In your (or your primary) Champions campaign do Super powers have a central source/rationale? Or do you go with a more "open" origin for supers? Perhaps something inbetween? 1. All powers have a common origin and there is a single explanation for why they break the laws of phyics. 2. All powers have similiar origin (all mutants) but there isn't really an explanation for them 3. Powers work because otherwise it would be a pretty dull comic game. Stop asking stupid questions.

[Moving thread here from Star Hero forum, since it pertains to more of a "superheroic" game level.] I'm curious -- how does your table handle the "vehicles for vehicles/bases" rules when designing bases or vehicles? Some thoughts... At one end of the spectrum, "The Ultimate Vehicle" includes an example of an elevator on p. 167 as a vehicle. This seems unnecessary to me: surely an elevator or a turbolift can be considered "everyvehicle/everybase" equipment? As a more central position, that same book describes defining missiles as vehicles, and gives examples of various types of munitions-as-vehicles on pp 130-133. These would in turn be carried by a lar…

So my Native American hero bought a contact with "very useful skills" (or extremely useful, I forget the terminology). I have the contact listed as an Ancestor Spirit but I haven't detailed anything else. Now I'm having trouble coming up with skills an ancient Native American would have that would be "very useful" to my character. Survival sure. Ideas would be appreciated. Instead of ancient I might have to make it a more modern. A grandfather maybe

Wanted to bounce this idea off the list, to do some "reality checking". The concept is- 1)A modern day superhero setting (post 9/11). 2)"Metahumans" are pretty new-there is NO metahuman known that has powers older than two years old. However... 3)The oldest of metahumans are at about a quarter to a third of the power level of Superman or such. 4)Every metahuman, without exception, has either gone villan or hero at a 10/1 (villan/hero) ratio, in one form or another. 5)The GM is going to prohibit player time travel, but there will be an NPC that's going to come from the future, and 9/12/2001 is the "hard limit barrier"-nobody can travel backwards in time pas…

Firstly be warned, this one is kind of long. One day your PC heroes are asked to investigate something very strange. An opaque force field has appeared over an inhabited area; probably a relatively isolated one, a small town rather than a suburb or urban neighborhood. It should also be very badly run down. Think like an Appalachian coal patch or the like. Or at least it was. The once barren area outside the dome now looks as lush as the Garden of Eden. At any rate, the authorities tell you that no radio or other contact has been made with anyone within the shielded area from the moment it came down. They did send some troops in, or maybe someone sneaked in, but …

I was bebopping along the web the other day, and found this. http://home.flash.net/~jeanneb/ It got me real nostalgic. Now, however, I'm wondering if anyone has based a Champions campaign on the PCs being a group of Second Stringers. Be it the "Legion of Subsitute Heroes", "The Mystery Men", or the more serious New Warriors trying to get a little respect from the FF or Avengers I find a fondness for the 2nd Stringers. They can be played for comedy, or the more dramatic davids in a world full of giants. However, I can also see the frustration of not being the star of the show... So, has anyone played/GM in a "Second Stringer Squad"?

Another thread prompted this one. (Now, how often have you read THOSE words?) How often has your character taken a life of his own and started doing stuff you didn't plan on him/her doing, and you couldn't get him to behave? What happened with it?

Sorry, liked the quote from an episode of Law & Order... Anyway, what happens if a villain is incarcerated and gets the death penalty, but due to his physiology, he survives the lethal injection. What happens next? If you live through the death penalty, do they keep trying till they get it right? For the legal eagles here, feel free to explain to layperson me what would happen using small words.

You've all been there. Your hero has the defenses to take a punch from the big bad and stay on his/her feet but the dice and your CON conspire against you. You've been CON stunned. As a GM, especially since I tend to play with people unfamiliar to the game, I try my best to narrate the shenanigans and goings-on using as little game talk as possible. Some things are easier than others to do this with. One aspect of Hero System gaming that is easy to describe in game mechanical terms but not so easy in plain english is being stunned. Let's put on our GM caps (I know you have one) and discuss how you describe to your players how their intrepid heroes have been stunn…

Trying to design a slot in a multipower to allow a character to destroy guns. I think dispel is the power I want, a dispelled object "must be repaired, recharged or rebuilt." But not all guns are built on RKA's, some are EB, so the "expanded effect" would be needed, but how strongly? I'm thinking the +1/4 level could get any single gun, agree or disagree? If insted of maing the guns nonfunctional, the character wanted to give them an 11- activation and side effect (11- the gun functions normally, 12+ it blows up in the user's hands), the only way I can think of to do this is transformation. Any other way?

BODY? COM? INT? What characteristic do you find yourself ignoring or at least unconcerned about when making a new superhero/villain? The reason I ask is because of something coming up in the Captain America thread. It occured to me that I didn't have anyone EVER with over a 20 BODY...barring maybe a few Growth types at maximum height.

Mind Controllers.... other psychic types, shapeshifters who pose as your best friend, mystics who summon unspeakable things to serve them, or unseen ambushers/snipers: They all have something in common, by some folks standards they cheat. Well, they might not see it as cheating, these are the gifts they have, the powers they possess, but the thread about Alpha Maleness and what it might entail got me thinking. I noticed a strong disrespect among some for shall we say, those concepts who do not engage in a normal straight up fight? This is a personal preference, so no worries on the player side. What I want to know is how often do you play this up in setting if a…

As a GM I'm thinking of having one of my PC's girlfriends work for VIPER. He won't know about it. Is that a no-no? I mean its only fair, right? She doesn't know he's a super hero, he doesn't know she belongs to a terrorist organization, right?

Greetings Herophiles, I realize that Players have "Embaressing Moments", but what about Game Masters. For me it was the last Champions of Vancouver: Episode 19 - "Of Leads and Best Laid Plans". Pheonix, the Silver Crown of the Crowns of Krim ambushes Archangel Gabriel, but the GM neglected to remember that Pheonix is Vulnerable to Holy Attacks. When he is struck by "The Wrath of God" (Ego Attack). Hmmm.... let us see now. No Mental Defences and a Vulnerability to Holy Attacks. Let us say it was a very short fight. So, What was "Your Most Embaressing Game Mastering Moment" Cheers QM P.S.: "Most Embarassing Champions Moment" http://heroga…

Iron Man: Armored Adventures I’m sure most of you have seen this show and if not, I would recommend it. They do take a lot of artistic license with the Iron Man story, but that’s not what I wanted to discuss. In one episode Iron Man battles the Crimson Dynamo; however, this Dynamo is more "mech like" instead of "armor like". If I wanted to emulate this character in a superhero game how would I go about building this character? Should I build the suit as a ‘large suit of armor’ (focus) or ‘vehicle/mech’? Should the character have wealth to simulate the access to such high tech? How would the character have access to the ‘mech’ before combat, perhaps an o…

I am new to 6th edition and running heroes in general. I am GMing a game and have been effectively been creating the characters for the players with more or less input from each one. One player gave me the outline of “What hurts me makes me stronger”. A character that can absorb damage thrown at him and then use it back at whoever he wants. So I built a character around Absorption with high resistant PD and ED and also damage resistant: Absorption Physical / Energy 20 x 4 storage and resistant protection (½ to strength, ¼ to stun ¼ to body) – 45 points each (The theory being that he will possibly get to 20D6 damage when at full power based on 20 start strength).…

Gentles, I'm looking for creative superheroic pregen characters (325+75) for use in a demo game at Conquest called "Champions Offline". I'm looking for a good variety of characters. You will be credited for your work on the character sheets -- HD6 files preferred. The reason I'm asking is that I have only a month to prepare the demo and I want to concentrate on the adventure -- not to mention the fact that I'm not fully comfortable with 6e chargen yet. HELP!

Did the DOJ open up the specs on Avatars? I've noticed several people have larger (and really cool) avatars and wanted to improve mine. Thanks.
