Does anyone here know of any examples of non-gnomes being raised by gnomes? I have a character concept in mind, but I'd like to gather some insight first before putting graphite to paper.

I have found that Fantasy Hero character's (especially in high magic campaigns) have a tendency to become much tougher than Superhero character's do as the campaigns go on.

What is the average CV in your campaign of PCs and NPCs? I thought I had a decent idea from the Bestiary but then looking at the complete fantasy extras, all the characters and monsters seem to have a fairly 'high' CV. Is the Bestiary just low, especially humanoids? Does CF have a power creep?

Yes, this is probably in poor taste, but we each deal with crazy situations in our own way... and inspiration is not always appropriate The Anchorman straightened his tie, "We now turn to Holly Winger, our reporter on the street and in the fringes for our 'Isn't that odd?' news Segment" Mostly he was just glad some peon was going to be doing a fluff piece while he got to finish his coffee.. The camera zoomed in on a reporter in her mid twenties who looked a bit sweaty despite the attempts to touch things up, "Hi, I'm here in front of the scene of a very unusual crime. This liquor bottling factory , closed for the weekend, was broken into, and just …

So, one thing I DON'T like about HERO is that, while the power system is great for interacting with other powers, there is not a lot of guidance for how it interacts with the environment. For example, I want to create a spell that allows a character to escape entangles and open locks and bindings. I am thinking a cumulative Dispel with Variable Effect. However, how may AP does a lock have? If the character wants to use it on a chest in a dungeon, how many times should they cast it? Who knows??? The same problem exists for spells to put out a fire or melt a block of ice... ;( I know there are some rules for fire in the back o…

So I picked up a copy of Narosia last night and its really cool. However, I was wondering if there was errata for it as I noticed some issues (specifically the point costs of the Heroic Talents which almost always seemed to be 6 no matter what the AP or limitations actually were)? @Legendsmiths

Background: In my current Fantasy campaign, most artisans in the city of Thalassene belong to guilds: the cobbler’s guild, the silk-weaver’s guild, the papermaker and printer’s guild, and so on. (There are also guilds for professions such as doctors, lawyers and bankers.) But some crafts are too small to have guilds. There just aren’t enough artisans to make it worthwhile. These are locally called “oddmongers.” And just as most of the big-time jewelers cluster around Gold Court and most undertakers are on Coffin Street, the oddmongers have a neighborhood of their own called, naturally, Oddmonger. This is where the PCs are based, so I’m developing the neighborh…

A new campaign I'm about to start has the evil nation next door relying heavily on skeleton labour, both as menial labour and cannon fodder for the armies of darkness. I haven't really fleshed out the economics. (There's a skeleton/zombie gag in there somewhere.) So I thought I might do so here and get any feedback and suggestions people might have. Kemet (The Black Land) Why yes, I have decided to make the necromantic kingdom fantasy Egypt. Think a wide, terrible desert with one life-giving river flowing through it. There's still plenty of live subjects in the kingdom. They still carry out some of the menial work. But I see most of…

In Hero 6th Edition does a character get any points for having Characteristic Point Limitations. For example, a standard human has a STR Max of 20, but if there was a character race that had a STR Max of 15, would that character get any points for it.

Hello, all. I've been GMing a group for the past 2 years playing 5th edition D&D but we've decided to jump over to 6e Hero. I have never run Hero before and I am trying to decide between running the game with heroic 225 pts and a 40 AP limit or superheroic with 400 pts and a 60 AP limit. We are reimagining the players' characters in Hero so I'm not looking for conversions like what's on Killer Shrike's site, I'm more curious about maintaining a similar feel in terms of power level as well as manageable combat times. We played from 3rd level to 12th level but started running into the normal problems that occur with high level D&D characters. The player run…

I have Fantasy Hero Complete. What material is in Fantasy Hero for 6th edition that I would be missing out on?

I know I saw the 'Spell' Limitation for FH spells, and IIRC it prevents spreading, and possibly bouncing the attack. But now I cannot find it. Can someone clue me into the right book and page where I saw this? Thanks!

I've never had any trouble separating DCV, PD and rPD, but some of my players are tripping over the overlapping terms. Something I've found helpful: OCV changed to Offense DCV changed to Defense PD changed to Physical Resistance (PR) rPD changed to Armor - Players understand intuitively that body armor prevents lethal damage. I miss the Armor power from earlier editions. Yes, it overlapped resistant defense, but it was easily understood by the players. Have you found any terminology / jargon changes that made the game easier for your players?

I'm designing a magic system (fairly standard suff; no frameworks, foci, gestures, incantations, etc) and spells are coming in around 12 real cost on average, all in. Some magic systems (like The Turakian Age) will take that real cost and divide it by some number, let's say 3. I honestly cannot decide if I want to do this or not, I'm of two minds on the subject. Part of me says not to do it because magic is potent and someone who can shoot fireballs at will shouldn't get a point break for it. On the opposite side, I feel like spells may be a bit too expensive and spellcasters will end up feeling shallow compared to the source material as a result. …

So you start your 75+75 FH characters in a campaign that goes for awhile. How do things change 50, 75, 100 cp down the road? How do they look when they start getting magic items? I'm curious because I'm trying to parse out in my mind the progression curve of a FH "Epic Fantasy" campaign (ala DNDish, with lots of monster killing and treasure finding). How do NPCs challenge PCs without constantly adding to their found treasure pile (a problem in most games that have magic items and NPCs statted the same as PCs). Like, the abstration in D&D allows for a character to at high levels surivive a battle with a big monster. But HERO feels more like no matter how to…

So, ever since 5th edition came out, these two talents have made me feel a bit... hesitant. One the hand, they are really cool and can make a character feel really powerful. On the other, it seems like the extra die could make damage get way higher than denseness can keep up with (especially stun). Am I over thinking this? Is it game breaking? Does someone slinging around a 4d6ka (greatsword, deadlyblow, plus some MA/skill levels)versus someone who has 'at best' 8PD + 11rPD (plate armor and combat luck) not just win if they hit (average damage of 14 Body and 42 Stun guarantees you Stun the target when you hit it)? Does it make two handed weapons …

I could have sworn I've seen a str chart for fantasy hero where the weight limits were lower to be more 'realistic'. Am I imagining things? Was this some house rule on a website?

I'm always interested in new magic systems. We have the ones in the FH book, TA, VA, AA, and TM. We have KillerShrike's amazing resource. What about you? Do you have a custom rules system for magic? How do you handle powers in your settings?

Over the last couple of years we've struggled to find the right balance for Entangle in Heroic campaigns where a called shot to the head an almost guaranteed victory (x5 STUN on kill attacks). The problem scenario is basically a low power Entangle with the "takes no damage from attacks" advantage which renders the target utterly helpless until their Phase comes up. The current version we're working with: 1- Entangles with the "takes no damage from attacks" advantage only reduce targets to 1/2 DCV. 2- Standard Entangles reduce targets to 0 DCV. 3- If you are entangled you may Abort your next phase to attempt to break out. …

I'm going a bit crazy here. I know I've seen a talent which was essentially +X Str, only for Bow Str Minimum. But I can't see it anywhere in the books. Anyone know what I'm thinking of and where it came from?
