Hi. Keith Curtis sent this to me and I thouhgt that I'd post it. (Thanks Keith!) If you're SOB preview map looks bad -- here's what you need to do. In Acrobat 5 (I am not sure if this works in 4 or not). Go to Preferences and then to Display. About 1/2 way down, you'll see "Smoothing". Make sure that Use CoolType is on and also check the "Smooth Line Art" box. That should fix any display problems you might be having. In the final release of SOB, I'll try and see if I can save this preference "on". Thanks -- Andy Mathews Art Director, Hero Games

I'm trying to create a character who has endless eyebeams like Cyclops, except he can modulate and focus the ray to accomplish several effects (an attack multipower). How would I create such a power?

Okay, Destroyer takes out Detroit in 92' and makes it look like he was killed as well. Officially, he has returned with a vengeance; the whole 'death' a ruse. BUT... what if he had bit it? What if he miscalculated? What if some hero nearby sensed him about to teleport away and held on for dear live to disrupt Destroyer's escape? Who would be top dog villain then? Who would be heading the list for UNTIL? Which mastermind would be closest to conquering the planet? Who would make superheroes in the CU gulp at the mention of their name? So put in your opinion for the runner up who would be king, if Dr. D was D-ceased

For all those world creators out there, how do you come up with names for cities? Do you try to just come up with something that sounds good, or do you come up with a generic 'non-real world' name (IE: Star City, Central City, Coast City, Gotham City, Metropolis, etc)? If you had to rename Detroit after the catastrophe, how would you go about doing it? Just idle curiosity on my part, I'd be interested in hearing the thought processes of other world creators.

I'm fiddling with the Random Character Generator from Champions. I have made this guy/gal here. I kind of like the abilities, but I cannot get a theme going in my head. The possible campagin is a superheroic level fantasy world. here is what he looks like:Player: Val Char Cost 21 STR 11 29 DEX 57 26 CON 32 13 BODY 6 23 INT 13 16 EGO 12 10 PRE 0 13 COM 2 10 PD 6 10 ED 5 6 SPD 21 13 REC 8 52 END 0 37 STUN 0 6" RUN02" SWIM04" LEAP0Characteristics Cost: 173Cost Power END 75 Multipower, 75-point reserve 7u 1) Energy Blast 10d6 (vs. ED), Reduced Endurance 0 END (+1/2) (75 Active Points) 7u 2) Energy Blast 10d6 (vs. ED), …

Hi, About a year ago one of my players got me in to using miniatures while gaming and now I'm hooked. I was at a gaming store the other day and I saw a model of a dungeon - one that you could modify the different sections as needed - and I thought that was the coolest thing I had ever seen. Does anyone know of anything like that for a modern setting? Thanks for any direction. -Hawkfu

I'm dreaming up a campaign setting and have come up with a set of limitations for character generation that I think would work out. Taking a look around I see there are a few threads already where people have generated characters, so I'd like to do the same here. If you want to make this a "challenge" format, that's fine with me, but all ideas are welcome. Also, if you have suggestions as regards to playbalancing aspects of the character ability guidelines, let me know -- it's more-or-less a scaled down version of the low-powered superhero guidelines with some additional restrictions to encourage rounded PCs and keep the threat level posed by normal weapons fairly high. …

How would you describe the power that Professor X manifested in X2 where he made everyone freeze except the mutants?

One of my players wants to be a ghost who is searching for the person who killed him, as well as bring evildoers to justice as a "superhero". I've got some ideas as to how to deal w/a character like this, but I would like your input as well. His character concept is that he will be permanently Desolid and will have in array of Telekinetic abilities to affect the material world with. I'm still a little leery of that, but I'm not ready to squash it yet-his backstory is pretty good and he's a good roleplayer in general. Your thoughts, please? How would you deal with a character like this in your game?

Okay, I am struggling here. I am not near my Champions stuff, any good organizations out there in CU that would want to recruit/create "ninja" style assassins? I'd like someone other than VIPER.

What if you find a character in a villain supplement that you especially like, but who you think would be even cooler as a hero than as a villain? Several characters from CKC come to mind. I'm surprised nobody has ever run Foxbat, for example, as a loony superhero rather than a loony supervillain. instead of constantly losing by overraching himself, he constantly wins by sheer luck (and his Rouge's Gallery is equally wacky except for one ultra-serious Dark Foxbiat-type who is deadly serious, ultra-competent, and does not hesistate to kill heroes if it suits his purposes). I also wonder if it is possible to create new superheores by working from the stats of a mf…

I was thinking of doing a character based on DC Comics' Hourman character. For those of you not familiar with him, Rex Tyler took a formula of his own devising called Miraclo, which gave him super-human strength, speed, stamina, senses, and toughness. All for exactly one hour. He could only take the pill once a day. So, all powers usuable for only 1 hour from time of activation. Can only be activated once per day. What level of limitation would you, as a GM, give that? 1/4, 1/2, 1, 2, or more? Just curious.

I'm lazy. That says it all. But have any of you used an Organization Template or some such for the campaign specific Organizations you have created? I come up with good (at least I think they're pretty good) then I find a few months down the road that I have a couple of character write ups and a name but nothing else. I want to actually get somewhere with a new campaign world pretty soon.

I got this idea from two different sources: "The One" starring Jet Li. The annual, Pre-Crisis, JLA/JSA Team-Up. The Destroyer of an alternate reality, having killed his Earth's Champions and conquered the globe, Is trying to now conquer his whole universe. But, he doesn't have enough power. So, he sets about using both magic and science to try and find another power source. He discovers other universes. Destroyer then contacts the Dr. Destroyer of one of these other Earths, and offers him help in defeating that world's Champions, in exchange for his loyalty. Dr. Destroyer says no, and attacks, claiming that he follows no one, especially not some imposter. Dr.…

OK, I've got a few Heroclix miniatures, and six plastic dinosaurs - bigger than velociraptors, but smaller than tyrannosaurs. "Just right", in other words. All I need is a scenario... Any ideas? Subtlety is not required. I suppose I could dig out a few civilians, if necessary. They wouldn't be in quite the right scale, but who cares? Alan

A couple real newbie questions... page numbers and books are acceptable answers. 1. - What's the difference between PD and resistant PD? The same goes for ED. 2. - How can you block an attack? If the enemy goes before or after the PC? Does the PC say "Im blocking." for his action thus getting the added DCV? Thanks!

Is it pracxtical to base a superhero entirely around Skills? His characteristics would be normal, and he would have no usperpowers other than minor eqipment 9like weapons eh absolutely has to pay for) but the bulk of his CP are spent on skills -- combat skils, scientific skills, social skills, medical skills, etc. what would this character need to be able to fucntion alongside other superheroes?

I was looking for a villain that I could use as a hunter for one of my characters. I could always make one up but I thought maybe there's someone in the existing background material who might suit. I am looking for someone suitable for a superheroic setting (350 points max) who is either: (a) A villain from the Turakian or Valdorian age, most likely with magical powers, or, ( A low-medium power villain with time-travel powers whose powerbase is nevertheless in the present (max 350 pts) If there's something suitable in the source material it might be nice to use that, otherwise as I said I'll just make something up.

I run a character who is a devout Russian Orthodox; and her faith is an important part of her life. I'd like to have a quote or two from the Bible that she would likely quote if someone were to ask "Why are you a superheroine? Why risk your life to save people you don't even know?" Any suggestions? Being an agnostic; I'm no bible scholar. So I put this to those better educated than I.

Next week I am beginning my brand new game with brand new players. Woohoo! However, I've never GM'ed or played a Champions game before. Neither has most of my players. I was wondering if any one had any good guidelines to designing the first mission. Including number of enemies, strength of enemies etc. All my char's are standard Superheros with 200 points and 150 points of disadvantages. Thanks!

I would like to get the assistance of all you great herophiles. He is a normal person in a world filled with supers. The concept is that his ability to hit anything with anything thrown is nearly flawless. He hires himself out as a merc and has gained a powerful reputation and comfortable lifestyle in doing so. The thing that I am looking for is what skills and abilities he would possess as well as any possible disads that go along with him and a good name that he would have been given rather than giving himself (this is mostly to make it easier to hide from the authorities that are hunting him). Background: As a young man Samual Saulin was nothing …
