I was just thinking that prior to the MCU, most of the heroes in these movies were very obscure as far as the general public was concerned. Most people had at least heard of Spider-Man, Wolverine, and to a lesser extent Hulk, but outside of comics readers the others were unknown. Now they're worldwide icons. Iron Man, Captain America, Black Widow -- Black Widow -- have become legends and role models that will be known and loved for decades to come.

I still have not seen Avatar. Am I missing anything?

Not really. The best parts were how it handled the 3D cinematography, which was very carefully done with stereo cameras and long cuts to allow the viewer's eyes to adjust properly. The underlying story's just so-so, and it's often compared to either Ferngully: The Last Rainforest or Disney's Pocahontas.

Most 3D releases nowadays aren't shot with stereo camera rigs, but instead go through a 2D to 3D computerized conversion process, with varying levels of success.

I'm not sure science can ever 'prove' time travel as science inherited a linear understanding of time divorced from metaphysics who's purview includes existence, actuality, etc.

Dr. Einstein might take exception to that categorization. According to Relativity, time is anything but linear.

I thought it was more a rehash of Dances with Wolves.

I'm interested to know more, as today I came across a second and independent reference to this. Will send details (ie sources) in a PM.

Everything rips off everything else.  That's nothing new.

Haven't a clue how it ended up with the top all-time box office spot.  I thought it was a decent sci-fi action story.  Sigourney Weaver's supporting performance was a highlight along with its immersive, cutting edge CGI.

MCU just got its own multiverse. Wow. That is big. Also seems plausible how Marvel Studios will integrate X-Men & Fantastic Four into the MCU.

The trailer also seems to indicate that they are taking the events of Endgame into account,

for Spiderman Homecoming.

Like the one we're living in?

Yeah, it's so rough now with like 1/2 the world's poor being lifted out of poverty in the last several years.  Way ahead of UN expectations and stuff.

Modern medicine and amenities are a real nightmare.

Most people from anywhere in human history would have killed to enjoy the abject misery and horror that we have today.
