Nice to see we're not the only people crazy enough to argue about this.

We can finally stop calling him "Shaft Grayson" and "Rod Grayson." Dick is finally getting the respect he deserves from the profanity filter. This is not an invitation for everyone to turn into a bunch of Nightwings and start being rude and vulgar!

Pyramid Online for 2-28-03 is out, and the review section features Champions as a Pyramid Pick. (They define a "Pick" as "Gee, we wish we'd done that".) You will need to be a subscriber to read the whole review, but you can take a look at the first few paragraphs at http://www.sjgames.com/pyramid , click on the "current table of contents" link.

Hello everyone, I read somewhere (WOTC forums?) that the forums here are just a bunch of geeks bantering back and forth about game mechanics, can Capt. America beat Batman and pretty much nothing else. I want to disprove that theory. Take some time and tell us all about your campaign, I know I am interested in what is going on in your gaming world and I know more than a few of us always like to have a resource for new plot ideas and such. I promise that I will tell you all about my campaign that I am playing in, that is if the GM doesn't beat me to it... Thanks! CMC

I'm working on archetype-specific versions of my famed Champs character sheet (soon to be updated for 5th Ed.). Anyway, one of the thingies I'd like to add is a list of "Strength Facts" which would display what your brick is capable of given his/her strength. What I have so far is "Max Deadlift" which simply displays your current STR's lifting capacity, "Benchpress" which is your lifting capacity * .4, "Max Curl" which is LC*.25 (feel free to post corrections to my math if you know better), and "Equivalent to ___ men". Can anyone else thing of things to put in? Please exclude HTH damage as that's already listed in the self-updating combat maneuvers.

As some of you know, I've been endlessly building up a campaign setting and I was thinking, if I ever get to running it, I might want to toy with some concepts. While my group has no trouble at all counting dice and doing it quickly, I was thinking about set damge. You know, something like just hit does 25% hit by 1-3 50% hit by 4-6 75% hit by 7+ 100% of maximum possible damage. However, the kink in this idea is Autofires. Since how many hits is determined by how well you hit by, it also means the more shots you hit with the more damage each shot would do. I guess AE's would be a problem, too, since it's so easy to hit a hex (and you autohit your own hex...…

Hey, folx, thought I'd post a query here to see if I can save myself some design time. Perchance does anyone out there have the Aura Vision chart from page 65 of The Ultimate Mentalist typed into their computer? I'd like to include a similar power in the "Mental & Psionic Powers" section of The UNTIL Superpowers Database, and I can re-key it all in if I have to (it wasn't in my original manuscript for the book), but if someone's already done the work I'd like to save myself the time and effort. Feel free to e-mail it to me at SteveL@herogames.com if you've got it and are willing to share.

This is referred to in comics all the time. It is done well in many DC comics, where the sense of "legacy" is strong. Heroes falling in battle... dying to save the world, or maybe just one little girl from a collapsing wall. In Millenium City, which is based on the destruction of Detroit... I understand there will be a memorial to the heroes that fell in battle with Dr. Destroyer. My world has similar events in the "history" write-ups. PC origins often start with picking up the mantle of a fallen hero... ... but has anyone ever ROLE PLAYED out the great event? Has a player in your group ever managed to sacrifice themselves for the greater good? Even more s…

Are your agents having trouble with Supers foiling your well laid plans? Can your street thugs no longer compete? Are you saving: Yeah, your Combat Drugs gave us the edge, but what about slowing down the freaks in long underwear? Fear not, the Drug Labs of Mr. Vimes (Criminal Mastermind) are at your service. Thanks to Dimethyl Sulfoxide (DMSO) our drugs can reach out and touch someone. This chemical (a commercial solvent since 1953) also eases pain and inflamation... but the really nice side effect is that any chemical agent mixed with DMSO passes through the skin and directly into the blood-stream. This means faster effect times and the greater chance of affecting y…

On the old boards awhile ago, Natoman posted a couple of color pictures from classic enemies that he had done. Obviously DoJ (or is it DOJ?) doesn't want someone posting a bunch of pictures of their IP. So I was wondering if we could convince Steve et al to collect Nato's pictures and perhaps sell them as a download if Nato is also willing. If enough people were interested maybe they'd be inclined to do this. They were excellent and Nato added some awesome computer effects to the pictures. So how 'bout it fellas?

Joe is a galactic criminal who also happens to be real powerful. However, since his rehabilitation hasn't been "taking" he has been fitted with implants that prevent him from taking any action that has been pre-programmed as evil by the data stored in them. He can't beat information out of a mook. He can't murder. He can't steal. Now, you can trick him with illusions... or he can do something on accident, but you can't Mind Control him into it or anything like that. It's not a matter of his opinion of morality, but if you make a baby look like a seriel killer with an illusion, he can blast it. But you can't just make him blast a baby if he recognizes it as a bab…

I know that there have been countless arguments on the topic of whether mutant power-suppression technology and such actually make sense, if it is truly consistent, just a writers crutch or what have you. I am not interested in that. For the sake of this specific post, let us take it as a given that in this campaign world, any and all "mutant" powers can be deactivated by the use of dampening fields and/or special collars. What is the best in-game mechanic to handle this? 1) Simply use Suppress? - I don't like this option, because for very powerful mutants, it would require HUGE amounts of dice in Suppress to turn off powerful mutants. For every device to b…

Okay I bought the FRED, Champions, and Conquerors, killers & Crooks (CKC). However, I was missing VIPER, until and demon information? Did you dump them completely? You can read about them everywhere in the book, how villains and heroes are hunted by them, but you dont actually include them in the book? Same with the CKC book. Some of the villains i WANT to use, but i actually cant because you havent written down their hunteds. Including at least a little information in the championsbook cant be very hard IMO. So question is: did you forget about including VIPER and UNTIL stats? It seems i have to make the stats for viper and until by myself, or did I miss the…

A very interesting homage to Marvel's Eternals, but sketchy, could have used an example character. Crooks and Crusaders has an example of their evil (Deviant) counterparts the Lemurians. I'm very interested in using the Empyreans, does anyone know of any upcoming plans to detail more information about them? Informed speculation is also welcome.

Any help from the Champions gods on this one? If a character has shrinking and is rather small (say, -10 OCV).. and another hero has targeting sense (hearing) .. I know he doesn't suffer from the PER modifier, but does he have the minus to his OCV? It's ambiguous in the rule book. skaven

I've got a "villain" who i am considering naming Lunatic. He's delusional but he has the power to create the abilities that he would have in a new state of mind. Note that his delusions are complete and he doesn't realize that he isn't who he believes he is. For example, currently in the campaign, he calls himself Timber Wolf, and he believes he is a werewolf. Therefore his power makes him into a werewolf. He becomes bestial with the phases of the moon, he grows claws, his hair becomes unkempt, etc... Now, how do I build this character? Do I build Lunatic and just give him a huge VPP, or do I create Timber Wolf and just know that he is Lunatic and can rebui…

I was flipping through TUV this morning, and realised thet you can get a kick ass power armored type vehicle way cheaper than building a typical power armored character. As GMs, would you allow a TUV PA in a superhero game? Mighytbec

Here is a GM relatively new to this system, but experienced with others, question for you. In your Champions games which Optional Combat rules do you not allow or modify? If possible I’d also like to know why!

All right! Attached is the fruit of all the labor from the "Martial Arts Suggestions" thread. It's a very rough draft. I don't have the book with me, so I'm just guessing the cost of most of the talents (I don't usually buy talents). Feel free to set me straight on the various costs.

Is the official language of Chiquador (Champs Universe) Spanish or Portuguese? The president's name sounds more like Portuguese to me, but his family might have emigrated from Brazil.

While I realize that the Dark Champions releases are a ways in the future, are there any plans for including any of Chris Avelone's outstanding characters from the 4e "Underworld Enemies" book? The Idiot King in particular was a favorite (in my opinion, he was as excellent a villain in his own way as Dr. Destroyer or Mechanon).

As a companion to the motivations thread ("Because I Must!"), here's my take on the classic origin types. Any thoughts or additions? The Mutant: This character was born with powers (or the potential for powers) not native to others of his species at large. The most common explanation is some kind of "x-gene." (Examples: Storm, Cyclops) The Non-Human: This character has powers because it is normal for his species to have powers. "Species" in this sense may be loosely defined ("vampires," for example). The key is that he would be considered a "normal" among his own kind, and other members of his "species" would be expected to have similar powers in similar cir…
