The original topic about rebuilding the Guardians is now archived and cannot be commented on, but you can find it here. We went through and tried to rebuild a few of the characters from what we knew, and managed to get a few done. Because some of the original Champions players who created the Guardians are now playtesting a new Superhero game called Prowlers and Paragons, and they have printed versions of their first characters in that game set, I've gotten an insight into some of the missing ones. So far, only Dove, Marksman, and Goliath have been posted, but they were missing from our data to recreate them in the other thread. Here's what I came up with f…

I think there's a fair amount of interest in seeing old, out-of-print Champions adventures being re-released in 6th edition with some new art, updating to modern day, etc. These are from adventures that I own, there are others which people might want to see rebooted. I don't want to redo To Serve and Protect personally, I think that should be done by Scott Heine.

So you have a PC who's dealing with supervillains -- and maybe superheroes -- all on their own. Assuming we don't power things down, would more starting points be warranted? And how much?

Coastal City is in Washington County, Rhode Island with Coastal City Bay an offshoot of Narragansett Bay. The two main institutes of higher education are the University of Rhode Island Graduate School of Oceanography (which also has courses in ship handling and marine law), and Coastal City University (a small university). There is also a branch of Washington County’s community college. Both Coastal City University and the community college branch are near the Coastal City Medical Center. The two largest houses of worship are Tree of Life Congregation (Conservative Judaism) and Saint Michael’s Church (Roman Catholic). On the synagogue’s gr…

Having a cape is a cool style, but it also offers a vulnerability to getting it grabbed. How might that work in combat? Perhaps long hair might also offer some kind of vulnerability like this?

The Mobius from the 4E book Mystic Masters is a pretty cool place. I'm thinking of updating it and turning it into something like The House of Mystery from DC Comics. Any ideas?

OK I have started to convert old adventures printed in previous magazines etc. They just need a bit of updating to modern tech and culture, a bit of converting to 6th edition, some bits of added info, and illustrations. They don't take long to do, the art will be the slow part, but the conversions are pretty simple. I plan on releasing these as "Champions Classics" for cheap if it all works out. We get a few dozen of these things out on the internet and no GM has an excuse for not having anything to run!

So I was looking over the Champions Begins product and I noticed that the only HD files are the villains. Are there any files for the Hero in the Hero book part?

I just watched the first two (and as far as I'm concerned, the only two 🤨) Terminator movies with my son, who's getting into Hero System. Naturally, we got to thinking about how many points we'd need to create the two baddies: the T-101 and the T-1000. I figured I'd come on here and find that someone in the community had already done the work of making these characters in Hero System 6E, especially since the T-1000 is actually a pretty complex build. But I can't find them! How can that be?

CGoodwin recently asked me about the referee binder I'm using for our Champions game. I don't remember where I stole this idea from, and I can't find the blog post anymore. It was certainly 2017 or so. I've got a three ring binder, with section dividers. Here's the outline I. Referee's section. A. The PCs. My copy B. The Game World. : My Referee information about the game world. A list of all Persons, Places, and Things we've added to the world. The players get a (redacted) copy in their section. C. The Adventures 1. The current adventure 2. The archive of previous adventures D. Plots. Future adv…

I'm doing a rewrite of What Rough Beast, which is set in the ruins of a Genocide base. I don't pay close attention to the Champions Universe, since I ran my own setting so I don't know what happened to Genocide. Where did they go, what happened to them in the CU?

So, a few years ago, we got together and worked on a project that eventually became Champions Begins. This has been a very successful and well-regarded product for Hero, and as it is free, its helping a lot of people learn how to play the game. I am particularly proud how everyone came together with suggestions, tips, ideas, editing, art, etc. Well I want to do that again, but this time we're taking it a step up. The next project will be Baby's First Campaign for Champions, a premade adventure story starting with the group gathering and ending with a big fight to stop the main bad guy. In between will be several chained adventures and several drop-in ones,…

Never bring a gun to a swordfight. Don't fly higher than you can fall. Terminal velocity is your friend. Growth is the amazing power to make yourself an easy target. Never call someone "dead" until you finish the autopsy. Being dead doesn't necessarily stop people from making trouble There is no idea so stupid that it can't be used to hurt people. You can't mass produce awesome. Always make your capes detachable. Always know which walls are load-bearing.

This week's award goes to Chris, for: "In my experience, Neanderthals *always* attack aliens." This replaces the previous title-holder, from Jason: "I made my INT roll, and I've decided to do it anyway." dw

In a Champions superhero campaign, I was once surprised at the way Dodge and Dive for Cover were ruled by the Game Master. At the start of the fight, a bad guy threw a pellet at me. I aborted to a Dodge...whereupon it was revealed that the attack was a one-hex AoE. So I was automatically affected (once the villain hit their hex) AND, having aborted, lost my next phase. The GM said that the special effect of the attack was ambiguous, and, never having encountered it before, my character would not have known it was AoE. GM has final say, of course. And I like this GM, so I am not complaining, but seeking to understand. Bu…

Been trying to mull this over for awhile and figure out. The tendrils/grab is the easy part. The being nested is what's getting to me... paralysis?

The Gods Celestial are briefly mentioned in Galactic Champions (hey, they have the same initials!) as mysterious entities who are powerful beyond measure and hold the status of gods worshipped by the gods themselves. I find the concept of such entities very intriguing and, to make it even more tantalizing, we get all of two paragraphs vaguely describing them on page 122 of GC. Presumably, the idea behind this ambiguity was to give players the explicit freedom to shape the Gods Celestial as they see fit to suit their own campaigns. It's one of those "something that's there if you want to use it" pieces of lore that also adds a layer of mystery to the cosmology of the CU. …
