Joker's Boner

Out of curiousity, has anybody fleshed out the various members of VMS-Alpha, aside from Kevin Armstrong? Do you play them as really badass fire support for Armstrong or do you actually flesh out the members of the team? For that matter, how many members do you usually have on VMS-Alpha if you actually use them? How tough are they when you actually DO use them? I'm intensely curious about this, also if I ever get around to running a game VIPER would be a powerful force in it and I'd use VMS-Alpha at somepoint.

So to the open wound we go again. Sorry to those of you for whom this creates pain. I love the setting implied by the Champions:New Milenium book. I bought it on a whim a while ago and now I'm looking for the real deal as it were. How congruent are the story lines/settings and what are the major differences? What I like about what little I have read so far is the continuity of the whole universe. The other major comic producers (IMO, YMMV) have a disjointed at best overall continuity. I like that the existance of supers has changed society significantly other than cowering in fear from the evil aligned ones. (Only the X books seem to approach this level of s…

Uncle Sam sits in a nondescript farmer’s field on the eastern seaboard. Below him is a contraption the likes of which Nicholas Gernsback could have hardly conceived of; that is if they could see it under its mantle of invisibility. Uncle Sam sits and watches the western horizon; he is waiting for the return of the prodigals he has so recently brought together. “It won’t be long now.†He whistled to himself around a green stalk of fine spring alfalfa. A zephyr of wind from the east sweeps across the field. Uncle Sam’s brow furrows and moving slowly around, he turns to face the wind. His eyes, ever bright, shade slightly as he looks…

DBZ references aside ... In my Teen Champs game, I've got one PC who can turn into water, and another who turns into anything of earth or stone. Someone mentioned an old issue of Spider-Man where Sandman and Hydroman slammed into each other and merged into a mud-creature, so I'm waiting for these two to try it. How do we do this? The only thing I'm coming up with is some kind of weird Summon with the Specific Being modifier (the merged form) and some side-effect where the two PCs disappear ...

I've got a big problem with my Champions game. I have alluded to it in other threads on this matter, but I really need to address the issue somehow. I have a problem with two players in my game. I'm not confrontational and I hate to say no. But I feel that two players are taking advantage of that. Much of the problem falls on my fault. If I was more assertive and wasn't as afraid of hurting a player's feelings, I'm sure this wouldn't be a problem. One of the player's character simply does not fit to game concept. He has no interest in non-combat related discussion from what I can see. He is built with the Physical Limitation (Knows Nothing of Earth Cultur…

I have a Thor like player in a supers game in a non Chapions world of my own design.... Thanks to all of you guys, I have a good background and set up for the world and what not, with all the plot and villian groups I need, however, Im missing deep storyline with any god based character. Individually, shes has a decent plotline, but I'm having problems finding the exact origin of gods and dieties in my game. Shes a nature goddess that right now has her power in a gem in a tiara that the "human" character wears to transform. I just really dont know what Im doing about gods in my game in general, and I hadnt really made ANY plot for them, until one player want…

I have come to the Boards for some advice, following in the echoing footsteps of a whole host of confused or searching gamers. You see, I had an idea to refresh a character who had fallen out of my campaign. I thought I could pick him up, brush him off and send him into a new campaign and thus (in the latest attempt to join up my characters and campaigns in the Global Guardians Universe) give the guy a second shot at hero life. He was a basic martial artist, originally, but with the new submission I added a twist by sending a disembodied telepath to take up residence inside his mind. So essentially I now have a guy who shares his head with a girl whose own body ha…

Okay, I already have the character built. She is essentially a power armor character, but the power armor was an emergency/medic response unit. Except that the power armor is just some gauntlets and boots. Some of her powers include: Healing: Basic Healing Medica laser: RKA Anesthesia: NND ranged blast What I need help in is new powers and special effects. Some ideas I have are: Chemotherapy: NND ranged attack delayed. AID: Endurance aid I also wanted to the idea of a Defibrilator (the electrical pads doctors use when people have heart attacks) but I don't know what kind of power it should be. I was thinking of a EB with no range, but seems a lit…

I had been thinking about using San Angelo as the basis for a campaign, but setting it in the Champions universe. However, the more I look at the two settings, the more I feel that they just wouldn't work together. It would be easy enough to adjust the point levels in San Angelo to the new 350 point standard, but the real difference is the feel of the universes--SA presents a much more "realistic" and low powered world, whereas the CU is a very four-color place with near-cosmic powers at work. As far as I can tell, simply stating that the city of San Angelo exists within the Champions universe will remove most of the differences that make it unique and attractive as …

hi all one of my players chose to take amnesia for his character. he just woke up one day and didn't remember anything. well his past is come to bit him in the A**. he was/is a member of the order of the white dragons, more specificly the last member. he has been in hiding for the past 500 years guarding the last dragon eggs. one day he was ambushed by a group of black dragon members. after a long battle in the woods he was subdued. rather than give up the location of the dragon eggs he erased his own memory. the black dragons let him go in the hopes that he might regain his memories and lead them to the eggs. one of the members of the balck dragons has gotten impat…

For my campaign, I need a heroic NPC mentallist. I can create my own, of course, but would prefer to use one that already exists in CU canon. Ideally, he (or she) would have psionic powers (at minimum Telepathy or Mind Control) and be on good terms with PRIMUS. It would be even better if they were a PRIMUS, FBI or other law-enforcement agent, but that's not strictly necessary. Thanks!

I'm going to be running an episode on a battlemap (maybe even two!) which may very well be turn out to be a major Viper incident in our campaign. For those of you who have the old Viper book, the Prime Serpent has gotten the components to create the U-1250. One hero has infiltrated Viper for months now (been out of active playing) and uncovered the location of where the testing will be taking place. Many villains in Viper's service will be there, just in case. The heroes are going to be launching an attack on them this time, instead of reacting to a crisis caused by them. Loads of fighting to occur and lots of damage. The problem is: I have a mental block and can't t…

These are the write-ups I'll be using at Kubla Con. I actually volunteered to run this twice. Once with the following write-ups and again with Sidekick rules in the Young Players section. Any suggestions for improvement would be helpful. I got a lot of good ideas from Allendral's write-ups and I cleared it with him before I swiped'em. So to give credit where credits due, the really good stuff is his. So the game's set in Marvel's Ultimate Universe and the basic premise is that on the same weekend Spidey is visiting his friends at Xavier's School, Normon Osborn comes out of his Coma and springs Magneto from his cell in the Triskellion. So I'm teaming up to…

I'm planning on creating a Lucha Libre character for a game I'm in. His name is El Tigre De Oro. The thing is, I'm not exactly sure how best to represent the Lucha Libre style in Champions. Can somebody help me out? El Tigre De Oro btw, is a El Santo homage.

Last game I introduced a new villian to the campaign I've been running for two years. A few days later I realized this new guy was the behind-the-scenes Kaiser Soze for most of the plot so far. I was as surprized as anyone. I find that I do that a lot. My players think I have this complicated overall plan, but in reality it just sorta jells organicly. Anyone else have a simular experience?

I was searching through the archives and came across a thread talking about how the Champions suck at their current level. So I got curious, how would anyone increase the Champions to make them more of a super-star team? So here's a challenge, update the Champions. Say to 600-650 points each. Go ahead, I dares ya!
