotel in the Shining I have no clue how to go about that.

How well suited for Champions are the Fantasy Hero Grimoire I and II? I know they're geared toward Fantasy Hero (hence the title), but I'd like to know how much adaptation would be needed to make the magic therein work for Champions in terms of power level, in-game practicality, and all that.

I think the darkest I've gotten as far as mood went was one scenario a few years ago. A serial rapist was stalking New York. The evidence pointed to metahuman as the victim never saw anything at all and there was no foresnic evidence at the crime scenes. There was no evidence at all except for the victim's stories and the physical signs on their bodies. The criminal was a 13 year old mutant boy who was manifesting psionic self, a telekinetic construct that roamed when he slept acting his most id fueled sexual fantasies without his consious awareness. What have some of your darker plots been like?

...all I can say is, WOW. I loved the sourcebook, and almost all of the villains therein were cool as can be. Dr. Destroyer was everything I imagined he'd be, and seeing stats for Takofanes was pretty mind-blowing as well. A few questions about Dr. Destroyer: Does he survive to the Galactic Champions time period? HI all, This may sound strange, but I've found weaponsmasters to be some of the most difficult characters to design and work on in Champs. I don't know why, but... I have one right now in my campaign who's basically an amazon wielding a magical axe (why yes, I did watch Buffy. How did you guess?). It has several 'basic' moves (hit with the flat for a HA, Armor Piercing w' Range based on STR), and some odder ones which I did to emphasize the 'magical' nature of the weapon, like Ghost Cleaving (Affects Desolid) and Missile Deflection. I'm trying to work on a 300 to 350 point hero who can control light. I want him to be just beginning to learn how to use his powers so I'm not sure what to give him. I know there are tons of things I could do if he was more skilled, but I'm not sure what powers to give him initially. I was thinking on giving him energy blast (laser) in his ability to reorder light, flash, and basic invisibility. Based on the input of several knowledgable posters, I was able to create a Phoenix clone. The multiform-form of Phoenix is still infant but will grow eventually... However, looking it at it, it seems she is pretty weak in regards to stats and maybe skills. With all this talk about Teen Champions, I have to ask: does anyone else here watch Static Shock? I think it does a good job at presenting 'teen heroes', even if some of the episodes have been more than a bit loopy by my standards. And does anyone know why the series went from 'the only superheroes are the bang babies in Dakota' to being a full-fledged part of the DC universe?

I'm thinking about putting together a Champions campaign in response to the current political state of the world. (Half the fun of being a SuperHero is that you can do something about big problems, and political problems can't be directly solved with most superpowers.) I know I want the power level to be planetary, not cosmic. These heroes should be among the most powerful in the world, that's why I'm thinking something like the Avengers. Allot has been said about simulating character concepts on too few points, but has anyone ever run into having too many points for a certain concept? I seem to have run across that with some of the character concepts for Seeds of Change. The players have basically run out of places to spend their points in a couple of places without altering their concepts. Not complaining about it, just an odd phenomena I haven't really run into before.

Thoughts... I'm starting a campaign on HeroCentral (here) , and I have had a few thoughts. If powers suddenly manifested overnight, randomly spread amongst the world... (it's a little more complex than that, mind)... what are the odds people in positions of power would get bumped off as soon as one nut with an axe to grind has the power to evade conventional defenses? I'm thinking that might happen a lot. So. The entire world is in political turmoil, and no one in the world is effectively organised. Actually. What _would_ happen if every single member of the new admin was killed next week?
