Of all places, I found a possible plot seed for a pulp campaign at church. The guest pastor spoke of a project to help the underprivileged in a place called McDowell County, which is one of the poorest 5 counties in the country. It's mining territory, and he spoke of how, once upon a time, the mining companies would send their goons out to the homes of the miners to make sure they're not gathering to plot the improvement of working conditions. Anyone caught hosting or attending these meetings was fired and kicked out of his home. This was definitely during the pulp era. Depending on the tone of the game, the heroes might show up in town with the intention of free…

Hi, I have been looking all over for stats on the major (and minor) characters from the Indy movies for my campaign. If anyone can point me in the right direction, I would be very grateful. Thanks.

I could swear I started a thread like this, but I can't seem to find it anywhere. Anyway... My next campaign for my regular Saturday group will most likely be Pulp Hero. I think I managed to convince the majority of the soundness of the game, and the few naysayers will either have to suck it up, or find another group (which is acceptable to me - no one should play something they don't want to play, but I've been hankering to run Pulp Hero for a year, since my last Pulp game died). Anyway, it's going to be Vigilance League II (Electric Boogaloo - or maybe not). I'll be having only Pulp Heroes (the Golden Age supers didn't work out too well, they ended up dominati…

I don't know how session write-ups are received here, especially at this level of detail, but "Johnny's" synopses are so cool (and in character) I just had to share. If asked to cease and desist I will. A while back I asked about write-ups for the boys. This is the result. The Exploits, Enterprises and Experiences of DOC's BOYS Ham, Monk, Renny, Long Tom and Johnny (as witnessed by your faithful correspondent, Dr. W.H. "Johnny" Littlejohn) CHAPTER ONE Our peregrinations took us to the untracked and uncharted Amazon Jungle in pursuit of the legendary Sacred Golden Chain of the Incan Emporer Koosko. The successful aquisition of this relic sparked …

Howdy, In Pulp hero there are a couple of characters with weird skill groups; I am referring to Dr Emil Locke (p397) and Dr Jennings Petrie (p401). They both have some skills listed so: 3 Traveler 1 1) AK: Africa 11- 1 2) AK: China 11- 1 3) AK: Europe 11- 1 4) AK: India 11- .. .. .. 1 18) CuK: South/Central American Indians Culture 11- (Dr Petrie has similar, except it's named Scientist, has a base cost of 3, and costs 2 per "slot" which gives him a 13- roll) This looks, to me, like it's an Elemental Control, except: a) it's not identfied as such it has skills not powers in it c) the slots have less base points than the b…

Check it out: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,185546,00.html Serendipitally (is that a word? ), this dovetails quite well with something Rob Hudson and I came up with for Thrilling Places.

This may be a little too late-period for Pulp, but... http://www.cnn.com/2006/AUTOS/funonwheels/01/17/scottsdale_concept_auctions/index.html Barrett-Jackson is auctioning off a number of concept cars from the 40s and 50s in Scottsdale, AZ. They are fantastic examples of Art Deco automobile styling, worthy of being inspirations for Pulp Hero vehicles. I especially like the GM Futureliner Bus, which would make an interesting group vehicle for a particularly political villain or hero. I'm sure a lot of gadgeteer Pulp Heroes would drive a high tech sports car like the Pontiac Bonneville Special. Mainly, I think this is a great site for the images! It's tough fi…

In November 1922, Howard Carter told the world, "I see wonderful things". Since then, no tombs have been found in Egypt's Valley of Kings. For decades, it has been the considered opinion of scientists there are no more tombs to be found in the Valley of Kings. New tombs, new pharaohs, have been relegated to fiction. Until NOW! At last, a new tomb in the Valley of Kings! OK, it looks like they're just some retainers of a pharaoh, maybe some sarcophagi rescued from raided tombs. Still, if this tomb exists, maybe others do.... ...Others found by your pulp adventurers whilst tracking Nazi mystics looking for the True Crown Of Upper And Lower Egypt, with its ability …

The headline says it all: 'Lost world' may be Earth's last http://www.abc.net.au/science/news/stories/s1565276.htm No dinosaurs or giants apes though. Just think, newly discovered lost worlds and Egyptian tombs... What a great time to play a pulp game.

Crabfu Steamtoys. From my underground cyberpunk connections I dragged this out of the dark corners for all your Pulpish needs set in the late 19th Century. At least until the Victorian Hero forum get set up when that sourcebook is written this was the closest things. Consider it resources for ideas on how real steam powered things might work.

Oh wow... a Pulp-era webcomic of a masked crimefighter! http://www.captainspectre.com/ Based on the most current webcomic (which mentions Clark, Kent, Red, Dick, Britt, and Kato), it features not only an original character (Captain Spectre) but multiple Pulp-era crimefighters.

Just finished reading both books and they are two very different books indeed. One is by the newly emerging master of action books, Matthew Reilly. The guy writes action movies that happen to be in book form. Intruiging and ridiculous, they are still a ton of fun. The other is a very serious attempt to combine all of the latest data gathered by archeologists in North, Central and South America to get a true idea of what the Americas looked like before the Europeans arrived. I can't recommend this one highly enough. Anyway, on to the basic ideas in these suckers: Both books should provide a GM with tons of ideas for ongoing adventures in the Indi…
