Hello Herodom! I'm working on a new organization and was wondering what everyone's opinion is on Contacts within a group. Say you have a high level Viper Agent, should they have Contact: Viper? For that matter, say it's an undercover operative, but still a member (bought Membership), should they have to purchase Contact: Viper? Lastly, using Brick as example, a villain works for Viper here and there, would he have Contact: Viper? in other words, when does a character buy a contact when working with a group or organization? Is it just inferred that someone with Membership basically has a working contact within their organization?

If I build a character who has both Duplication (6e1, p198), and Extradimensional Space (APG II, p27) - presumably each Duplicate and the Original Character (OC) has their own EDS. The EDS is something they can do - no Focus Limitation. Would it be a Limitation, an Advantage, or both for all to *share* the same EDS? This would allow one Duplicate/OC to put something into the EDS, and another Duplicate/OC anywhere could then take that item out. The downside is the EDS isn't "multiplied" by the number of Duplicates...

So I have been adding gear from the Hero System Equipment Guide and quickly noticed that my real point cost wasn't coming out the same as it was in the book when adding firearms. I figured I would just buy the HD Bundle for the equipment guide to avoid a ton of prep. I looked to see where I went wrong with my cost and saw that it was "STR Min. Cannot Add/Subtract Damage" I checked it in my efforts but wasn't checked in the one I bought. Why? I thought that you would check this because your strength doesn't effect how much damage you deal with a firearm. It even says so on page 68 in the equipment guide: "Str minimum: Guns have STR Minima, though since they’re …

It was suggested that maybe we create a thread for new people who are posting and especially for lurkers. So here is what I would like to suggest everyone post as an introduction: How did you come up with your 'handle' (forum name)? What was the first tabletop RPG you played? What was the first tabletop RPG you GMed? What are you currently playing/GMing? I hope this thread gets pinned.

For the life of me, I could have sworn that there was info on minis in one of the 6th ed books, but for the life of me I can't find it. Can someone quote me a page number or a topic here about using minis in combat? I know hexes aren't the normal mode of distance anymore, but how many meters are we now considering in a square/hex/whatever? Are we just bumping it to 2m/measurement on a map? I only ask because I like using minis on a board. Thanks in advance.

My wife is playing a sorceress (Kali) in our Fantasy Hero campaign. Kali has an enchanted staff (OAF) which must be tapped on the ground (Gestures) for a spell to work. When we built the spell, she was always either on foot or on horseback, from both of which she could reach the staff to the ground to activate the spell. Therefore, we didn't take a Limitation "must be able to reach the staff to the ground (-½)." However, in the course of the campaign, she recently acquired a magic necklace that enables her to fly. (We know, and play, that Complications gained during play are not worth any points, but Limitations are a different breed.) Our GM (@nlubofsky2) is on the fence…

I have a villain who can detect vibrations on the ground, using it to 'see' as easily as people use eyes to see. Invisibility (depending on special effects) would be useless because unless you're standing still, the villain could find them and attack. How would you build this? I guess this is like Toph from Avatar: Last Airbender.

So I found myself in need for a creepy UFO in my game. Then lazy me remembered the crashed saucer from the book "Wrath of the Seven Horsemen" YAY pre-generated map. Reading the book I was saddened by the lack of a write-up of any type, other then a few sparse notes. Some of the notes are easer then others to convert, except for one that has stumped me. Now this may be because of the way it was written or the fact I had a stroke a while back ( I'm fine and well on the way to full recovery from the rogue blood clot from appendix surgery ), but anyway. The sentences I'm stuck on are: "Many physical attacks may glance off the hull, due to its slickness. Anyo…

What is the best way that an AI would take over the world? Would they go for the classic Terminator approach or something more subtle? How intelligent should the AI be to even attempt this? What tools would they bring in on their behalf? Anything else that you would like to mention would be appreciated.

Granted, we commonly don't use intermediate values...or use the 1/2d6 values, which are generally listed...but it's straightforward enough. First, this simple method does NOT work for STR < 5, because the general pattern (+5 STR == 2x lift) doesn't hold. STR 0 is 0. Second, there's some tweaks at higher levels of STR. For example, 40 STR is 6.4 tons, 45 STR is 12.5 rather than 12.8. This just cleans up the doubling...12.5 -> 25 -> 50 -> 100 -> .... Nice and clean. So...look up (or compute) the full-die (multiple of 5) value closest to, but below, the STR you're looking at. Call this L. Then, if your STR is 1-4 points hig…

Is there a book for Vehicle rules in 6th edition? I'm having trouble tracking one down. I've been using the 5th edition books (Ultimate Vehicles mostly) to supplement. We are in a game right now that uses a lot of vehicles and I wouldn't mind throwing some money to the company for the resource.

If someone drops or puts something very heavy on a character, how do you determine damage? Let's say a 1 ton vehicle is put on a character who has a 10 Str - not enough to lift it off - what happens? Also, how often does the damage occur?

I’ve been looking over possible combinations of PD/ED and Damage Negation (Stun Only) to try and get a balance that allows a possibility of BODY damage without too frequent stunning results. With a 12d6 attack, the average is 12 BODY and 42 STUN. If I give the character 12 PD, they can ignore the average BODY damage but will likely be stunned. Slightly better rolls will start doing BODY damage. Adding 6d6 of Damage Negation (STUN Only), the average STUN damage drops to 21 and BODY remains at 12. If I raise the PD 25% (to 15), BODY damage still remains likely, and the character will take some STUN damage with each hit. …

Stories abound about heroes performing feats that most people think impossible, even if they are normal humans. They will usually perform these for reasons onto themselves. Cap America is usually said to be the ultimate patriot, Hulk for reasons of simple might challenge, Batman a combination of justice and vengeance, among many other. However, at times heroes will wonder why they are doing this. Spidy is frequently attempting to quit (only to get pulled back), Bats occasionally committed that he has more impact on the economy than the villains. There are other times that such problems occur among other heroes in different stories. Have you ever addressed this issue…

Just wondering if folks here think Champions/HERO would work as a skirmish miniature combat only game? Coming from a Heroclix and Marvel Crisis Protocol background (neither game I liked much) I'm wondering if these rules would work for my needs? Thanks

Hello, most helpful community in the multiverse! Next set of questions for my AI piloted assault robot/power armor... 1. What does having an extra set of limbs with ambidex actually accomplish? What's the benefit? I'm trying to envision how I would use them in combat in particular and what the advantage is. 2. I'd like to add a melee option, that being vibro blades (channeling Robotech here) OR energy blades. I envision the vibro blades actually being retractable physical blades with a power built in. I see swords in the equipment book which could be a start? What Power would I add? Let's say it isn't a physical blade... Could it be a blast po…

Hello! Me again... I'm building an AI controlled assault robot with a 500 pt build. Does anyone have suggestions as to what powers I could use for a sensor array package? Thermal, IR... etc? I'm assuming it wouldn't cost that much, either. It's a robot doing a tactical scan of the area, is the flavor I'm after and not too long range... let's say a 1/2 mile since these rules are so specific. My other questions is, could I tap the Equipment book to tackle this instead of trying to find the correct Power to accomplish it?

I want my character to have a Dependence, and I wondered if the Effect could be stacking Unluck? So every time period without the substance the character gets more unluck. Or maybe I should just buy Unluck with a Limitation, only after time without the substance? Probably a -1.

So here I am again with another strange question: Still converting 3 edition characters and a special effect has stumped me. "Vulnerability to Cosmic/Primal Energies". Would a Solar Flare special effect count? I am literally at the coin-flip decision stage. Plot wise is irrelevant as this game is "Mostly episodic, with some continuing stories". We're just to pass time between D&D campaigns. DM is working out of area for a few more months with no internet access.

I'd like a power to require TWO people to take a full phase to begin. Is this an advantage or limitation? Context: The hero was created by a very paranoid group. What if we make this powerful hero and they turn into a villain? So they built some disadvantages into the hero. One, they are vulnerable to Green Argonite. Second they have a DNPC. It's a cop that follows them around, just keeping an eye on the hero and never providing support. If the cop suspects the hero has turned, even if due to mind control, they are to use a gadget to Transform weapons and such into Green Argonite. But the group is paranoid; what if the cop turns crooked and betrays the innocen…

Adventuring is a tough and difficult life for those who desire to take that way. Frequently things will take a turn against the hero and they have a great possibility of death. When that happens, can they be resurrected? If yes, what is the method - tech/magic/other? What is the price for being brought back? Are they fully healed or still need healing? Is there a limit to resurrection? Any other problems with this?

Could someone give me a hand with at least getting started with creating an alien sentient "robot" in a exo-skeleton/power armor? I have a 500 point build for this campaign we are starting. I am familiar with Champions but haven't looked at the books in 30+ years. I do have Champions Complete, Powers & Vehicles. I'm just not seeing anything that is straightforward in terms of creating the power armor. I can handle the powers (energy beams, etc). I just need some help with the armor. Vehicles has rules for Mecha, but that's not what I'm looking for. Any/all help is appreciated!

Hope this doesn't fall in the "well, duh" category....and also forgive me int hat I'm really just familiar with 4th edition...but when you buy Flight, do you automatically get "x2" non combat movement for free? I originally thought it had to be purchased, but in character write ups I usually only see non combat move if it's x4 or greated Have a great Easter all!
