Pulp Hero

Two-fisted thrills and adventure in the world of the Twenties and Thirties!

  1. Started by GestaltBennie,

There's a real lack of Pulp Hero characters in the Hero Designer archives. This needs to change. I've posted another three characters tonight, and I hope other people will do the same. I know finding PD photos or artwork is a real pain, however it'd be nice to make it easier for people to use Hero Designer to quickly pick up a Pulp Hero PC, and for that we need to fill the archive.

  6. When a man's partner's killed, he's supposed to do something about it. It doesn't make any difference what you thought of him, he was your partner, and you're supposed to do something about it. And it happens we're in the detective business. Well, when one of your organization gets killed, it's - it's bad business to let the killer get away with it. Bad all around. Bad for every detective everywhere. From Sam Spade, in The Maltese Falcon. Lucius Alexander The palindromedary wonders about soft-boiled detectives.

I'm planning on running a Pulp game, but I haven't bought the book yet. I'm unsure about the best way to give players starting equipment, and am also unsure about appropriate costs for future equipment. Is this covered in the book? Or, do any of you have a useful system. Any help would be sweet.

First off, I'm at work and don't have my Pulp Hero book with me (Thanks, Kenn for that idea). Regardelss I've had a derth of good conversations on this forum recently so a question might stir something up. When did scientists first start using 'waldos'? I'm not talking about the robotic ones of course. What I'm really asking, when did the glass case with rubber gloves inside come to popularity within the American lab? Where would I search to find out?

I looked around here and didn't see any of these books mentioned so I thought I'd bring them to everyone's attention. Amazon recently took a good deal of my money for these and I'm looking forward to reading them. As I get time to read them I'll try to let you know how they are. Chinatown Death Cloud Peril - Paul Malmont: Malmont's debut thriller reads like pages torn from the pulp magazines to which it pays nostalgic homage. It's 1937, and the nation's two top pulp writers—William Gibson, author of novels featuring caped crime fighter "The Shadow," and Lester Dent, the creator of do-gooder hero Doc Savage—are trying to solve real-life mysteries that each hopes wi…

  13. I am currently in a semi-monthly pulp campaign run by a GM that has two separate player groups in the same world. Yesterday, we had a big game where the players from both groups played at the same time. We were in Ethiopia trying to get Haile Selassie safely out of the country. While trying to do so, we were strafed by an Italian aircraft. My Gadgeteer fired his Engine Stopping Ray and another player shot at the plane with a Thompson. I used some HERO Action Points and hit, stopping the engine cold. The other player also hit, doing further damage to the plane. Crash/Burn follows. Great teamwork! [We also had a sub-mission to gather intelligence on troop strength…

Here is another mid-high end pulp character, that could with some modification fit in a lower-end pulp or Golden Age superhero game. Best Product (Pulp Hero) Fan's Choice Best Publisher (Hero Games) Congrrats also to Storn for being part of the team tghat did the interior art for the Mastermind Manual. It's a beautiful book. 18. I have before me fragments of Abdul Alhazred's unspeakable book, which I shall copy here to preserve them and to comment on my findings. These pages were taken from a copy of Olaus Wormius' forbidden translation of that text, written in the Low Latin. I have translated the passages as best I could, and hope to bring them here, to study and understand them. Can Man live forever? Is it possible? I find this passage particularly telling in this reguard. That is not dead which can eternal lie, And with strange aeons even death may die. These words were written by that mad Arab Abdul Alhazred, also known by some as Abd al-Azrad (the worshiper of the …

I'm trying to figure out how to do the A-team in Hero. Pulp seems like the best genre considering how the show worked. My big problem is how to treat guns. The A-team didn't kill people, they shot at people. Would this be a PRE attack or some varient on STUN where the bad guys surrender when their damage ran out?
