I have a player in my campaign that has built the following power: [6d6 EB, NND (not vs. self-contained breathing), Continous, 0 END] The special effect is that the "hero" causes the enemies shadow to come alive and choke them. I have a problem allowing this power because if the enemies don't have self contained breathing (or they don't hold their breath), this power will continue to drain their stun and there is nothing they can do about it (save losing line of sight or rending the attacking character unconscious or stunned). I feel that the affected character should be able to attack the shadow or somehow make it release it's grip. Or, at the very least, have i…

We've done a lot of "Versus" threads (batman and Cap, Thor and Superman) but as far as pure chracter concepts, what are your top ten favorites? 1) Green (Hal Jordan) Lantern (Chosen Hero) 2) Batman (Self Made Skillmonger) 3) Ironman (Self Made Power Armor) 4) Nova (Chosen... again) 5) Vision (Redeemed Android) 6) Captain America (Chosen Patriot) 7) Spider-Man (Unlikely Hero) 8) Lone Ranger (Reborn Hero) 9) Sandman [Wesley Dodds] (Curious Skillmonger) 10) The Question (Curious Skillmonger)

From the (Marvel) New Universe's PsiHawk (Psi-Force) to the execrable Captain Planet (Turner Cartoon) to the classic Forever People (DC Comics), comics and cartoons have had those rare appearances by a team of Heroes that combine their bodies, energies and powers into a greater and more powerful Hero. With the release of TUV, we were given several different ways to build combining Mecha (and if you haven't bought this fabulous resource, do so today). But what of flesh and blood Heroes that combine to create an Overmind? I personally like the idea of a group each paying part of a Multiform that creates one hero that combines the costs. What are other good ways? …

Several months ago, before the old discussion boards went down, somebody had posted 5th Ed Justice League character write-ups. I can't find them when doing a search, so the old board postings must be lost now. Does anybody have those JLA characters, or are there any websites up with the character interpretations posted? Thanks for your help...

Am I missing something? I've got: Conquerers Killers & Crooks, Champions, & Champions Universe but i can't seem to find stats for Oculon anywhere. Are they in one of these books and I'm just not seeing it? Are they in a yet to be released book? Is the youth I misspent following the Greatful Dead around the contry finally catching up to me? Just wondering...

It's me the idiot newbie again! My question today is for my character with Weather control. I built it with change environment, weather affects, with the +1 variable so I can virtually do anything weather wise and then mega scaled it to cover up to a state in area. Question: Do I need anything else to add to it for damage purposes? Say if I dropped a tornadoe on something or someone or directed lightning at someone or something how much damage would it do? Also; would a tidal wave or earth quake be considered part of that? Just need some basic advice! Thanks in advance!

Of the more than a dozen potential adventure threads I offered them (linked here), the PC's picked the one that's going to have them coming into contact with 2 of the campaign's world-shakers (1278 and 1335), could well involve contact with a powerful superhero team (the PC's are villains), and if they aren't careful in the middle of a 'faction war' between the Nova Warriors (think domestic terrorists with superpowers) and the Defiants Proper (think resistance group with superpowers). I've had to make over 15 character writeups in the last two days, and I've got another 10 to go before 2PM Sunday. Maybe you oughta be wishing *me* luck

This has been brought up before in the old boards, but hey, that was some time ago. Speaking for myself, I don't have Star Hero, yet. It maybe sometime before I can get it. I have Champions Universe, and it does seem to have only 4 or 5 alien races in the Milky Way. I know some folks hate aliens, but I like them. It does feel though, that 'officially' it's being discouraged. I maybe totally misreading that. Yes, we have Ironclad and Firewing, etc. However, in the comic books, you see litterally dozens of alien races of varying tech levels throughout the local galaxy. Here we have ...what five? What are other GM's using for their own settings? What amount per gal…

Having stolen this idea from Mister Vimes, I then asked if he minded me using his name as the distributor/inventor of the drugs in question. Foolishly, he agreed... So, what I need now is a Mister Vimes for my campaign. Currently I am thinking of making him a member of VIPER, who in my campaign are a serious threat (my players are fairly new to Champions, and so don't have the built up image of VIPER as bumbling incompetant fools that longer term Champs players tend to). The other option is to make him a member of Shadow Law, an even more behind the scenes organisation run by the mind controlling Lord Bison. Either way, I'm looking for suggestions as to what to…

Guy with Find Weakness on his gun (4.5d6 RKA) makes it twice and then has trouble hitting villain and resorts to spreading. Maybe it's just me, but I find the concepts of 'hitting just the right spot' and speading (a bullet) to be somewhat incompatible. Your thoughts?

Inspired by the RDU use of the Tekkan background, as well as the Fighting Game world thread in other genres, I thought I'd create stats for M. Bison (of Streetfighter fame) to use as a (relatively minor) master villian in my own Champions game. I'll put the stats first, then follow up with how I plan to use him during the game, and where I see Shadow Law fitting into the Champions Universe (my version thereof). Comments, please - the game I'm planning is run on standard CU guidelines (the Champions are available as possible PCs, and other characters have/are being built to fit in with them power level wise). Bison is designed to be a stiff to losing fight for a …

Okay, class, in Destroy the World 101 we learned all the traditional ways to destroy the world (a really big bomb / laser cannon, earthquake machine, drop an asteroid/comet/the Moon on the planet, release a global disease, cause a new Ice Age, dry up all the water, burn off the atmosphere...the list goes on and on and on). Yawn. Okay, class, for extra credit, describe a way of destroying the world via Utopia! A couple of expalainitory points: 1) By "Utopia", I do not mean the Orwellian variety where Big Brother proclaims a Utopia but without the actual benefits happening. 2) It should be by providing an over-abundance of things that people SAY the…

I have created a villian who based his 'style' on bad melodrama villians. His name is Mister Wicked. Now, the great questions of the moment. 1) I already defined a coil of rope for him as a Entangle, 2d6 2 DEF, OAF (coil of rope, -1), Real Weapion (-1/4). This is enougth to tie up normals. He has no real plans to go after super powered targets. Should I up this amount anyways? 2) How would you build a cloth gag? Images VS Voice? Entangle with the Stops Voice Sence adder? Another way? 3) Would you leave it up to the senerio to give him a near-deathtrap to put the damsel in distress in, or should he have a "deathtrap" VVP? Thank you.

I just picked up Conquerors, Killers and Crooks... And WOW!! The new Doctor is SO much tougher than before. Before he was tough, but none of my players really saw him as a massive threat, but now? Whoa boy. I'm starting a story arc with the good Doctor as the major villian and I can't wait until the big final when the heroes confront him. The first one that underestimates him is in for a BIG suprise. So Steve and Co. good job!! CKC is a great book and all the re-writes are cool. Thanks for all the hard work. 5th is and was worth the wait.

There seems to be a strong feeling that Captain America should be done as a Hollywood comic adaptation. Who would you like to see in the role? For me there is no question that the one man who is perfect for the part is Brendan Frasier.

Champions at war? If and when it all kicks off in the Gulf, how are you going to handle it in your campaign? Are the lads (and lasses) going to enlist? Will the powers that be make them enlist? Will they fight terrorists at home? Will you have them design a "Suicide Squad" to take the War to Saddam? Will you just ignore it? Well, what you gonna do?

Yet another poll! Let's go to the other end of the power spectrum. What about Lee Falk's The Phantom vs. the original 1939 Blue Beetle? Which of these mystery men do you think would come out on top? The Ghost Who Walks is a jungle ruler who has a pair of .45 automatics, jungle-trained reflexes, a faithful dog, limitless wealth, and (at least in the jungle) a network of assistants. Blue Beetle is a promising criminologist who sports a costume of bullet-proof metallic mesh, has the strength and vitality of 10 men thanks to a dose of Formula 2X, and has the scientific assistance of the kindly chemical genius down the street. He rarely carries a gun while in cos…
