So, I was wondering how many of you have experimented with how many points your Players get. I've tried telling them to make their character on 250 pts (4th ed) then once its ready, take as many disads as they want to give the character all those cool powers. The idea was that they would make the character as it has to be then they could boost it to what it should be. This time I'm trying 350 points maximum per character for the group, then they can divide up that maximum as they see fit. Should be interresting.

If you ever have had some villian in your game die and want to bring them back (short of "'he wasn't really dead" ) here are some ideas; 1) Person is Reincarnated [Thunderbolts] 2) Person is replaced by someone else using same costume and name. [ SpyMaster,The Phantom] 3) Person's spirit lives on after them [ DP 7 's The Watcher] 4) Person enters alternate reality [ Mutant X ] 5) Person's focus is given to another [ Green Lantern] 6) Person is brought back to life [too many to name]

After much wailing and gnashing of teeth, it seems my gaming group will be playing Champions. This, in and of itself, is cause for rejoicing. It's made even better by the fact that I get to play. Or maybe that makes it worse. Now I have to decide which of the 8 zillion character concepts that have been floating through my head since the release of FREd I want to develop. At this point I'm leaning towards a streching character. I think I have the obvious power bases covered (shape shift, clairsentience, entangle, etc.), but I'm curious if anyone has some oddball pointers. Personality-wise, I'm thinking of going with a cross between Reed Richards and Plastic …

I brought up on another thread that I used the COIL mutates as the leadership of Viper in my campaign and ditched the King Arthur connections with King Cobra. It got some positive reactions so I was wondering: What have you done to any of the Organizations that you thought were improvements?

I've decided that I play too many bricks, and that the next character should be an uber-martial-artist. I want this character to be completely human: no super-human abilities at all. That's not to say that I won't take any talents. So, I'd like a couple of suggestions along these lines. First, what talents do people recommend? I haven't played a lot of martial artists. Which talents aren't worth it, which ones shouldn't be done without? Second, I want to come up with a good name. Now, rather than suggesting a name, can anyone suggest any good web sites or books with information on Chinese cultural symbolism? I don't want to name a character "Jade Monkey" …

Let's see if we can come up with 1,000 names for spells to be used by superheroes, you know, like Dr. Strange uses. I'll start with one I already brought up: 1. Cerulean (it means blue) Swords of Sarmanthyr

I want to design a super that is sorta based on a Phoenix. He will be a fire based character. Here is my problem. I want him to be somewhat weak but when he is knocked out he will be re-born and come back more powerful than before. I am not sure exactly how to do this. Anybody got any ideas? Also, I need a good name for him. Phoenix is to obvious and to overused. Thanks, X'an

No, not the dinosaur. Velociraptor is a speedster superhero I want to design and would like some guiance on. Velociraptor (real name: John Blair) is a mutant who was born with superspeed powers. Unfortunately his skin is vulnerable to air friction in a way the traditional speedster's is not, so running at full speed for any length of time causes severe burning. His way out was to create a suit that protects him from air friction while still allowing him good traction on the ground. He could run without the suit in an emergency, but he takes damage from doing so. Velociraptor is FAST and knows a lot of tricks. He frequently does things like disarm an entire roomf…

Hey Guys and Gals: I'm thinking of giving Champions a fair shake again. I have the Hero 5th Rules manual and HeroDesigner for Champions. Do I really need the "Champions" Genre Book? I don't plan on using the champions Universe I plan on making my own. Are there any crunchy bits and or absolutley insdispensible advice in there that I'll be missing if I don't get it? Midnight

Welcome to the new (and improved) boards, fellow Champions. Big thanks to Nato for putting us up for a while. I'm back to my original name, too. Hurrah Hurrah.

I need some help with my DC campaign. It's pretty much a one-on-one thing. Having looked through my copy of Dark Champions, I'm trying to decide on which adventure to run. What would you do? Run Harpcor Towers, The Bogeyman, or a scenario featuring Card Shark?

A favorite quote of one of my players. I am putting together an NPC team and have an idea based on the mythical character of Phaeton. Per http://www.pantheon.org : Kind of lends itself towards 'fire guy', but I've done the Human Torch and the pyrokenetic. Does the learned panel have any suggestions?

Hello, I have a player in my game who is interested in having a character with a sort of alternative personality. He bascally wants to play a superhero who has another personality just beneath his own. He then wants to play the game with me having his character doing things against the other players while this other personality is in control. The Hero will not know what is happening at first, until they decide that someone is traitor. What I want to ask is, should I do this? Or will doing this be a really big mistake?

I have been interested in building a host of magical powers with the style of a Dr. Strange magical mileu. I would love any work anybody else has done on this. For example, spells or multipower frameworks of related spells with names like the "Cerulean Swords of Sarmanthyr." I haven't even figured out what that spell looks like yet. I think this would add a great deal of flavor to the game so how about it? Anybody come up with their own Ditkoesque Spells?

How hard is it to find and create a superhero concept that isn;t a "clone" of some existing superhero or supervillain? Have so many superheroes and supervillains been created in various medias and games that everything has already been done? Or is everything just a riff on some very old concepts?

I created an NPC that gets his powers from a "Supreme Being". The character is an "Angel", not a paladin type (though it might work for them as well). I wanted to come up with a way to define that if he ever violated his God's code (not his personal one) that he would lose all of his powers (I thought making it a limitation on his powers was a bit much)... this is what I came up with: 25 Social Limitation: Held Accountable, Very Frequently (14-), Severe Thoughts? Questions? Queries? Hopes or Dreams you'd like to share?

Some of you may remember me from the temporary boards I posted a couple o fthings, one of them being a call for help building a "Dr. Strange" type character for one of my players ... The Player, not being satisfied with the Spell caster options i laid out for him with your wnderful help, has come up with an even "better" concept for a vigilante type of character... This one fits even less into the rules than the mage.. If i give a concept can some of you help me out??? I don't have hero designer and the book work is making my head hurt.. The basic concept is a character whose powers are fueled by his "absorbing" the strong emotions of Hate,A…

Hi Gents, I am starting a new Standard Super Heroic (350 pts) four color Champions campaign with 4 players. My group is made up of mostly experienced Hero gamers but they have never played FREd. I ended up with two PC that are almost agents without too many off the wall things and two PC that are true 4 color hero types but both have questionable rule constructs. Keep reading. I ran into three interesting but somewhat unrelated issues... Issue #1 - The two agent level characters have powers but are Dex 20 SPD 4 types. One has Ego powers but the other does not. The other two PC are speed 6 and 7. I'm worried that these guys are too underpowered. Should I …

Hi All, I'm wanting to run an old V&V module but am having problems creating the villain Ani-man. This guy is able to animate any inanimate object to do his bidding - and only needs to concentrate on the object while doing so (once animated the item has a mind of its own but follows Ani-man obediently). Could you guys help me out and create his powers (or give me ideas)? I've kinda drawn a blank on this one.... Thanks in advance.
