Hello again, denizens of the Fantasy Hero forums. Like many others I am sure, I have gotten quite restless during the events related to COVID and have undertaken a number of projects to assuage my boredom. This sent me down an odd path that eventually led to me finding a Creative Commons adventure that was written in Spanish and I decided to give a shot at translating it. I am not a Spanish speaker (aside from polite phrases and the ability to order basic beer and food) so I used a variety of online translations along with context from within the adventure itself to accomplish this. Anyway, I wanted to share the result with you all. It is somewhat tongue in c…

Where exactly is the vitals location on the hit location chart? Is it the throat, heart or brain?

So I have downloaded GIMP and started playing around with some battlemaps for virtual tabletop use. I have not done any design like this in a long time. I don't claim to be a great artist, but I like to make things nice enough to allow easy suspension of disbelief for the players. As such, I would like to know if other do their own battle maps, make do without any, use those that others have made or some other solution? If you make your own, what do you use? Here is my first attempt, it's a cavern setting that will probably end up being a 2 session thing because of the number of encounters unless the players are very clever or very sneaky. It's set right now f…

I wanted to ask the community in Fantasy Hero do your players ever Block. My group is relatively new and some are min/max players and they don't use Block. They see it more of burn down the opponent before they burn them down. Am I missing something? Is this what happens in your campaign? Have you House Ruled it to make it more compelling? It may just be my group or something I am missing. Thank you in advance for the help.

I am sure you have all seen this. Everyone of my players is a weapon master. I find it unrealistic, but don’t want to totally outlaw it. We use hit locations, impairments, criticals and bleeding rules in our game. I was thinking of having the complete a certain amount of criticals and or impairments to qualify. I would appreciate your thoughts on what you have done in your games.

In Dark Champions they have a fun little super-skill/talent called the above (I believe, my brain is half froze from work). It basically gives extra STR with the limitation of only to help with the STR min of firearms. Has anyone else ported this over to Fantasy Hero? Or even played around with other little talent/feats for people to use? +xx runnning, only vs Armor Enc. +xx end, only to cast spells (or even extra ego or int) +xx dex/acrobatics, only walking on ledges I worked up a combination of PSLs and Movement to create Armor "feats" for Light/Medium/Heavy Armor. Also a few to help mages along, mainly Naked…

I am looking for a race and enemy for my new campaign. I don't want it to be something my group has seen before. I want to create something and get some help from all you devious GM's. So far the race is using demons for power and can summon them. I have the Old One's in my campaign, thus a little Cthulu thrown in. The groups overall plan is to bring about destruction upon the world through driving a star into the planet. This star is from a demonic plane and thus brings much needed chaos energy to the world. Obviously very intelligent, but chaotic enough to leave openings for the players. Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated. A picture would be …

My players are starting to use sectional armor. Does anyone have a humanoid body location picture with the various HERO Hit Locations Boxed out. I was looking for a good image to modify, but my editing skills on something like this are lacking. I was hoping to find something with Head, Shoulder, Arm, Hand, Chest, Stomach, Vitals, Thigh, Leg and Foot. Thank you in advance.

Hello hero friends ! I was wondering one thing. In one of my last Fantasy session, A character in my campaign tried to pass surveillance in a port guarded by five experienced and strong knights ... I'll spare you the details it was night with a little moonlighting. I tell the player (13 in stealth) to pass these five knights and make point A to B is a difficult maneuver -2 but it is a favorable context given the darkness so +2 (Still 13 in stealth) my question. If the player in question has the +2 to the Stealth for the night condition, the rule also says that if the Knights also have a -2 on their sight check given the night. How would you interpret the sit…

I am toying with playing the backstory to my campaign which is basically the Bronze Age time of myth and legend. I am interested in a time when an Articifer develops steel weapons and armour (magical process) (straight to quenched weapons here) I know Bronze is softer than steel but not sure what it's hero stats are? Is bronze armour less effective against steel weapons? Do Bronze weapons have less def or what? How would you build the difference?

Hi all. When does a piece of equipment generally need to be paid for in a Fantasy Hero setting? I’m putting together my game word and want to do it right is it relative to starting character power level? Can I have a powerful character find an item, powerful or otherwise, without paying for it?

Hi, I've recently spread my wings from Champions to Fantasy Hero and inspired by "The Last Kingdom", I feel inspired to do a low/semi-epic fantasy set in a divided land (although more later medieval rather than Saxon period). Most of the setting information I've seen available is for High Fantasy campaigns, not for low fantasy and I would welcome thoughts on creating one. I would particularly welcome thoughts on low power/subtle magic systems, which would mostly be employed by NPCs.

Many years ago I bought Ptolus and my group really wasn't into it. The DnD version just didn't strike them as they couldn't do "what they wanted" with the classes, spells and story etc. My group is really about having the mechanics support the roleplaying they do. So I started a new campaign and decided Ptolus Fantasy Hero Version would be the meal. They are so in love with it and have really went crazy with Hero and Ptolus. One is a rogueish type with decent skills and got his first follower. He runs atop the rooftops and is a half-elf who only needs to sleep 3 hours a day. He is super active and came from the Warrens (a slum type district). …

I've played in a few campaigns over the decades where the DM made every session a nail-biting near-death experience. Over time the players can become fatigued and demoralized as their cherished characters nearly die again and again. Nihilism can set in or sometimes players will skip a week purely to catch a breather from the action. It's important to let the characters (and their players) catch their breath, feel heroic or simply experience how powerful they've become over the course of a campaign. It's like a palate cleanser. It resets the taste buds for the next delicious adventure. When I was taking my Saturday table through War for the …

A player is making a Troll character that can have a +35 STR. He moved it to 35, thus giving him 7D6 damage and also 7 END each punch. He was wondering if there is anyway to limit this END cost? It is naked STR and not bought as a Power. I told him I didn't think so, but thought I would ask the forum.

The Necromancer in our group has created a Vampire and is looking create some Skeletons. We are using the rules as written in the 6th edition Grimoire. We got to talking about how many you can have and how long they last and if you have to control them. There is no control required but my take on it is that the cost of goods and not really being able to actively use all of them is kind of the limiting factor. If you decide to create 1000 skeletons (which is a spell) you have to have 1000 sets of bones and then what do you do with them. It is the same concept with the Vampire spell as there is an option to create 16, but you have to have caskets, places to …

I am relatively new to Hero. I have been running many RPG's for 40+ years and recognize min/maxers and power creeps. My players are masters as I am sure yours are as well. My question for Fantasy Hero is do you limit CSL's? My players have figured out that if they buy 3 pt CSL's and not OCV/DCV straight up they save points. I don't want to punish them, but they are running around with 12 levels of these. Any thoughts or experiences would be helpful.

Players are descending into a hellspawned pit. They are climbing down with ropes and a demon has been summoned and inhabits this place. I am looking for some dark descriptions that will emote fear and terror as they descend. Thanks in advance.
