The title of of Zornwil's thread got me thinking about different combinations of Invisible powers and wondering if a team of 4 could be made around that theme? One has Force Powers with Invisible Power Effects (IPO) (Telekinesis and Force Wall/Field). One has Light Powers which include the power Invisibility as well as Images, Flash, RKA (IPE), NND etc.. One has Mental Powers centered around Mental Illusions (to appear invisible only) with Area of Effect. One has Super-Speed Powers that allow him to move so fast that everything he does appears* to be invisible to nearly everyone. (* will not work against other speedsters?) What does everyone think? Would th…

Hello all, I'm going to be starting up a new campaign very soon, and naturally I'm looking for some ideas on just a start up scenario, and maybe one after that. The campaign will be set in the San Angelo: City of Heroes setting, so there won't be any aliens or any overt (yet) mystics. If not at the beginning, then very soon I'll be running VOICE of Doom where the players have a chance of joining an already existing team, Freedom Squad.* Here are my two big problems. The first is that, even though the players will be built on 350 points, there are only TWO players in the group (the other two had to drop for job reasons). Second, even though I'm hoping they'll…

http://www.sanguine.com/Ironclaw/setting.shtml I just heard of this. It's done for anthropomorphic fantasy, but it's probably easily adaptable to human and humanoid characters as well.

OK, I'm making an athletic brick character who is the ultimate highland games player. His main attack powers will be an oaf multipower based around the caber. I was thinking of making it streching, always direct, only one body part, only to do damage, plus a hand attack and a range based on strenght hand attack, then got to thinking that if I make everything ae, I don't really need the streching at all. I figure the Caber is about three hexes long. What I would like to do is a hand attack that is ae radius, but only in a half circle and three hexes long to represent a swing accross the front of the character. Any idea on how to do this shape? Also, what do you …

Pursuant to the idea proposed in the "Jane's Superhuman" thread, I'm trying to come up with some quasi-military terms to use for our major metagaming archtypes. Would a Martial Artist be plausibly called a "Light Close Combatant"? Somehow "Brick" just lacks that unique military cachet. So I put it to Herodom assembled: What better non-metagamed terms can we come up with for: Bricks Martial Artists Energy Projectors Mentalists Speedsters Stealth-types Miscellaneous (Teleporters, etc.)

Where does the gm's rights to alter matters involving a PC end in your opinion? Can the gm ask for stat alteration? How about changing and deciding about aspects of the character's background that are left undefined? Or defined things? (Ah, you just thought you were a mutant, you're actually a clone with implanted memories!)? WOuld you as a player be angered by something like that or find it exciting?

I am putting together a campaign write-up to pitch to my group about doing a superhuman-based campaign, but one without them being 'superheroes' with costumes. The idea suggested itself to me while I was reading the comic Planetary. I like the idea of the Planetary Foundation as a basis for adventuring, and I was wondering if anyone else had ever done such a campaign. What are the advantages and disadvantages you have found in doing superhumans in a superhero world who aren't costumed heroes, just adventurers who happen to have superpowers?

I need help constructing a power. I'm trying to replicate the Goblin Glider (or the flying playing cards that the Royal Flush Gang use). Would you guys say it's a special effect, a focus, a clumsy focus or a vehicle?

Here's the deal: I've got a figure whose body is almost entirely cloak. The idea came up that the cloak was his means of attack. This could be... Darkness, centered on the character, small radius; Possibly coupled with an AOE EB, with kind of a smothering or squeezing/strangling SFX. Entangle, blocks senses; Problem here is that he would be literally dragging heroes around with him (since he wouldn't be leaving the cloak behind) Extradimensional Travel; His cloak would be a gateway to the abyss, and merely opening it would allow him to wrap up foes and send them through into the nothingness. Problem was that it makes a fight too easy for him, and that it's unfai…

I'm working on a brick themed about the tall tale of John Henry and I wanted to toss out some ideas and see if anyone had any others. I see the character as a Everyman Hero, demonstrating the themes of Endurance, Will and the Strength of the Common Man. So I don't see his powers are being extremely flashy and focussing on sheer dogged determination. Here's what I have come up with: A HTH Attack (Hammer), may or may not be magical. Incredibly high Constitution, Body and Endurance, almost tireless, great physical strength. Average Intelligence but high Ego and Pre. I'm thinking his Defenses should possibly be invisible. Bullets, blows, et al, don't boucce, …

Making Money 1 2

My character is an upcoming campaign is a powerhouse psychic, mostly a telepath and telekinetic. with some metasensory abilities. She's got a 200+ point VPP (max. 80 points in any given power), a number of vocational skills (woodworking, metalworking, electronics, drafting), and she's from a rather poor background. She's just recently discovered her powers, and naturally she wants to find a non-criminal way to make money off them. At the same time, however, she want's to keep a low profile for the time being. Oh, and she's 17.

I'm thinking of giving my agent-level NPCs a new toy. 1D6 RKA, Standard Effect, AOE Radius, Penatrating, 1 Charge Per Day This attack will do 3 Body and 6 Stun in its AOE every time it's used. Now the 6 stun isn't likely to get through the PD of even a Compatent Normal, and most PCs have AT LEAST ten Resistant PD. But because it's Penatrating, it will ALWAYS inflict one Body an ANYONE who doesn't have Hardened Defenses. And because it will inflict one Body, it will ALSO break one Breakable Focus on EVERYONE in the AOE. I'm thinking of calling it an EMP Grenade, made just to take out the sensitive, non-hardened electronics that are in just about E…

Thought I'd post a LINK to let interested Champions players here see our team's new starship, Mjölnir. (Named after Thor's mystic hammer) MidGuard is currently in deep space, planning to tackle the mighty Ackalian Empire and prevent it from destroying or conquering Earth with a preemptive strike on the Ackalians (Since the Ackalians already tried to destroy Earth with a huge 35 KM asteroid.)

Global Guardians Campaign Looking For Two Players
by Guest Worldmaker- 8 replies

Global Guardians Team 2 is looking for a pair of heroes to fill the shoes of the recently departed Long Shot and Magni. The most successful submissions will be either bricks based on a mythological figure and weapons masters (with a preference for ranged weapons...), though other character types will be accepted. Those interested should contact the GM directly. ********** Campaign Description: The Global Guardians campaign is a high-powered PBEM campaign featuring the adventures of the Earth's premiere hero team. The player characters are the cream of the crop of the superhero world. Importance of the Player Characters: Very important. Not only …

Just wanted to let the DH playtesters/testreaders know that Hudson City is now available in the usual place. Looking forward to hearing your comments! Please note that I will be in London from Dec. 2-8, and thus unlikely to have much (if any) opportunity to check the playtest board, much less answer questions, so don't worry if you don't hear anything from me for a while. If you have any questions/comments, please post 'em in the "Company Questions" thread of the same title.

Before I start I want to reinstate: THIS IS FOR AN NPC, NOTHING MORE, THIS IS NOT TO BE TAKEN AS AN INSULT TO ANYONE, THIS IS ENTIRELY TO HELP ME PORTRAY A CERTAIN CHARACTER, I am sorry if this offends anyone. One of the characters (not player) in my game is asian (Chinese to be precise). Not to get into to much detail but I am looking for some racist expresions to color a NPC with, here is the hard part:The character is from the 50's and does not know he is insulting, this is alot more to do with ignorance and cultural norms of a by gone day than an actual attempt to degrade a character.

What are some of potential pitfalls of a campaign where the PCs are some of the first superhuman beings to appear in their world? Has anyone run one of these games long term? What were some of the high and low points?

In our monthly run yesterday our team MidGuard defeated Eurostar in a pitched battle on a tramp freighter in the Aegean Sea. We had no idea they were involved; we'd already defeated another villain team they'd treacherously set up as scapegoats and rescued the crew of a Russian nuclear sub. Eurostar had us on the ropes for a few seconds; at one time two of our 4 members were out and the other two were stunned, but a couple of seconds later we'd turned it around. My martial artist Zl'f got to strike the final blow that put Mentalla down, with a fabulously lucky 44 Stun generated with a 10d6 attack. (Mentalla even Ego Blasted Zl'f and stunned her while she was fighting Scor…

Tonights game will involve a news story of an disaster in Glasgow, Scotland. Dr. Destroyer moves into Glasgow, Scotland with an explosive device connected to three large chambers with chemicals in them. The device slowly begins mixing the chemicals and starts a catalyst. While this is happening, a UK Superhero team moves in. Stasis manages to get Dr. Destroyer in a frozen state long enough for Blarney to punch him into orbit. Not having enough time to get the bomb diffused, the team decides that whatever chemicals are in the vat, taking away one of the mixtures has to be better than having all three. So Blarney breaks one of the chambers and Banshee uses her…

Hi guys, unfortunatly there will be a delay in starting the campaign. Last night while I was begining to type up the first post to start the game my monitor for my computer died. I am accessing the net from my local library but unforunatly they do not allow access to our group website for the campaign. My wife and I are planning on buying a complete new computer from Wal-Mart via layaway but I am not sure when we will be able, time line wise, to pay it off. Sorry for any inconvieniece this has caused you guys. But as I like to say "It happens with or without the sh in front of it" Sincerely, Chad McMinis a.k.a Corven_Ren G.M. Knights of New L.A.
