Which dinosaur hides would make for the best leather clothing/armor? Note that the threat level of a species is no object here. What are the most ideal dinosaurs for a civilization with the best in 1930s technology to rear/raise for their hides?

I debated posting this. After the Creeper it seemed to fit, but has important differences. For one thing its not a page long, and was campaign specific so to do the whole thing would require rewriting. So I'm just going to do a quick breakdown of the adventure. For now... after all every good horror movie has a sequel. Monster Mayhem A strange series of articles appear in the paper during the week. First young socialite Karen Whitaker claims a vampire stole her jewelry. Then businessman Fredrick Stern claims a giant corpse like man with stitches stole a briefcase full of bearer bonds. Finally Grant Maxwell claims while walking through the woods he was r…

Assuming one or more members of your group are the Adventure Archaeologist type, the PCs are in the Valley of the Kings in Egypt where the entrance to what is believed to be a lost tomb has been unearthed deep in the desert. While exploring the tomb, your character and the others pass through a corridor with alcoves carved into the walls on either side. Mummies appear to be on display in twenty of these alcoves, though curiously there are no markings to indicate who any of them are. That's when something unbelievable happens: the mummies' wrappings seen to come to life! A bandage grabs your character around the ankle, but he/she manages to tear/cut it off and run for it. …

The Article At Cybernetic Zoo Not so much pulp as steampunk, but it's a heck of a look. Perhaps it could serve as inspiration for someone looking to build a mechanical man. There it is for anyone who's interested.

As a type of Pulp setting, this one is probably one of my favorites, the Flash Gordon/Buck Rogers type of world. What are some great "Raygun Future" settings out there?

Your attending a fancy party hosted by the suspicious noble/industrialist you suspect is behind the current trouble. Taking the chance to look around you slip away from the party. While poking around a room you shouldn't be in two oddly garbed men sneak up from behind and attack you. After defeating them you...?

While the overview of the world in Pulp Hero was extensive, it obviously had some unavoidable holes in it. (Such as nothing about the USA between Chicago and California.) So, tell us a little bit about your hometown as it was in the 1920s and '30s. To lead off...Sandstone, Minnesota is approximately halfway between St. Paul and Duluth. If you look at a map of the eastern border of Minnesota and imagine it as a face in profile, Sandstone's on the bridge of the nose. The primary employer in the time period is the quarry which gives Sandstone its name. In the 1920s, Minnesota sandstone is used in important buildings throughout the US, and the town is booming. …

I'm trying something different here and planing on running a local retro-pulp space game in the vein of Captain Video, Tom Corbett, and the like (all my previous pulp games have been terrestrial and temporally restricted to the late 20's - late 40's). Since there was talk about games of this sort, I'm attaching the current version of the campaign document for folks to check out and draw inspiration from. I make no claim to originality or ownership for anything in this material; it's fan fiction. Some of it came from Star Hero, some from Steve Long's Solar Smith setting, some from the Cosmic Patrol setting, some from GURPS Tales of the Solar Patrol, some from the R…

So I was on tvtropes, don't do it save yourselves, and looking over the femme fatale, vamp, heroic seductress pages. Then I remembered a warning in Pulp Hero not to use such charecters because players will spot them a mile away and not fall for their usual tricks. So anyone ignore this advice? Which archetype have you used/ run into most?

I know that Pulp Hero is the current resource book for the Hero System but was there ever a time that both Justice Inc. and Pulp Hero overlaped, or did Pulp start getting distributed only after Pulp Hero was discontinued? And what were the differences between the two, originally? Did one contain the core rules while the other was simply a resource book? And does the current Pulp Hero resource book pretty much have everything that was in Justice Inc.? In other words, if I bought Pulp 5e, would there be any reason to track down an edition of Justice Inc. other than it's a hard copy? Thank you.

Couldn't find any links to this amazing resource already on the board, so apologies if I'm duplicating: The Digital Comic Museum Tons of free, pre-1959 comics covering a wide variety of genres. None of the usual "big names," of course, but plenty of forgotten characters and authentic pulp action. A great source of images for pulp games, too. Someone nudge me if I'm in there for more than a couple of years

When your characters aren't globe-trotting, what cities are "home"? Where do you set your crime-fighting adventures? Real world ones like New York? Ficticious ones? (Hudson City?) Other? Feel free to rave on at length about cities in your pulp games. Golden Age Champions games, too, if you feel like it. One I've been looking at recently is "Lakefront City" from the old TSR Gangbusters game. Hudson City is another possibility. Pinching bits from both seems even more likely... Ghostbusters II was on TV here again recently. That reminded me of Beach's Pneumatic Subway, which must surely have some Pulp potential.

Jason's just posted my latest adventure for Pulp Hero -- The Temple of the Topaz Skull! When the government enlists the help of Our Heroes to prevent the Nazis from obtaining a valuable Mesoamerican artifact, the PCs find themselves on an adventure that leads them to Mexico City, then to Central America, and finally to the mysterious, and potentially deadly, inner chambers of a long-lost temple! Can they survive the perils that face them — and the Nazis and tribesmen pursuing them — to return to civilization with the fabled Topaz Skull of Cozcatl Cuaxicalli? You can get your copy here for just $1.99 -- hours of fun for mere pennies! Don't delay, buy today!

I just had a few questions as I'm thinking about getting back into hero, and I loved Justice Inc. We use the 5e version of Pulp hero with 6e rules right? and we use the 5e to 6e conversion document? I haven't bought any books yet but before I drop some cash on PDF's I would like to know wht I need to run Pulp Hero. Thanks

In Ancient China, the tripod cauldron, the ding, was a great mark of status, used to perform rituals and sacrifice to gods and ancestors. The first ones, the Nine, were cast by the first King of the Xia Dynasty (or his son) from bronze claimed as tribute from all the Nine Provinces of the land. These were used through the ages as a mark of divine approval, and holding the Nine Ding was holding China. When the first Emperor, Ch'in Shih Huangdi, finally overthrew the remnants of the Zhou Dynasty, he ordered the cauldrons moved to his own capital, Xianyang. They never reached the destination. Now, skip forward to Pulp Times! China is in disarray -- warlords fight for…

Has anyone ever heard of this comic series? I admit I hadn't heard of it until last week. But I'm intrigued. It definitely fits in the Pulp genre, and the art style looks like that of the Tintin series. There are a few episodes of the animated series on YouTube, but they're in French, not English. Blake and Mortimer

Over on the National Geographic site there's a story about an ancient metropolis unearthed in the Honduran rainforest. And if that doesn't get the old pulp juices flowing, maybe it's time to hang up your fedora

I am rusty in my gaming, so could use some inspiration. I've got a long-game - a loose idea of where the campaign will go (mostly down the Eastern Coast into S. America, stopping at towns to perform and solve mysteries). I'm looking for some eps that just get them into some action, and I'll pepper it with clues and plot-threads. Episode Zero "Escape from New York" (the get-to-know-your-hero ep) had our heroes and their Phantasmagorical Flotilla docked at Battery Park, New York, where they were the hub of a circus festival. They received a mysterious note from a PC's circus-owner grandfather/patron, urging them to make haste for <MacGuffinTown**> down the co…
