On the other hand, why wouldn't he go? Why would he want to be stuck in those conditions if he didn't have to be? It's not like he's as dumb as the people who voted for him. csyphrett
THere was a cspan clip going around where another senator was politely calling Ted Cruz a piece of crap. And here is the senator from Texas proving him right. But it's Texas. They're used to their politicians being criminals and useless pieces of crap. He'll get reelected easily CES

Lord Liaden
I read that the Democrats are now in a position to redraw the congressional districts. Generally a questionable power, but in the current circumstances I can't decide whether that's problematic or necessary.

Lord Liaden
It's not even possible any more to shame Republican politicians for past hypocrisy. They just try to brazen their way out of it, like Trump does.
Matt the Bruins
I believe Cruz tried to spin it as "being a good father" by accompanying his family on a vacation planned before the winter weather hit. Nope: https://www.nytimes.com/2021/02/18/us/politics/ted-cruz-storm-cancun.html?campaign_id=60&emc=edit_na_20210218&instance_id=0&nl=breaking-news&ref=cta®i_id=100892330&segment_id=51939&user_id=e80884a66306fc0742e52358ae9f839b

Matt the Bruins
Honestly, I'm surprised the family has a dog. I'd have expected any pets to be something Cruz would be more comfortable with, like say ophidians...
Simon
Seriously hate to do this, but I'm not sure that the dog bit is anything really bad on Cruz' part. He went on vacation (given the timing, that was _bad_)...and he had people keeping an active (supposedly 24hr) eye on his home...and taking care of his dog. That's inline with what I normally do, except that the folks I have watch our dogs typically stay inside the house. Not defending the "vacation" or Cruz (perish the thought), but I think the dog is the wrong angle of attack. death tribble
He'd better pray that it does not make the British press. They'll put up with most things but harm an animal and they'll form a lynch mob and get you.
Simon
that's just it - he didn't harm the dog in any way. You don't take a dog on a flight to Mexico, typically - you leave it at home and have someone look after it.
