I'm building a character for a new player, and she wants her character to be a FBI forensic investigator, and I'm working on a list of skills for the character. Only trouble is I know next to nothing about forensics. The basic skills are easy, but I would like to add more depth to her skill set. Right now I have the following skills for her... Analyze - forensic evidence criminology cryptogrophy deduction forensic medicine Science Skill - forensic science I'm sure there should be more science based skills if anyone can make any suggestions I would certainly appreciate it.

I decided to start stating out Benton's famous son. Now beyond the blurb on him from Super Agents, and my own semi-silly desire to label his Martial Arts "Stuff Race taught me", I'm wondering at some of my choices. I'd like to get some feedback. Would Johnny follow in the footsteps of his distinguished father and demonstrate the kind of scientific acumen that would make even Reed Richards take notice? Or did the lifetime of adventure and travelling just give him a wealth of esoteric knowledge and contacts out the wazoo? Part of my questioning is who is credited with Questonite? I know I've seen it's atribution somewhere, but now that I'm actively looking for it, of …

I have never had any invisible characters in my games, but I am looking into it now. Do people normally consider invisibility to be a defense in and of itself? Or is it customary to still pack on the PD and ED?

Another ENWorld Chicago Gameday is coming up (tentatively scheduled for 10/16), and I plan to run a newbie-friendly Sidekick game loosely based on the WB's Smallville. Set in a small farm town, the PCs will all be teens with special abilities, a la Clark, though not quite as powerful. I want to keep things simple and straightforward so as not to overwhelm players who've never played HERO before. E.g., the Clark analogue will basically be strong and damage resistant, and that's it. Then maybe we'll have the telepathic reporter for the school paper, the angsty kid who's Batman-in-training, "Kid Flash" the track star, and so on. So, given these parameters, what kin…

Enforcer84's long-running "Hero a Day" thread is pretty cool. It features complete write-ups for a variety of characters. Well, lately I've been having a major creative spurt in regard to CHAMPIONS - namely, I've been thinking up tons of characters, both heroes and villains. Some are characters I'd like to play as PCs someday, others are potential NPC heroes, and many are villains. The problem is, by and large these characters would be pretty extraneous in my current online champion (the high-powered New Sentinels campaign). Which is a shame, in my opinion. I think (hope?) these characters are good enough to see the light of day. Thus, this thread.I don't know if I'…

I have no idea how to do the math on this, so I'm asking here, since there's a lotta smart people around. On any number of (six-sided) dice from 2 to 6, what are the odds of rolling *at least* one six? The total number of sixes doesn't matter, so long as there's one. (And since I'm not sure I said it right, I was wanting probabilities for 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 dice). Rep and big thanks to anybody who can help me with this.

Your character has been asked by a teammate or friend what sort of funeral arrangements they want, should the worst occur. "But I'm immortal." "Just in case, okay?" So, what sort of sendoff would your character like to have (and what's likely to happen instead?)

Idle curiousity....but does anyone have a good index of the many heroes, villains, organizations, and others from 4th edition so we can keep tabs on whose alive / whose dead / whose no longer / and who might be in 5th?

Just a simple question. Which version of the Hulk do you like better 1)Hulk Smash: The ever popular all brawns and no brain? 2)Joe Fixit: Grey skinned and all attitude 3) Honey, I'm Home: a.k.a Banner's Mind in the Hulks body 4) Other

Do you guys think an END drain as a characters ONLY attack power is a viable concept? And if so, which would be more fun? You're all tired out dude! 6d6 End drain. Or Something is wrong, very wrong 2D6 end drain (average of 14 END per hit) ranged, area effect one hex, fully invisible power effects. The first one is obviously massively effective in taking down any END based character without power defense. While the second one is a different approach, being a one hex invisible power it is for all practical purposes an always hit power, and the targets will have no idea what is happening except that they seem to be running out of steam far too quic…

I'm curious to see if anyone has made characters or a campaign based on Neil Gaiman's 1602. I'm in the midst of reading the hardcover of it right now and it makes for a much better heroic roleplaying setting than I would have imagined. Of course, part of the charm is spotting your favorite Marvel Superheroes. (Can't believe I didn't pick up on Captain America until he brandished a shield!) But I was wondering if anyone had made the 1602 versions of Dr. Stephen Strange, Sir Nicholas Fury, Otto Von Doom, Peter Parquais, or any of the other quasi-marvel characters yet. I'm not sure I have enough historical knowledge to maintain such a setting. But I'm curious t…

So, who has it? Are you going to convert the stuff in it over to Hero? And do you think that if this product sells well enough that GoO will get the mainstream DC liscence?

I as thinking last night, instead of group of bad teen-agers to battle the Ravenwoods students what if there was a rival school. Lets say White's Military Academy. While the school has normal cadets learning there, it also has a special team of cadets with powers. This other team may even be shade of grey but not really evil. Conflicts can arise when both team are trying to deal with the same problem or meeting each other at the mall. Comments? G

'Cos one of the Champions Universe's greatest heroes. Amazing Man (II) of the Sentinels is about to get hitched to Electron, the gadgeteer heroine of the Justice Squadron. Nuptials will take place as part of the superhero wedding scenario in the pages of Villainy Amok. What I need from you are... wedding gifts from your PCs (if it's in character for you to send gifts to a wedding for two of the members of the premier superhero teams on Earth). Also, someone's mentally commanding Earth's supervillains to attack the wedding, so if there are some people from CKC or Champions 5e who'd you really like to see crash the wedding or try to pull some special plan during the ce…

Okay, since Champions and CKC have come out in 2002 we've had CU, Millennium City, UMA, HUV, G&G, USPD, Mystic World, Arcane Adversaries, DEMON, UB, U:DOF, V:COS, DC:HOV, and will soon be graced with Vibora bay and the Ultimate Mystic (and then Mentalist) Given the plethora of new information...pluse a few sample characters and updates... How do you think our friends and foes have changed in the last two years? Let's Start with the easy stuff: The Champions: (How much XP does one earn in 2 years?) Defender now can look to Gadgets and Gear Ironclad can look to The Ultimate Brick and the USPD Witchcraft can look to the Mystic World and later The Ult…

Is there a list anywhere of the companies mentioned to exist in the CU? I know Viper has a couple fronts, and Bio-Investigations Ltd (from Shrinker's origin), what else do we have?

One of the things I like about 5th Edition is the little power names ... instead of just using your 'Armor Piercing Blast', you have the 'Focussed Beam' or even 'Eldritch Crystal Attack'. It's just nifty to me ... so I'm wondering what the favorite little power-name you've put on a character sheet ... whether it was just dripping style, a horrible pun, or just something you couldn't resist stealing. So far, mine is for the character I named my forum name after, who has a VPP Gadget Pool called 'THIS is my BOOMSTICK'!

Need help with character::Strega

I have a character named Strega who is an Italian stage mage. The basic idea I'm working with is that she's a Gypsy (is there such a thing as an Italian gypsy?) in a world where magic has been around for quite awhile and super humans are becoming a reality. The thing is, Gypsies have known about super powered beings for generations. However, the gift that lets you cast real magic is no more common among Gypsies than it is anywhere else (its very rare). Gypsies have considered their knowledge of super powered beings (such as vampires and werewolves) to impose on them a requirement to do something about these evils. They've learned to use stage magic as a weapon. Th…

So, preliminary to the inevitable poll, who do you think is the most unstoppable badass fighter in manga? Is it Kenshiro (Hokuto no Ken), master of the decapitating autofire martial arts? Is it Goku (DBZ), super saiyajin and all that? Is it Gally/Alita (Gunm/Battle Angel Alita) Cyborg master of Panzer Kunst? Is it KotatsuNeko (Urusei Yatsura) Huge ghost cat with incredible strength? Is it Saotome Ranma (Ranma1/2), cursed Boy/Girl, heir to a dubious school of martial arts? Is it Sawamura "Mad Dog" Seiji (Midori no Hibi), best fighter in town, owner of 'the devil's right hand' whenever there isn't a little girl attached to it. (probably not) …

Ultimate Wonder Twins 1 2

They're the fresh-faced purple aliens you love to hate: Zan and Jayna, the Wonder Twins! So here's the situation: You're a lowly assistant copy editor at DC who has just been promoted to author of her own mini-series, The Ultimate Wonder Twins (name tentative -ed.). Your job is to revamp the "popular" brother and sister from the old SuperFriends cartoon, bring them into the 21st century, and, above all, compete in the market that Marvel and Image are staking a claim to. The sky is the limit: keep them goofy, make then cold-blooded killers, keep their goofy animal-water powers, rewrite the powers entirely -- you have free reign to do whatever you want to do with the t…

I'm working on a fictional city for Champions. The backhistory is still relatively unformed, but it is based on this: A group of super heroes served bravely for over a decade, defending the nation etc. They began to get a bit long in the tooth (as super heroes go) and decided to retire. One of their last acts was to save a Governor, who told them once "if there is any thing I can do to repay you". While they normally declined rewards, they did ask a favor in. The team purchased (at good rates) a sizable piece of land to build their dream homes away from the world, for the safety of themselves, their children, and any friends who wanted to join them. Heroes being…

What it says. Take a moment to think about the numerous characters that have been presented in the published HERO/Champions products. I'm mostly thinking 5E here, but if there are special favorites from earlier versions of the game, they're open for discussion too. The point is, which of those characters would you absolutely love to have your character(s) fight, and why? Maybe you just think it would be a really fun encounter, or maybe you'd find the opponent particularly challenging, or maybe you see great RP potential there, or whatever. I guess something like "I'd like to have Punisher-X mow down CLOWN because they suck" is okay, but I'm hoping to generate …
